Great Shorts: Very True-to-Size & 10L = Regular
Great shorts. They are very well made and lightweight. Warning: they are very true-to-size. Most pants manufactured today are larger than the listed waist. I'm sure they do that on purpose, but just take any pants out of your closet and measure the waist and it will likely be one or two inches larger than the listed size. Not these, they are very true-to-size. Also, the 10L is "regular," per the tag and 12L is "tall." Also, the fit is nice. A lot of shorts are overly baggy and tend to have very wide leg openings. These are akin to straight leg jeans; not skinny and not relaxed, but just in the middle.

Perfect shorts for hot humid weather
I have owned the long pants version of these Cargo shorts, and found them light weight, breathable, and fast drying if they get wet. I have always been a Cotton fan for breath ability, but these all NYLON! pants are amazingly cool and comfortable. The cargo pockets provide great security with velcro or zipper features, and the pants even come with a quick clip belt...which of course can get wet without worries. I got the 10 inch inseam, which I thought might be too long, but they work perfectly for me. I liked these so much, I ordered them in another color. Lets say I am a fan.

Great shorts--lightweight, quick drying, good sized pockets, but a few design flaws
These shorts have some great aspects. They are lightweight and quick drying. The pockets are a good size. The waistband has some give, but they should have more. They are comfortable while standing, but they get too tight when I sit down. The right cargo pocket has two design flaws. First, it's rotated around so far to the right that you end up sitting on whatever is in it. Second, it's got this oddly placed single Velcro closure; it's only on the left side of the pocket flap and doesn't keep it shut. It's too small and it's only on one side. There should be two and a bit larger, one on each side of the flap or, if you have to have only one, then it should be in the middle and be much bigger. Having said all that, these are still the best cargo shorts I've found. I had gotten some other cargo shorts from Duluth Trading that I liked a couple years ago, but they changed the design and the color choices so now they don't come in black, really show sweat badly, and aren't really quick drying. The original design of those shorts was better than their new one, but these Columbia shorts are much lighter and quicker drying (and cost less). I have looked around at a bunch of other shorts and can't find any better than these Columbia shorts.

Best shorts ever.
Pros: Great fit, not too tight or too loose. I am 5'10" 193lbs 34/35" waist and got 36x10. Would not get a different size! Sits just above the knee. Fast drying material. Material is on the thin side, which is great. Not a fan of heavier shorts. Easily washed in the sink - dried over night. Belt is standard, but too long for me. Need to trim it so there isn't too much excess. Cons: Belt length. Small velcro patch for pockets. Overall, great shorts. Bought a couple of colors and will get a couple more when the price is right. Wore several different pairs of these to a week long vacation at Disney World. They held up great against the heat, and I never worried when it rained because I knew these would quickly dry. Very comfortable.

Light, cool, quick to dry, wick moisture away.
This ripstop nylon material is treated to wick away perspiration. You will stay incredibly dry and cool in the heat wearing these. It is important to be aware that these are sold in 2 different lengths. A taller man should choose the longer length. These lightweight shorts wouldn't be your choice to wear mountain climbing, but are great for a peaceful hike or pick-up summer sports or, especially, a hot day spent in an amusement park. These would also be great for water rides or boating because they dry in a New York Minute. The side zippered pocket is plenty big enough to hold your wallet AND phone securely so you can move through crowds with confidence.

Very good shorts.
Very nice shorts. They are hard to find in stores now. This is the short academy sold but has since stopped selling.

Size up, son.
I originally bought these without trying them on, from a department store that rhymes with Prick's. I owned a couple pairs a few years ago, and loved how lightweight, and quick-drying they were. However, my past joy soon became a sort of angry sadness, as my regular size was very tight in my man-junk area. Nevertheless, momma didn't raise no quitter, and I willed myself to wear these an ENTIRE DAY, just to prove a point, though the reason eludes me now. Though obviously past my prime, I foresaw a future of a long, slow castration by nylon. Having your testicles compressed will make you ANGRY. (That's my secret: I'm ALWAYS angry) ...MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE HALL OF JUSTICE: I frantically surfed the web and found Amazon had a better price on several, but not all, colors. When I searched the word "size", in the Reviews, I found multiple recommendations to SIZE UP. I immediately returned the undersized overgarment to the store whose name makes many men fearful of revealing how much they love it. Before leaving, I made certain to try THE NEXT SIZE UP in-store. I was surprised to find a them a perfect fit. I know you didn't ask, but I have a bit larger than average quads, bro, and glutes for daaayzzze. So, unless you have the legs of a bird, and you left your a$$ in your other pants - Size up, son!

Sizing runs small
While I love the material and design of these shorts, you will need to order two sizes larger than your usual size for them to fit. They run very small, and the marked sizes are not true to fit. The nylon shorts are comfortable, especially in hot weather. There is no stretch to these shorts. The pockets are convenient and have plenty of room for all the essential things.
