Hilarious musical takeoff of 1812 overture.
Very humorous musical take off by PDQ BACH. The musical "jokes" are so unexpected and worthy of LOL. I don't know if you need to have a classical music background to get some of these "jokes". It amounts to the musical jokes being so atrocious musically it's terribly funny.

What not to like?
It's PDQ Bach, the best, entertaining version of the well loved classics.

Good fun with PDQ
As a PDQ Bach fan, I have enjoyed the pseudo-master works discovered by professor Schickele. This album is no exception to the solid performance that can come from a good orchestra playing the esoteric music that come from the mind of PDQ. IF you have not had the opportunity to hear PDQ Bach, this is a good starting point.

It Should Have Been Played Straight.
P.D.Q.'s 1712 Overture is a Magnificent spoof on the 1812 Overture. My only regret is that there is no rendering that is not played for laughs. Were this done with proper cannons and not pop-guns, and leaving out the gasps for air it would be a composition of the first order. If you've never heard this piece before try to imagine it a legitimate work.

More PDQ Bach, please!
To me, PDQ Bach is a "must" to any classical music enthusiast. I have several CDs. I never knew this one existed. LONG LIVE PDQ BACH!!!

Brilliantly insane.
Read the liner notes for an added treat. If you 'hate' classical music, this is for you. The professor has been winning converts since at least 1971 when I first encountered him. You will never hear several famous pieces without automatically referring back to this gem in the rough.
