## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does anyone know how this scriber compares to the bare metal foil scriber? i just want to go over the existing panel lines on plastic model cars.**
A: the bare metal scriber has a much smaller and finer tip, ideal for scribing body lines or modifying doors/trunks, the plastic scriber is more for precise, smooth cutting out the parts from the plastic.

**Q: What is this used for in rgds to gunpla?**
A: I use it to re-scribe existing panel lines for emphasis or to add panel lines when customizing.

**Q: How good is this scriber for cutting up styrene sheets?**
A: What is the thickness of the sheet? It’s not made to cut but it will after enough pulls/strokes/swipes in the same direction.

**Q: are the blades 2mm or bigger or smaller? (how big are the blades?)**
A: Total blade thickness is 0.56mm but the blade cuts a V-shape trench, so the lines you cut will be smaller. Depends on how hard you press and how many passes you make. For reference, the standard mr line chisel blade is .3mm and is about the width of bandai's panel lines.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ happy with my little scribey thingy
*by J***D on June 2, 2025*

i build model cars and found this great for deepening panel lines, and for removing parts like doors, hoods, or trunks, with more precision than a hobby saw could. sharpness, safety, and ease of use are what i wanted in a scribing tool, and tamiya quality delivered as always. what makes this tool a greater value than other scribes is 1) it's a two-way blade that you can either push or pull, and i've found use in both, and 2) the retractable, lockable blade is important for a paranoid safety freak like myself. i'm especially pleased with the durability; i've been using this for a year and a half and am still on my first blade. i totally forgot there was a compartment of two spares until i looked at the photo on this product page. tip for the novice: if you watch builds and tutorials on youtube, you'll see builders applying downward pressure when scribing. you DO NOT need to do this. it's sharp enough that simply gliding it along the channel will accomplish what you're trying to do. added pressure just increases the likelihood you'll jump the channel and scratch your model. easy does it.
