As Advertised…
Quality of item was as if brand new. I was a little concerned buying a refurb considering the range of DOCSIS 3.1 (as in it will likely last years as a standard for a home cable modem) and expected product longevity (you want to have the modem last years as well without concern or need for further replacement) but I have had no issues at all and the modem works spectacularly. I am very happy with the price and Prime ship time as I needed a modem fast when my previous modem failed. I am a remote worker and reliability of a data connection is critical. My modem and high end router of the same brand now work together perfectly. Setup is as easy as calling your cable provider, and you save the cost of any cable fee for leasing equipment.

Recommend this seller highly
Works great no problem and was packed really well. It came in perfect condition for a refurbished item. Recommend this seller. The only thing negative is it took a lot longer to get than I wanted but it was still in the estimated time frame. It was roughly 3 weeks after ordering to delivery. But it was work it overall.

SIMPLE SWAP WITH XFINITY
Cable has been acting up for a couple of weeks and I noticed the modem's light were flashing differently and intermittently. Ordered the modem and it came the SAME DAY!!! I just used the same power cord and Ethernet cable for the new modem. It took all of one minute. Turned it on and waited for all the 4 lights to turn green and the bottom one to turn amber. It took about 20 minutes. It did keep on resetting, but that was expected. Called Xfinity with the new MAC#. They reset everything. I then reset the router and I was back in business. Total time from beginning to end (including waiting on the phone with Xfinity) about an hour and a half. Now I have a good connection and the speed of the internet seems super fast now. The old modem was installed in 2017. I am extremely happy with purchase.

Nice for a Refurbished modem - worth the money
My main dislike was that it only came with a simple setup manual of only a couple pages that was next to useless. Once I got my input cable repaired (broke it removing my old modem) and hooked up the CM1000v2, It kept re-booting and re-booting (they said it would do this several times in the setup) and still it would not find my internet provider's signal (COX and I've been a customer nigh on 20 years), I used my phone and downloaded the full manual. After reading through that, I did what the little included pages did not say, especially since this was a re-furb. I connected my computer to the modem and logged on to it. Did a "Factory Reset" you can do this with a recessed button and I highly recommend doing that as soon as you get it. It still didn't find the signals, but instead of waiting until the proper light stayed lit as the book said, I called COX's tech service (using a different provider and if you had DOCSIS 3.1my old one was 3.0, this may work differently) I gave them the serial# and MAC address of the modem. They set me up there and told me it would take 20 minutes or more for this modem to find all the channels and begin working. Be patient, the tech was right. Took almost 50 minutes, but finally it was on line and wow what a difference it makes over the old CISCO (DOCSIS 3.0) modem I had been using for over 5 years without ever turning it off. Now, we'll see how well this re-furb stands up to 24/7 continuous operation and I may revise my review at a later date if it stops working, but for right now, I love it.

This refurbished is a JOKE
I tried 2 of these. First one I could tell wasn't working correctly, it powered on but it didn't go through the back-and-forth with comcast to connect. I couldn't even see the device by it's address on my network. Eventually I got through to Comcast and they pushed a connect signal - nothing. Did a factory reset and this time they got a signal to it where it gave the "activation" instructions but they still couldn't get it to come online. 2nd one - definitely different. Did the back-and-forth and all that, but still couldn't see it on the network. Factory reset and there it was, and I got the Comcast activation message, too. It was gonna' work....... and after over a half-hour of multiple activation signals, alas, it's still shows offline at Comcast. There customer support - it's there a couple hours a day Eastern time - if you're anywhere else try around 11 - noon your time. Amazon - time to get a new refurbisher - just making sure it's clean and has parts and powers on isn't enough, you know darn well I'm going to Best Buy this time. Oh, and just in case you're wondering if I actually can't properly plug in and connect a cable - put the old modem back in and 5 mins later I'm writing this review. DO NOT use a device from Kanga. Not just ZERO stars, negative stars. TERRIBLE.

Good value depending on longevity
Amazon Renewed product. Did a factory reset on it and then went through the activation process with Xfinity via their mobile app. Activation went flawlessly, and the unit is functioning within design parameters. This is a good value product, depending on longevity. --Don't forget to log into the modem and change the default password. I found to do this you have to turn the modem off, unhook the coaxial cable (but leave the data cable from the router connected)), and then turn the modem back on. After it completed its start-up I was able to connect to 192.168.100.1 and access the modem log-in page via a browser. Input the default user and password that's on the bottom of the modem. It will prompt you to change the default.

Almost 1 year later!
I ordered this back on October 4, 2023, its now September 1, 2024 so its been almost a year. I was a bit skeptical about how well this would do given some of the negative reviews and the fact that I bought it as a 'renewed' item. I replaced my old Arris Surfboard Docsis 3.0 modem and let me tell you this thing doubled my internet speeds. Its been a workhorse since then. The setup is super easy and it kinda just sets itself up for you. I've had to power cycle this thing several times whenever I see super slow speeds or Netflix isn't loading. Its the whole turn it off and back on again and that's the only thing I've ever had to do to fix any issues with speed. The last time I had to reboot it was probably over a month ago. I can't recommend this enough to anyone wanting to get a discounted, high quality item!

Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey.
Why that headline? Because genuinely that's the hardest part of getting this modem set up - remembering which way to screw the cable in. The second hardest part (or perhaps the single hardest part if you're a bit lacking in the patience category) is waiting on hold with your ISP's tech support team. In my specific case that's Xfinity/Mediacom. Simply call them out, cuss at the robot until it lets you talk to a human being in technical support, then tell them you'd like to change modems. They'll ask you for the MAC address (it's on a sticker on the modem itself, so you can't really lose it), and stay with you on the phone until they see it begin to communicate. That's it. Bing, bang, boom; you're off to Mediacom's office to drop their terrible modem off in the returned equipment chute. Why so simple? Because this is just a modem. No routing, no Wifi, nothing to configure. You're going to want a worthwhile router for those. Sure, you could get a router/modem combo. But if your ISP is anything like mine, they're going to make it to where you can't really manage your network - so if you are an advanced user who needs port forwarding, DCHP control, MAC Address Filtering, or hardware adblockers/firewalls... Well... You're probably not going to want a combo unit with a very restrictive interface.

Wrongly recommended
My ISP has a more nuanced choice than the "suitable for Cogeco" It is not good for my area and has to be returned. Not a manufacturers problem.
