Hydrofarm Agrobrite Designer T5, FLP44, 216W 4 Foot, 4-Tube Fixture with Lamps Fluorescent Grow Light, 4-Feet/4-Tube, Brown

This year I did a lot of container gardening so I could bring some of my vegetable plants and herbs inside in the fall. We dont get enough light in the windows because of the roof overhangs so I had to get lights. These Agrobrite grow lights arrived in their originial manufacturers product box which kinda annoyed me. But both lights arrived in perfect working condition with no damage. They were ready to hang right out of the box. I purchased pully rope hangers with carbomer latches and it was a breeze to hang and then bring up or down to the desired height.Since Ive never used these before, I wanted to avoid scorching the plants, so started off putting the lights in a fairly high position (approx 2.5 - 3 feet from the top of my eggplant & basilplants. It has been 3 days and the plants look better than they did outside because it had gotten suddenly much colder outside at night here in jersey.So I got the plants inside just in time before they started to shrivel. I have to say that besides helping the plants, these fixtures give off a very pleasant light and the high lumens have been better for our moods too. I expect people with S.A.D could possibly benefit from having this kind of light in the room they spend the most time in. We hung one in our kitchen dinette area and another in our living room over the succulents and herbs. It feels so much nicer now. (I like light & visibility!) Hoping it will be of benefit to my teens as well. Had then on 10 hours straight each day and no flickering. They are silent (no buzzing). I have the 4 bulb/4ft fixtures. The entire unit is sturdy & well made. Nothing flimsy about it. Bulbs come out easy by turning them. I tested it & the fixtures still functions if you take 2 bulbs out. I may lower then a little and add a timer. Will update my review in a few months.

My first impression of this light has it at 5 stars. Mine came in with no major damage. There was one slight ding on the top of the casing but fortunately nothing on the light side where it matters most. This light is very bright and has a very intense light it puts out so it will work great for hardening off plants for when they go outside. Keep in mind however it does put off some heat. It is more than I expected. This isn't a bad thing, you just have to adjust for that. I started some sweet pepper and tomato seeds in peat pellets and left the plastic dome on top of it. I had the T5 fixture 4 inches above the plastic dome and I had a heat mat underneath. The temperature inside the dome tray rapidly rose to 102 degrees F and I need it to be around 80-85F. I turned off the heat mat and raised the light fixture so my temperature is starting to equalize at my target temp. Overall I am very happy with this light fixture. I have it mounted on a 4 foot wide, 5 shelf wire stand in my back bathroom where there was plenty of room. It has a great cosmetic look to it so it is not ugly like a lot of shop lights would be.

I purchased the Hydrofarm FLP44 4-Feet/4-Tube T5 Designer System with Bulbs as a gift for my wife to put over a small herb/orchard garden. I wanted a light that was aesthetically pleasing so it could be placed in a bay window in our formal dining room just off our kitchen. I was trying to avoid having an ugly light setup hidden away that require a hike to the basement to gather herbs for dinner.From a functionality standpoint, the light is perfect. It puts out more than adequate light for growing our herbs (mint, basil, cilantro, parsley chives and tarragon) but it's not so bright that it makes the room unpleasant.The light shipped to me in only the original manufacturer's packaging. It appears the manufacturer attempted to seal the box with two small pieces of "hydrofarm" branded packaging type tape. Both pieces of tape had come undone. Someone, probably Amazon?, had added a larger/stronger piece of woven tape which had also torn and come undone. The box wasn't gaping open, but it wasn't sealed. The box showed some small dings along the outer edges of the top and bottom front and rear.When I un-packaged the light, I discovered a small dent along the upper rear edge at approximately the center of the light and another small dent a couple inches inside from the first (on the top of the light). Since the light was a gift for my wife and I wanted it to be perfect, I contacted Amazon and they graciously agreed to replace it. Unfortunately, the second light had worse dings in almost the same spots. Also, the second light had a bulb that was much dimmer than the other three. As the light was a gift and I needed it immediately, I decided to keep the first light.Other than the dents, the lights meet our needs perfectly. The metal is a lightly textured powder coated brown and the hardware is clean and matches nicely. The included hangars are a thin wire covered with a fine black wrapping (think guitar string). The unit is elegant and sleek enough to put into a nicely furnished room without looking too out of place.I'm not sure if the lights are being damaged in transit or if Hydrofarm has problems with their manufacturing or quality control processes. Whatever the case, it would've perfect for my needs if it weren't for the dents so I'm giving it 4 stars.See uploaded pictures for more comments.

I found the four T5 bulbs to be too much light for my application. So, I called Hydrofarm, and they told me how to use two at a time. After several years, I switched to two LED's, for less heat generated. I then began to have troubles with the LED's burning out every few months.I called Hydrofarm, and we went step by step, replacing parts under warranty that might be the culprit. Nothing worked, so we decided that with LED's anyway, one should simply run four at a time. So I was appreciative, and said I'd just go back to florescent bulbs.Then, they blew me away by offering to send me a two bulb unit, for free! The quality of the build on these units is far better than what I have seen in a very long time. This offer is so far beyond what I expect today in customer service that I really don't know what to say! I know where I'll buy in the future, for sure!

Haven't had the T5 Designer for very long yet, but already I'm very happy with it. The item was well packaged (with plenty of styrofoam in between each tube), and arrived in perfect condition. I built a small custom enclosure out of PVC and adjustable pulleys so that I can always keep my plants just a few inches from the light, and I'm really happy that I spent a little extra for the Designer model (vs the Agrobrite) as the build quality is great! Moreover, the reflectors do a great job of maximizing the amount of light shining on my plants. I've added a photo of what my setup looks like, but don't have many plants running under it yet!

Survived shipping. Unit is built fairly nice. One of the bulbs pulsed for the first day and it made me worried but I believe they were still breaking in because it went to normal after that. Growing 2 tomato plants about a 16 inches away and they are enormous after 1 month, so it works.

This is a very well put together light. Ran like a dream for the first 3 years and now it has some issues with getting hot. Bulbs were easy to replace with t5's you can find here on Amazon. I am just buying a second one now so I more than recommend this for your indoor garden.
