The BEST bike out there, especially for this price!
There is nothing I don't love about this bike! For the price and ease of set up and use, you can't go wrong with this one. Assembly took about 40 minutes and was pretty easy. I had read about the noise issue from other reviews, but after putting it together and using it for a while, so far I've had no problems. Let me say a big thank you to the reviewer who addressed the noise issue with the peddles. The other version of this bike I've had for over a year started to make the noise and my husband now knows how to fix it. He uses that bike now, since I got this new one with the desk. Making the adjustments for my personal needs was fast and now it fits me comfortably. I am not a small women, 5'7" and "fluffy" as they say, and this bike works great for me. I did leave off the pulse checking handles because I don't need them and they were more an obstacle for me than as asset. I was concerned about the seat, but the padding is fine and the seat is comfortable. I have an old t-shirt double folded on the seat because the pattern that is woven into the seat cover was an issue for me but I don't think it would bother anyone else. The desk size itself is ample and my laptop fits fine along with a mouse and my phone. I love the cup holders and the ledge at the bottom is high enough that it keeps everything from slipping off. The seat back is good and works fine even though I am taller than most women. The read out display is easy to see and adjusting everything is simple, from the desk height and angle to the tension on the pedals. Moving the bike around is also not a problem and easier than I had thought it would be. If you are a hard core peddler, this might not be what you are looking for. This is not something that will do what a Pelleton does, so if that is what you are looking for, this is not it. Don't get me wrong, depending on how you use it, you can work up a sweat on this bike, but it is not for those who want to do grand prix or off road type peddling. You can't stand on this bike for that serious uphill peddling kind of thing. This will get your blood flowing and your heart pumping, but in a less stressing way. The seat is slightly recumbent, which is great, so it's easier on the knees and back. I got this so I can do some exercise while I am working on my laptop all day and for that purpose, it's perfect, and far better than just sitting in a chair all day. I can easily do several miles at a time and hardly notice it happening. Overall, this bike does what I need it to, it's quiet, a good price, easy to use and doesn't take up a lot of space. It's everything a good piece of in home exercise equipment should be.

Good Ergonostic Product for Short People Too!
We have been using this wonderful product for over one month daily. I’ve been shopping on Amazon for years and this is my very first Amazon review. I feel obliged to share my experiences with the Exerpeutic Adjustable Desk Folding Exercise Bike with those of us who might worry this product is not for “short people” or not ergonomically healthy. I did quite some research online, considering both reviews and third-party evaluations for the best cycling desk and Exerpeutic looks the most promising. However, I was very concerned because many reviews convincingly indicate that this is not for anyone shorter than 5’3”. I am 5’2” and 116 lbs. I am very pleased to say that I can use it comfortably and my 4’ 5” tall 9-year-old son loves it too ! He bikes for about one hour every day since we got the bike (see my picture with my son on the bike)! The only one in my family who doesn’t like it is my cat, as he can’t sleep on my lap while I work anymore! Lol Adjustment for “short people”: We set the seat for the setting to “5’1” and 5’6”. It is very well marked on the bottom of the seat. For the height of the seat, I’m ok with the lowest one or two setting. We set the desktop to: slightly tilt. I can see if I set the desktop flat as shown in a few of the review pictures, it would be too high for my elbow to be ergonomically healthy or comfortable. It is true that when I type, I can’t reach the back support but so are many other regular chairs. I can either put a regular sofa cushion behind me or sit straight as I normally do. Ergonomics: With the above adjustment, the desk meets the ergonomics checklist as outlined by some major sources (Sources are omitted due to Amazon review rules). Some of the checklist points include: 1, The top of the computer screen is at or slightly below eye level. Your eyes should look slightly downward when viewing the middle of the screen. 2. The monitor is an arm’s length distance. 3. “The center-line of the keyboard should be level with the height of your elbow. Tilt the keyboard back 10° so that your wrists remain flat (Ergotron.com).” Well, they also suggest stand and stretch your back and arms from time to time” and the comfortable yet not Laz-boy kind of comfortable seat helps you to do that! Operation: We’ve been having this for over a month with at least three hours of use by multiple people every day. Operation is surprisingly quiet and smooth. It is almost enjoyable to paddle. Some reviews say there are clanking noise after two or three months. So, I can keep updating my review periodically. Comfort: The large cushioned seat is more comfortable than my regular bike seat. But after twenty minutes, I feel the need to get off and walk a bit or just stand and work, which is not a bad thing. My new sit-stand desk without manually adjusting the desk height! The Desk: The desk is spacious. I put my 13-inch laptop in the middle, my phone on one side, and mouse on the other. My son can fit his 17-inch laptop on the desk. The armrest is a good plus. The LCD Display: I like the position of the LCD display. It is right in front instead of hiding on the back of the desk. I don’t expect the calorie count to be accurate. I did three tests with my Fitbit and on average it doubles my Fitbit’s calculation. For example, for a 30 minutes relaxing level 3 resistance biking while typing session, my Fitbit reads around 40 calories but the bike LCD shows around 70. I’m not sure which one is more accurate. I’ll probably try different exercise settings on Fitbit later on. Assembling: The box is very heavy. The hardware are very well-organized and well-marked by assembling steps. All tools and even two batteries are included. My two elementary school kids and I put it together within one hour. Overall: I’ve been using this product for a week by now. I am very pleased with the design of this product. I prefer this than my sit/stand desk or stability ball seat. I don’t expect the bike desk to be my major workout but it is a nice plus to bring fitness into everyday life. Initially wrote on4/5; edited on 5/15

