The cable quality is good, it is flexible and sturdy. The connectors on the cable are generic, not Neutrik quality but better than Chinese Switchcraft. Nicely numbered. I took the box end apart to see how I might drill holes in it to screw it down. The 8 screws did not turn easily and as a result the heads got chewed up a little bit. Not really a big deal, but indicative of the corners cut on a "value" item. The connections from the cable to the connectors is all done on a circuit board, and all the cable shields are common. Changing out a bad jack could be a bit of work, because two screws from each connector have to come out, and you need to be able to find the same or very similar replacement connector. I think this would be perfect in the small studio, or a sheltered environment like I bought it for - board member microphones for monthly meetings. But if you are going to be on tour, beating this up every day, spend a bit more. Buy brand name connectors, and opt for wiring terminated directly to individually replaceable jacks. Don't get me wrong, I like this, and I think you will too, stick with Whirlwind, ProCo, or the other brands well established with big touring gigs. UPDATE: 02 22 2024. Due to a change in the installation, I had to unsolder all the XLR's to pass the cable through a small hole in a cabinet. When soldering on XLR male connectors, I push them onto the edge of a cardboard box to hold them in position. Been doing using that trick for years. I discovered that the plastic connector piece that holds the contact will soften with the heat of the soldering iron. I had to reheat a few pins to realign them. So if you need to remove and replace an end, plug the connector into an XLR female to hold things in position. The snake is working well for us and people are pleased the cables are finally organized.

Upon receiving this I checked the continuity of all 16 cables: everything checked out. I disassembled two of the connectors at the fan end: both had good strain relief and were well and cleanly soldered. I disassembled the box: everything was clean, the wires were tidily dressed, all the soldering was done by hand and was well done. I examined the materials: Everything is light weight but of good quality. Only the bags for the box and fan ends were poor: very thin material, minimally adequate sewing, lots of frayed fabric ends sticking out. I used this for two shows: one where I ran microphone signals from the stage to the AV table at the back of the house, and where I ran the mixer output signals from the back of the house to the power amplifiers backstage (for the front of house speakers). With gains turned up higher than normal I got more power hum than expected and some faint radio station broadcasts. I did not have time to investigate before show time, but at normal gain levels it worked fine. It's possible that this is a sign that the cable shielding is not so great, but I rather suspect that this was probably due to a ground loop problem, since I had parts of the system plugged in at both the front and back of the house. In my second show I only ran line-level signals from the AV table at the back of the house to a remotely controlled digital mixer onstage and had no hint of noise. Judging from the materials, I rate this snake as being suitable for amateur, prosumer and coffee-house-style use. Within this category of use I expect this snake to perform reliably and to last for many years. I do not think it is sturdy enough to hold up to the rough and tumble of touring use, and would not recommend it for such.

Handy for the front vocals and monitor returns. use it every show, 4 vocals, 4 monitors. Avoids 8 long cable runs back to the board. 12' across the front (fast coil-up). Load-in, for the load-out bud!

First thing I noticed was the individual cabling seemed really small and fragile. First thought was this will never work for gigging. It was not very expensive. Didn’t bother me because once I hook it up it will never get moved. I installed it in my in my studio. First line I plugged into did not work. Checked connections, numbers ... nope Bad line. plugged in another , it worked but I got horrible crackling whoever I moved the cable. If that’s the norm not good for a studio and flimsy for gigging. I wouldn’t trust it. 2 Stars because it is a snake and it probably a quality control problem with the crackling and dead line. I did not check the other lines.**Update I was slow in removing it from my studio. I decided to give it another try. No problems. All I can attribute it to is user stupidity. I was sure I checked the line to match my ends. No horrible crackling. It’s been 2 weeks. Everything has been working fine. My review still stands about the fragile cable. Seems good for a studio. I don’t know about gigging with it. Next time I’ll wait a bit before reviewing something. Apologies to all.

This is a very good value. I’m using it with my Allen & Heath CQ18T. It takes up one row of my 16 mic inputs and sends to 4 floor monitors. It’s great for bands that do their own sound from the stage. I as one of the players can lay out the snake and tell everyone (6 of us) to plug themselves in so I can go about setting my own setup without everyone hovering around the mixer and guitar rig. The 25’ is appropriate for this application too. Love it. Sturdy construction too.

This is a great snake with everything you need to run sound for a small to moderate venue. I tested all of the input and output channels upon arrival, and everything worked great. The snake comes with protective covers on both ends to protect the ins/outs from dust when not in use. It's also nice and compact, so it easily fits in the back of my rack unit (photo included for perspective), so it's always there if I need it. I'm not a professional sound engineer, and I don't play a lot of gigs, but when I do, it's very difficult to mix audio from the stage. Running a snake to a front-of-house area where someone with a good ear and even minimal engineering experience can adjust the mix is always going to be better.

The Seismic 25 foot 16 channel snake is a sturdy cabling option ideal for small live venues, rehearsal studios and recording facilities. I use mine in a basement rehearsal studio, connecting 15 channels from microphones recording guitars, bass and drums (my 16th channel is a line level feed from the vocal PA mixer, so there's one open) to my 16 channel firewire recording interface. I've used cable-only snakes, but it gets confusing finding all the cables on the far end. This all-metal box is a sturdy single point to connect all your microphone cables. There are 4 channels in "reverse" to allow the board operator to talk to the musicians on stage (or means to get other remote sounds onto the stage). I'm not using these reverse channels. All the XLR connectors on the cable end seem high quality and work perfectly. Same with the output connectors on the metal box, all work perfectly. Can't say how well it will react to a cable getting tripped over and pulled out. 25 feet is more than enough for most rehearsal space applications... might be a little short for all but the smallest live rooms. This is a value priced snake with the metal box -- most others cost twice as much and have double the cord length (Seismic has more options with longer cords). Very happy with my purchase.
