Drop Scale - Connected Kitchen Scale and Step-by-Step Recipe App

This scale is a great combination of tech and foodie that I find difficult to resist.Setup was seamless and took less than a minute. I’ve only used it once so far, but that’s enough to get a gauge on its performance. I selected a simple cookie recipe with few ingredients and followed the directions, pouring ingredients into the bowl until the correct weight registered on the scale. I had to giggle the first couple of times the big checkbox popped up, letting me know that I’d poured in just the right amount of sugar or cocoa (because I’m a geek).I do plan to try adding some of my own recipes in the future.

My husband got me this as a lark of a gift. It has fast become one of my favorite kitchen tools.Between the thin pizza dough recipe and the pancakes, Drop has paid for itself in takeout and restaurant savings. There are lot of other recipes, and new ones being added, that I want to try.But it also works as a great scale. With my IPad on a stand, I can now easily bake by weight. Some of my favorite recipes, like the no knead bread standby, work so much better using the Drop scale. With sites like King Arthur flour that have weight options (metric too), my measuring cups are feeling neglected.Using Drop to measure saves time too. My teenager had to cook for homework one night. He'd signed up for scones, so we found a weight-based recipe. He was so impressed at how much easier and faster it was to measure without cups and spoons. The results were better too. He did everything on his own and was proud of how much everyone in class liked how they looked and tasted.Drop stands by its product with customer service from real, live people. I was experiencing a bug after an update and reported it. Imagine my pleasant surprise when my email was answered by a knowledgeable, friendly staffer.I'm waiting for some more basic recipes, like one for a good pasta dough, but there are plenty of others to keep me busy in the meantime. I am so pleased my husband got this for me as a gift. He's reaping the benefits too.

Who knew, that by using this scale, that you could make perfectly flavored margarita?? I do now!I bought this as a gift, and really wasn't sure about how well it would work. However after downloading the app, we have been able to make many dishes that we had never tried before. This product works very well, is very well made, and is getting much more use than I thought it went when I first purchased it.If you are a gadget guy like I am, and need to buy a gift for someone you care about, then this is it.

It took forever it get here. The light did not come on, and I have had no response to me email. Because it took so long the return time has run out. Expensive experience

Do you like to make your life easier... ever struggle with changing a recipe or trying to dig through your cabinets to get the right measuring cup.. what if you could just pour the ingredients and your scale told you when to stop.. well now you have the answer! This scale will do all that, meaning you can clean out those cabinets and easily just store this small light weight scale and it will assist with all your cooking needs

This is a great idea overall. I bought it for my wife as a xmas gift. Unfortunately, she was not into backing and asked to return it. After I talked to a seller, I figured out that I would lose almost 40% of money I paid for it as shipping and repackaging fees. At this point, I decided to ask my 6 years old son if he wanted to bake with me. He was thrilled! We baked together brownies, oatmeal cookies and strawberry shortcakes. He was excited and did about 90% of all preparations each time! I am talking about a boy who cannot sit for 15 minutes doing one thing. The Drop app provided good instructions and pictures (sometimes) how to prepare ingredients. The only cons are that it is a little bit too pricy for a scale and recipy list is somewhat limited. Hopefully, they will continue to add new recipies.

My family was in the market for a new food scale and we were intrigued by the Drop concept.As a food scale the device works as expected, we just wished there was some kind of display on the scale versus having to be dependent on a smart phone or tablet to see measurements. We were surprised at how well the scale works in conjunction with the recipes provided in the app. We really enjoyed making pizza dough from scratch. We also have enjoyed trying the different recipes and wish there were more!Drop recently started allowing people to submit their own recipes so we are hoping more recipes will continue to flow.