Great LARGE Desk/Sturdy Machine 5'3 Works For Me!!!!
As many others are, I am working at home. I cannot sit still at a desk! Usually, I'd work at Starbucks or the Library. So this bike has been awesome! Instead of being stir crazy, I just pedal away...... Whisper Quiet, and I appreciate that I do not have to plug anything in or buy a cartridge. I purchased this model, because it had the largest desk available. (and it was on sale price affordable) I work on a 15 in Macbook Pro, and I appreciate the desk pad and room on each side for my phone and utensils. Has two large up holders, one on each side. (iphone Max will not fit). If I had to view papers, I'd buy a clip on paper holder. With my laptop, there is 4-5 inches left on each side. The padding is made for your laptop to be centered without falling in your lap lol Assembly - I found this bike more difficult to put together than other items I've built. (I'm a pro Ikea builder) The tools are in a great package; separated and numbered! AWESOME! I took a couple days off and on to get it right. *****Helpful hints - This is NOT the bike to share if you are different heights. As you put it together, you are deciding on bike height, seat position and desk. You can make some minor adjustments after it is built. I'm 5'3. As I built it, I chose to bolt the seat for the shortest/closest forward position (forward/back). Notice I wrote BOLT. This is not adjustable. SO DECIDE POSITIONS AS YOU PUT IT TOGETHER. The instructions have a guide for this. The height is adjustable with a knob, which also moves the bolted seat closer or farther away. The desk can be adjusted from level or tilted down by knob, and has another knob under the desk to get closer or farther away. I can adjust it perfectly so I'm not leaning forward to type. 5'3 woman I read most of the reviews. Regarding the back rest. I thought it was high also, so instead of bolting it using the four bolts (preassigned holes), I moved it down and bolted it with two bolts. Still feels sturdy, and you are not spinning using this bike. THE DESK IS AWESOME and HAS A DRAWER!!!

