Good product- misleading advertisement.
First of all, I'd like to say that the picture in this add is misleading and the part number listed is wrong. When you order this, you ONLY receive the female end of the 7 way connector (the one that goes on the truck), not both pieces. Also, the part number is NOT 12-707. The correct number is 12-705, which you can see in the picture and this is the part number I received. All that said, this is a good product at a good price. I used this to replace the exact same part on my truck that had corroded and no longer makes a good connection. The spring on the cover of mine wore out, which let in road salt and grime. Still, the first one lasted 14 years, so I can't complain.I have never installed one of these before, but I found the process to be simple. If you can wire a residential light switch or outlet, you can replace this socket. The wire connections are the same. Just like replacing an outlet, the only difficult thing is if you don't have enough tail on the wires to work with. The wiring colors are molded into the connector, so you just need to make solid connections with the corresponding colored wires. It is important that you make solid and waterproof connections that will hold up to life under a truck. After making sure that the wires were correctly and solidly connected, I covered all the fittings with dielectric grease and carefully taped everything so as to be weatherproof. The whole process took about an hour, but half of that was fighting to get the rusted old socket out of the connector. Tools needed:philips screwdriverwire stripperweatherproof electric tape (by the good kind)dielectric grease

Slick as Snot
Arrived as advertised. Male probes receive the female connectors from my RV (which you normally would connect to your towing vehicle). Bought some 12AWG wire from the hardware store to make a connection for my solar panel-Controller. Now I can connect the RV's (trailer) towing connection to this socket (after wiring it to have the "black =current"/white=ground) and it leads to my solar source which charges my DC deep cycle for the trailer. Socket has connectors labeled once you take it apart to wire.

I bought this with the male counterpart so I replaced ...
I bought this with the male counterpart so I replaced the receptacle in the truck bed as well as the plug on the end of the RV cord. The fit between the 2 is a little loose. When I have the male plug fully seated in the receptacle there's enough slop in the fit to allow the plug to sag downward a little, but enough to where the catch tab on the lid of the receptacle no longer engages the plug. I use a small bungie cord wrapped around the lid of the receptacle and plug to ensure they stay together.

Great connections, solid plastic housings
A product name that can be trusted. I have been using these setups for years on installs i do for people. When i tell them what to buy, it is Pollak! Great connections, solid plastic housings, and every time you need it to work, it just does! Inner setup is built to last and screws hold everything tightly. Main wire hold down seals in everything nicely. Thank you.
