Cotz Face SPF 40

It’s not often that I feel the need to write a review on Amazon especially for something that is already so well reviewed, but I used this for years without issue and then switched to Paulas choice in an effort to upgrade my routine and started breaking out badly. While silicone-based products are not great for some people they work really well on my skin so I came back to cotz. Upon re-purchasing, what stands out to me most about this product is the texture which mimics benefits pore-fessional primer and fills in pores and acne scars and the subtle tint which counteracts redness. I use this instead of foundation and spot conceal and it is the perfect canvas that allows my Nars concealer to blend seamlessly into my skin. If I’m going to the beach I might wear a more thick milky consistency sunscreen but for every day use this is the perfect combination of primer and tinted moisturizer and my skin looks so much better with it. It’s not greasy it doesn’t burn and it doesn’t itch like a lot of other sunscreens do. personally I use a layer of rosehip oil on my skin first to thin it out, and this combination is the best I found to prevent breakouts and protect my skin from the sun so that my scars don’t turn brown or purple. Holy grail sunscreen.

I really love this stuff. It protects my skin and delivers a flawless “no makeup” look. I have acne prone skin, but this silicone based formula never breaks me out. I double cleanse before bed, so I’m sure that plays a part! Great quality and great price.

I burn super easily. I can apply this to my face just once and spend an entire day at the pool with no burning.A little goes a long way! I can use about a penny-sized amount for my whole face. And sometimes I even mix less than that with some lotion if it's just for casual skin protection.This has zero oily or greasy feeling. I hate the feeling of anything on my skin. I don't even wear makeup because it feels gross. But I willingly apply this just to go to the dog park for an hour because I don't even feel it. There are some 1 star reviews saying otherwise, but I think they just got an old tube, because I've repurchased this multiple times and it has never matched those descriptions.Do keep in mind, though, that this stuff is WATERPROOF. If your face wash does not remove makeup, it will not remove this sunscreen.The color might not be for everyone. Someone said it was orange on them. It is lightly tinted and looks fine on me, but I am a relatively "standard" white person. So, if you are very fair it may not work well for you. If you have darker skin it should look good. Since it is so light it will probably disappear on you like it does for me. Though I'm not a mocha lady so I can't promise!And for the person who said they got freckles after a year of wearing this.... I hate to be the one to tell you this, but that's called aging. Freckles appear regardless of sun exposure. In fact, I was born with some, and I promise my mama's belly has no windows!

I'm 30 and have extremely oily skin. I typically use about 5 oil absorbing sheets a day (if I'm mainly indoors and more if I am outdoors). This spf is so mattifying in a smoothing, comfortable and flattering way. I am able to use at least half the number of oil absorbing sheets I normally use and coverage lasts all day. This is my go-to for special events or long days when I want to look less shiny, which is my every day struggle. It works really well alone or with powder and does not cause acne breakouts for me. I use this right after my face wash. This is my favorite sunscreen - above the Australian Gold tinted sunscreen, which is a close second.

My dermatologist recommended I get this as studies have shown indoor light can cause as much damage as outdoor light; he suggested this because of both the iron oxide and tintedness since those combat indoor light. The texture is whipped which surprised me; if you are old enough to remember maybelline's dream matte mousse then you'll know exactly what I'm talking about (see photos) however, it does rub in really well and melts when it hits my face. I do think this texture has an increased chance of pilling if added to other products, though. Sun protection-wise it has done a great job! The tintedness is not too heavy and it doesn't look like I'm wearing much of anything.

This works great as a facial sunscreen, however I haven’t tried it for extreme sun exposure yet. I have lupus so I have to wear sunscreen even indoors and I haven’t had any reactions to any of the ingredients and overall I have had less reaction to light since using it.I am a very pale white person, and this sunscreen does not make me look orange or make my skin darker at all, it just evens out my rosy cheeks. It looks dark when it comes out of the tube but spreads fairly easy.I went on a vacation last year with my boyfriends family who is all Native American and brought a mineral sunscreen and It turned them all white tinted, did not rub in at all and they all thought it was hilarious 😬 that does not happen with this one! This would be a great product for those of darker skin who want a MINERAL sunscreen! If you’ve ever used a mineral sunscreen you’ll know a lot of them have a white effect to them that doesn’t blend in easily at all! For white people, it isn’t that big of a deal. But as a darker skinned person, you usually aren’t very happy with that effect. It also has a very matte finish to it and doesn’t leave you looking oily like a lot of sunscreens. Highly recommend! 😊