Works for 5'2" frame
February 2022 update: Bringing this back to 5 stars. Still using this bike since 2017. I'll blame the pandemic on the 2020 issues. I did eventually get my parts and have had no problems since. If you are on the fence about buying this, I say go for it! You won't regret it. ========================= December 2020 update: Dropping this from 5 stars down to 3 stars. I used this bike a lot during 2020. I did approximately 10,000 pedals daily for months. I enjoyed using this bike until I needed a new right pedal. I have contacted customer service several times since October 2020. They responded at first, asked me a couple of questions, I replied and I have not heard from them since. I reached out every couple of weeks since then and it is now the end of December. Disappointed because I really like this bike but now that I need a part, customer service disappeared on me. ========================= July 2018 update: Still love this bike. I've since angled the desk as far down as it could go. It helps with keeping my arms lower. I do need to be scooted to the front of the seat for my size and I don't bother with the backrest. I like having to use my core to sit straight. ========================= 2017: After hours of research, I decided to purchase this bike. I made sure I was at the door when the package arrived, so the box was at least inside. I slid it across the floor and opened the box. I cannot rave enough on how well this was packaged. Whomever came up with the idea of putting the tools, nuts and bolts on the cardboard was genius. They also thought of every detail as you worked through each step. I am a 49 year old female and I put this bike together with ease. All you need is a pair of scissors. Everything else has been thoughtfully layed out, provided for you and easy to follow. I made all of the proper adjustments for my 5'2 frame, got on and couldn't believe how comfortable it was. Note: According to the specs, my height is the lowest you can go. 5'2 might work if you put the seat on the lowest setting. I still have two notches left to lower my seat, so it might work but be sure to take note of the height specs before purchasing. I think the desk size is just right. The wrist cushion is perfect. I can easily type on my laptop. I have my phone inside the handy drawer, along with pen and paper. I have a water bottle in the cup holder and my snack or juice in the other. I don't have any issues with my laptop cord. Mine is plugged in at the front of the bike, if that helps. As far as the back rest, you can put a pillow behind you, as some have mentioned. I'm trying to sit upright on my own, which will hopefully build my stomach muscles and strengthen my core. Otherwise, because of my height, I need to put a pillow behind me for support. The seat is really comfortable. Just like any bike seat, it might become uncomfortable. I will post an update if it does. The seat was bigger than I expected, so I was pleasantly surprised.

Fantastic piece of equipment, especially for the money!!
This is an absolutely fantastic piece of equipment for the price. I am in manufacturing and can't believe the company can build and sell this for udner 200 dollars. If assembled properly and securely, it's a solid bike. The adjustability allows for easy customization. I added a monitor stand to the rear desk by placing a 5x5 inch sheet of 1/4" plywood on the bottom and using a desk clamp at the rear of the desk surface to secure the monitor arm....a small USB hub with a wireless mouse, and you're all set for a productive work experience. Seat is comfortable, backrest is high, and if you are careful not to damage the wires on assembly, the pulse monitor works great. The ability to slide the desk forward substantially is a key feature for comfort and good typing dynamics...this is absent on almost all other bikes of this type. The resistance is smoother/better than I though and at the highest setting gives enough resistance for even a serious workout/fitness enthusiast like myself. Put this thing on the patio or deck for some fresh air while you exercise at a steady, medium-low level so you can still work. Really great. BTW, I'm 5'11" and 190 muscular pounds and there's plenty of adjustability in both directions for height and angle of pedals.

Not bad, but A LOT of room for improvement
I have used this bike for a couple of weeks now, and overall, it's an OK product. The Good: it seems solidly constructed and sturdy; it is near-silent in operation; you can pedal forwards and backwards; the work desk area is a good size; The Bad: the display module just doesn't work - the ODO is supposed to not reset until 999 miles, but instead, I found it resets after a couple of days of not using, without touching the batteries. The desk is way too high up and cannot be lowered effectively - in fact it's pretty crazy, insofar as you can raise it even higher(!), what for I don't know, since you can't stand like on a elliptical, so who needs it to be up to your chin? I'm 5' 9" and it's way - WAY too high; it is also too far in front, and you cannot bring it close enough - rather, again, you can move it further out yet(!) again, I don't know what for, since it's not like you'll be throwing darts at it, so what's the point - meanwhile, it's too far away even at the closest setting to type comfortably for me. Another bad thing - the pedal shafts are wrongly installed on my bike and the instructions to attach the pedals were therefore not correct - sloppy QC. If you spend a lot of time on this bike - as I do - you should definitely attach a cushion, especially if you're skinny. That's not a knock on the bike, as the seat is comfortable enough for most use scenarios, but just be aware that if you're one of the more 'extreme' users, you may need to augment what the bike provides. Bottom line: this is an OK bike, and good value for the money, although it definitely feels like a beta version, and I'd have high hopes for v. 2.0. As is, it is usable, although barely, if you plan to really use the work area and spend a lot of time on it.

