Review: Old Couch/Sofa, Now Like New. - 1. I've never done spring repair before. 2. I'm 36 and consider myself a Jack of all Trades, but a Master of None. 3. I repaired an 11 year old, $500-$700 couch, we purchased from Big Lots. (American General Retail) 4. My springs were very weak. You really sank into the couch. Turned out the wire that connects to all the springs was broken in a couple spots. 5. I bought 4 packs, 16 springs in total to replace all my old ones. I left the old springs in because they were hard to remove. The old spring clips were not screwed in, but rather hammered in. They had sharp bits that go straight into wood. 6. This caused my couch to be very very firm. Almost as if I'm going to slid forward off of couch when sitting. Couch blanket tucked under remedies this. 7. I recommend removing the old springs if at all possible. I may end up still doing this and just re-clip the connecting wire all over again. 8. You get more than enough hardware -Spring clips/brackets -wire/spring connectors -and wire. 1 wire was enough to do 2 runs all the way down my couch. Still had enough for a 3rd if needed. 9. Tools I needed: -Drill and drill bit/Phillips screw driver head (pre-drill pilot holes to screw in Spring clip/brackets) -1 inch screws -Wire Cutters (to cut old wire and new) -Plyers (to crimp wire claps) -Staple gun to re-staple bottom couch dust cover. (I bought a new cover) Conclusion: Great product. Definitely strong springs. $100 made my 11 year old could feel brand new. Saved hundreds from buying a new couch.

**Q: Can tjis be done from the underside of sofa with tje foam stillnin as in those sofas tjwhere the cusion is prt of the whole cover and not separate?**
A: Yes, but you might have to add a board to the frame on the underside. We used wood screws and glue to attach a 1×2 board for the spring clips. It is harder to get the leverage to stretch the springs when doing it from the underside. You may also need to replace the foam in the cushions. For us it was worth it, sectional couch like new.

**Q: Are these couch Springs 27in if laid flat or does it account for the arch (around 1,2,or 3" rise in the center)?**
A: If you know the width inside the couch/seat/whatever, add a couple/few more inches to the length that you purchase. Then you can adjust the arch as you like. A ended up snipping off 2/3 humps to line things up with my existing springs.

**Q: I've got a couch that needs some new springs, the depth measured is 25", will these springs be sufficient?**
A: If the distance measured between the spring rails is 25" then these may be too long.  I'd suggest taking a look at the 25" springs that we we offer.

**Q: What kind of screws do you recommend?**
A: Depends. Are you screwing into metal or wood.

We had to replace a spring in our couch, and this one fixed it right up. Brought our couch back from being broken to looking and sitting like new again. Very easy to install and had everything you need to repair it.
