Does it have internal memory?

No....you must make sure the SD card is a U3.... It won't record if you have it with rear cam unless its U3 and above 64gb

Do you need a smart phone for this to operate, as i haven't got one and don't want one

No you do not NEED a smartphone, but... You can install and fully set the camera up using just the touch screen on the back of it. It will turn on and off with the car power (e.g. 12v socket) and record as you drive. If you have an accident you can press the save button below the screen (or if the built in impact sensor detects it) it will protect the relevant video file a few 10’s of seconds either side of the incident - all good with no smartphone needed... however, I had an accident a few months back (someone ran into the back of me on the M25) and the shock of it made me forget to push the “save” button on the dash am. We pulled over exchanged details on the hard shoulder, but as my family and I were going on holiday I needed to save the video file of the accident before it was overwritten (after about 4 hours of driving). At that time I had no smartphone, tablet or PC with me, so I went to a supermarket and bought another SD card which I swapped into the dash cam so I could save the card with the accident video on it until I returned home and recover the file for my insurers - the other driver later tried to claim I’d rolled/reversed back into them, so really glad I had the video! You don’t NEED a smartphone (or tablet, or PC) to use this camera, but if you have one it would make life so much easier if you need to download any footage after an accident. If you really don’t want a smartphone I’d keep a spare SD card in the car so if (like me) you forget to press the save button you can ensure the file is not overwritten/erased before you can offload it from the dash cam at a later date.

Are the rear view cameras sutible for a transit van? As it would need mounting on the outside?

No. The rear view camera, like the main unit, is designed as an internal camera unit to be protected from the outside elements. The rear view camera is therefore designed to be stuck on the inside of a rear windscreen facing out through the glass. Most definitely not to be mounted on the outside of a vehicle. Is a hardwire kit included?

No not in the kit I bought, came with front and rear cam, Nextbase hardwire kit £20 but worth it. Saying that I had to go buy a mini fuse to fit my car, only an extra £1, guess all makes of car are different. Easy to fit.