Best purchase I have ever made for my health
This is the best purchase I have made for my health. I am in the phase of life where my time is split between family activities and working a full day at the office - I have made little to no time to prioritize exercise. For the past several years, most evenings I would fire up my work laptop and catch-up on work e-mails / tasks on the couch next to my wife while partially watching tv. Last year we bought an elliptical, which due to its size and noise we put in the basement. I used it regularly for a month, but heading down to the basement to work out alone (spending even more time away from the family) was an inhibitor and after a month or so it stopped getting used with any regularity I was looking for a workout machine that I could multi-task and do work while working out (two birds with one stone). I found this on Amazon and it is the silver bullet. This bike-desk is small enough and is whisper quiet enough that we set it up in our family room in a corner behind the couch. Now if I have to catch up on work at night, I am still in the same room as my family, and i'm getting some exercise. It is quiet enough that we do not have to raise the volume on the tv to hear it while i'm pedaling, and I can have conversations with my family. The bike is very stable and I find it very easy to pedal, read the screen, and type at the same time (no up and down motion like a treadmill desk). Depending on what I am doing on my computer sometimes I slow down to a crawl, other times I sit back while thinking and pick up the pace, either way i'm moving more than if I was on the couch. In the first 3 months I have put on 500 miles according to the odometer. The bike is very sturdy and exceptionally well built. I am shocked that this cost only $200 for how well built it is structurally. The only minor quality issue is the Heart Monitor never worked for me, but I didn't really care about that functionality. I am 6'4" and 230 lbs with a 34" inseam and the bike has enough adjustments to be comfortable with an ergonomic location for the laptop. I do think I am at the upper limit of height for this set-up. Any taller and my knees would hit the bottom of the desk. I do use the bike with just socks on (no sneakers) as the extra thickness of sneakers is enough to make my knees hit the bottom of the desk for the height I want the desk to be the right level for my arms (I could adjust the desk higher, but then the keyboard would be too high for extended use). This has been perfect for light to moderate workouts. If you put up the resistance and pedal hard you can get a good sweat going; however, I wouldn't recommend this if your primary goal is to get a heavy workout on a bike. If you are looking for that silver bullet where you can work / read while getting a light to moderate exercise - this is a perfect product. I am three months in and still using it most days that I am home. The desk portion of this is a very nice size. It has two decent sized cup holders and enough width that I can keep cell phones and remote controls on either side of my laptop without risk of things falling to the floor. As other's mentioned the packaging and assembly instructions are some of the best I have ever seen - their packaging engineers are brilliant. This was very easy to assemble, though there are some heavier parts that could make it challenging for some people to assemble.

