This urban fantasy boxed set contains the first three books of the Preternatural Affairs series: Witch Hunt, Silver Bullet, and Hotter Than Helltown. ~~~ My name's Cรจsar Hawke. Iโm a witch working for a division of the government youโve never heard about. The worldโs not what everyone thinks it isโunless you think that our worldโs a pawn in a game of chess between Heaven and Hell, and riddled with as much magic and wonder as it is with evil. In that case, the world is exactly what you think. My place of employmentโthe Office of Preternatural Affairsโtakes a modern approach to an ages-old problem. It used to be that inquisitors would burn demons and the people in league with them. Now we get warrants, perform arrests, put the suspects on trial, and send guilty parties back to the Hell from whence they came with the travel forms filled out in triplicate. This stuff I do with the OPA, it saves lives on most days. Most days, I said. ABOUT WITCH HUNT There are scratches on Cรจsar Hawkeโs arms, a discharged Glock on his coffee table, and a dead woman in his bathtub. Yeah, maybe he brought the waitress home for some funโhe was too drunk to remember itโbut he knows for a fact that he didnโt kill her. Heโs an agent with the Office of Preternatural Affairs. He doesnโt hurt people. He saves them. The cops disagree. Now Cรจsar is running. Isobel Stonecrow speaks with the dead. She brings closure to the bereaved and heals broken hearts. But when she talks to the wrong spirit, the OPA puts a bounty on her head. Tracking down Isobel is the last case assigned to Cรจsar before he bolts. If he finds her, he can prove that he didnโt kill that waitress. He can clear his name, get his job back, and bring justice to all those wronged families. Sheโs just one witch. Heโs bagged a dozen witches before. How hard can one more be? ABOUT SILVER BULLET Former private investigator Cรจsar Hawke has one rule: He doesnโt deal with dead bodies. Thatโs why he enlisted with the Magical Violations Department in the Office of Preternatural Affairs. Heโs happy tracking down witches that commit petty crimes, but he leaves the homicides to other agents. Except that heโs been assigned to a new teamโa team that handles special investigationsโand the job has suddenly changed. Now Cรจsar has to deal with dead bodies. He also has to deal with necromancers, murderous cults, and demons that can stop a manโs heart with fear. This isnโt the job he signed up for, but itโs the job he needs to do. If he survives the first week. ABOUT HOTTER THAN HELLTOWN A killer is mutilating bodies in Los Angeles. Agent Cรจsar Hawke is on the case, but the murderer is ahead of himโway ahead of him. Wiping the memories of the dead so that the teamโs necrocognitive canโt talk to them? Done. Preventing magical reconstruction of the crime scenes? Oh yeah. And the murders keep getting more brutal while Cรจsar struggles to catch up. The best way to heat up a cold case is to go to Helltown, where Los Angelesโs most powerful evil hides out, but even those demons are afraid of the murderer. Their fear adds one more question to the growing pile of unknowns: What kind of bad guy is too hot for Helltown? Review: Witches and demons - Great world building, and great magical mayhem, as we're introduced to the OPA, kind of like the FBI of the supernatural world. Agent Cesar Hawke is an interesting and compelling character, as the reader tags along with his investigations into bad witches, evil demons, and the treachery within his own secret government agency. Fun, fast reading. 5 magical stars. Review: Entertaining even if slightly predictable - Is it the absolute best trilogy I've ever read? No. But it was good enough that I'm lending my e-book to my best friend. If you like fantasy in the modern setting, you'll probably enjoy the set. It's medium light reading, nothing so onerous and heavy or dark as to exhaust the reader. The characters are fun and diverse and even though there are some quite predictable developments, there's also a few surprises.

A Great Read
I have read other books by this author and I enjoyed them so I decided to read this set. This was a great set about paranormal individuals that work for the Office of Preternatural Affairs. Cesar Hawke's is a witch and he works with Magical Violations NOT with dead bodies. He is arrested and accused of murder and escapes from the police jail. He plans to try and clear his name. The story follows him as he investigates who could have framed him. He is looking for Isobel, someone there office is trying to find. He finds her and since she is a necromancer, he wants her to talk to the womon he is accused of killing. The books follow the adventures of Cesar, Agent Suzanne, his office mate, Isobel and his supervisor Fritz, Friederling as they go off on a special project that Fritz wants them to work on. A well written series, they flows with excitement as they fight demons bringing their little group closer together to keep Humanity safe. This fun book is a fast read. I just went from story to story as fast as I could until the end.

