Now that the game is out can anyone verify if it is multiplayer or just single player?

Single player with multiplayer coming later with an update. People forget that the original also had multiplayer.

Is this game difficult? Or rather, would you recommend for a casual gamer?

For someone new to this particular type of gameplay the main complaints I see is getting down the controls and the fighting. Which is a learning curve. I think it’s less “pick up and play” when compared to other RPGs. Most of these kinds of games are not good about tutorials. Most of them will expect you to know what’s up. I forget if Baldurs Gate does this as well, but if you’re interested I would go over the control options and click every button on the keyboard so you know what you have. You’ll pick it up.

Can I use the touch pad / touch controls to play the game?

Some prompts allow it, others no. I played last night when I got the game, and the controls/buttons are a bit complicated to get the hang of on the Switch console. I haven't tried it on the TV yet to see it that makes it easier or not.

Is the text good readable when played on the small console screen?

I am 49 and wear glasses with progressive (tri focal) lenses. I have had no trouble reading any of the text.