Perfectly fine for 5'3" and easy assembly -- but keep the box for potential return shipping
Assembly was pretty straightforward--I've done it twice now, details on why are at the end--and the hardware pack was one of the best I've seen in terms of making it easy to figure out what parts to use in each step. It all comes in a blister pack, with one numbered section for each numbered step of the assembly instructions, and each part labeled with its part number. My only quibble about that was that it was sometimes difficult to get the parts out of the pack without completely destroying the blister pack, which would make it more difficult to identify which parts to use in later steps. I advise having a box cutter or other blade on hand to get the parts out from the back. I used one blade of a pair of scissors and it worked okay. Also, the #33 washers (used in several steps) have a tendency to stick to each other. At one point I thought I was missing a washer, but it turned out I had unwittingly put two of them on one bolt. Not a problem if you're keeping an eye out for it. I'm 5'3" with a 27" inseam, so the first time I assembled one, I assembled it according to the ~under 5'6"~ directions. The effect of this is that the seat is about an inch more forward than if you use the ~over 5'6"~ directions. It also means that the back rest is about an inch farther from the seat. I found that distance between the seat and back rest to be rather awkward, and I didn't find that I had any trouble reaching the pedals when I got both the seat post and the seat slider adjusted appropriately, so when I assembled it the second time I used the ~over 5'6"~ directions and I find it to be more comfortable. (If you change your mind after assembling it, it would be easy to reassemble it at the other position without taking the whole bike apart, but not so easy that different users would want to change it back and forth.) The only thing I can figure for the people who say it doesn't work for short people is that they don't realize there are two separate seat adjustments to make to accommodate different heights, plus more adjustments you can make for the height of the desk surface. I find it to be quite comfortable with the seat post adjusted to the lowest position, and the seat slider almost but not all the way forward. Speaking of the desk surface, on its lowest setting it's too high to be ergonomic for me for long stretches of time, but if it were any lower my knees would be banging into it, so I think it's a reasonable compromise. I can still type fairly comfortably, I just know that if I tried to use a computer like that all day I would get knots in my back and shoulders. But I really like having the desk there. Being able to do other stuff while I ride makes the time go quickly, and the desk surface gives me a lot of options for what to do--potentially even work. I've only been using it for a few days now, and I'm satisfied with the bike overall. It's comfortable and suits my needs. However, I don't find the app to be amazing. For one thing, you can't look at the different workouts available unless you're connected to the bike by Bluetooth, which means I can't sit on my couch and explore the options, I can only look at them when I'm near the bike and the bike is powered on. And if there's a way to customize the different workouts to your fitness level, I haven't figured it out. The workout that looks the most gentle starts out on resistance level 9 and looks like it goes up from there. Level 9 isn't impossible for me to pedal or anything, but I'm trying not to overdo it. I am starting out at super low resistance levels and increasing it each time I use it, so I don't hurt myself. Since I can't seem to scale down the built-in workouts to a beginner level, I've just been doing a manual ride. Once I get up to level 9 on my own, I'll check out the workouts again. I also haven't yet activated the 30 day free trial of whatever the subscription service is, so maybe I'll like it better with that. I want to get more familiar with it as-is so that I'm more certain what I'm getting for my money if I get the subscription. As you've probably guessed, the first bike I got was defective. The power brick made a super loud buzz when plugged in, and the resistance (whether the bike was plugged in or not) was such that I couldn't sustain pedaling for even as much as two minutes. When I would attempt to adjust the resistance, the screen would display "E1" and nothing about the resistance would change. I could find nothing about this error code anywhere in any manual or online forum. I used the QR code in the manual to contact the manufacturer, and it generated an email template for me to fill out. I filled out all of the requested information and also included a video of the behavior, and sent it off. I received an automated reply asking me for all of the information I had just sent, with wording that made me concerned I wouldn't receive a real reply until I sent it all again, so I did. Nearly a week went by. Concerned about letting it slip past the return window, I contacted Amazon via a button or link that suggested I could get "support" for the bike from Amazon. What I got was basically the returns department. Within the hour, I had an exchange set up, but this meant I had to return the defective one. Fortunately I still had the box, and I had packing tape on hand, but I had to disassemble the bike and get it packed up within two days to be ready for the UPS pickup. I used a mishmash of various materials to fill excess space in the box. Even if I'd been able to locate all of the original styrofoam, I don't think I'd have been able to get everything packed in the original way. So I made do. The same day UPS picked it up, I finally got a response from the manufacturer, offering a return or exchange. So they did respond, just not very swiftly.

NO FUNCIONA

Excellent Customer Service from the manufacturer
I bought this bike in April 2018 and had it sat in a corner for a while because my motivation failed. About 3 months ago I started using it daily and it really is a good product. I bought it especially for the desk and backrest, so I can work and type on my laptop while biking away. It's very easy to assemble, very sturdy - I think I'm over the stated weight limit but the bike can handle that fine. The desk attachment is a little wobbly but it's a desk on an exercise bike, it's not going to be perfectly steady all the time anyway. All in all I really like this product and it's helping me with my weight loss goals because it's not bike OR other stuff, it lets me do both. Unfortunately yesterday (Friday) evening after work it broke. Specifically the backrest broke. I leaned back, a key piece of metal broke at the weld point, and I kinda sorta fell off backwards. One email to the manufacturer later ([email protected]) and today (Saturday) I get a reply telling me they're sending me out a replacement part on Monday, no hassle, no problems, no arguing. I think that's honestly the quickest and best customer service I've ever had from anyone anywhere ever. Good product, good company, no complaints whatsoever.

Exceeds expectations
Sturdy, whisper quiet, comfortable and has a relatively small footprint. Two senior adults getting daily exercise almost effortlessly. Put a book or a laptop onto the desk top and half an hour of pedalling just flies by. Assembly was quite straightforward although there were a LOT of steps. The assembly guide was easy to follow and the blister pack of required parts and even tools made it simple to do. Plan on several hours to assemble.

Einfacher Aufbau, leiser Betrieb