Good laugh, Great suspense and world of magic. โก
โฟ*๏พยจ๏พโ*.:๏ฝกโฟ*โกLOVEโกLOVEโก โฟ*๏พยจ๏พโ๏ฝฅ โฟ I had originally purchased the Audible set after it being suggested; for being narrated by Jeffrey Kafer. So far all his books have been perfection; even after reading Kindle version and been disappointed. All the characters have their own singularities and emotions felt. You forget it's narrated by the same person. Awesome!! \(-ใ -)/ โฅ โฅ โฅ The novel itself keeps you captivated throughout all three stories! I was thrilled when finding out all three novels were available!! Forget having or collecting different covers. I was instantly hooked!! I could imagine this "normal" world with people able to perform magic, and all the different weirdos that practice the occult. Having a special department to control those who practice magic, made it adventurous. I haven't checked out the next book in series. But, if it's like the first three, I would recommend as stand alone for teenagers or Young Adults. Thank you so much for this collection. The suspense kept you immerse in the stories; and Cesar Hawke's allergies to magic was a trip! Much looking forward and getting ready for the next!

Different
In a good way. SM Reines has a talent of getting you inside the head of the hunters as well as the demons they are chasing. Cesar Hawke , a hunter in the OPA, goes through trials and tribulations while hunting preternatural beings in this 3 biook set. I enjoyed these stories and look forward to reading more of this authors work.

Guilty Pleasure
Preternatural Affairs is one of those guilty pleasure types of reads. I probably shouldn't like it but I do. There's a lot of crassness and language. The main character is a turd with a lot of bad qualities (he's totally flawed and he knows it) but he's also kind of a likeable turd with a lot of redeeming qualities as well. The story is kind of dark but also hilarious at times. It all just seems to come together to make it an interesting and pretty good read. For those who want to know: there is a lot of language, some sex (and lots of sexual thoughts) and violence.

SM Reine does it again!!!
SM Reine does it again. Draws me in with the first 3 books and I go on and buy the other 4 books immediately upon finishing the first three. Very easy read with twists and turns that keep you reading. Love the main characters of Hawk, Fitz, Stonecrow and Suzy. They have a very complicated relationship which is mostly revealed in Book 5, the novella. Demons, witches, kopides, FBI and Union characters living side by side but not necessarily getting along well together. Each of the books has it's own story drama which is completed by the end of each book so you could read one and stop, but the characters with all their past travels on to Book two and then Book three, etc. And, then I drop my Kindle because I can't make my eyes stay open anymore to keep reading. You will too hopefully. Love Reine's books.

Fun, easy read!
I was not able to stop with just the first book. I had to continue and read all of them! That happened within 2 days. The stories were interesting, with some subtle humor in there. The really enjoyed them and will probably read the rest of the series.

Preternatural everything!
I have enjoyed everything about this collection, each book is more exciting than the last. They are all fast paced with lots of twists that didn't expect. The characters are so well thought out that i feel like I know them personally. Cesar is such a funny and quite pathetic character that you can't help but like him and throughout the stories I kept hoping he would get the girl. Cesar is by far my favorite character in the set. I can't wait to get stuck into the next book...

Amazing
Written in similar style and pop culture references to Gary Jonas's Jonathan Shade series, this 3 part series delivers the very best in entertainment value. I hope there are many more books for me to read. I also absolutely loved the gym and bodybuilding references!

This book had my interest immediately and kept it there throughout the entire 1-3 book series! It was like reading one book. There is humor, suspense and many things to hold your interest. f you're a fan of supernatural books, I suggest you give these a try! I did and I'm glad!

Do yourself a favour...
And try these books - at $0, what do you have to loose? You will thank me if you do. Sara has produced an incredibly entertaining set of books. Told from a guyโs POV (refreshing), he is a walking contradiction, that produces halarious results. He is a huge, muscular, good looking man. If you try the Audio books (which were very well done), he also has a deep, gravelly voice. However, he is also a geek, an awkward gentleman with the ladies, squeamish around blood, and he has a magic allergy. Did I mention he is a witch? In the first book, he finds a dead girl in his bath. Who killed her and framed him? It keeps you guessing to end.
