Well-Written Adventure Story with an Incredible Message
A friend recommended this book. I read the whole thing in one sitting. I was so engrossed by the characters, the setting, the adventure and suspense that I seriously could not put this book down until I finished it. Parts of this story were so suspenseful my heart was pounding. I once lived in South Carolina where the story is set, and from the descriptive writing I could almost see the Spanish moss in the live oaks and smell the swamp and the paper mill. The characters were also genuine and believable. The main character, Ben, makes a huge mistake that changes the course of his life and the lives of others. While running away from his mistake, he meets a man who had once been in the same situation. This gentle man speaks love and truth to Ben, without judgment. I was totally surprised by the book's ending and I can't wait for the sequel to see what further adventures the author has for Ben and the other characters.Overall, this book was very well-written and descriptive and has a great message. I enjoyed it so much I am buying more to give as gifts. Read this book!! You won't regret it.

A story that takes you in
Firing Squad is a fairly strange title but this isn't just another ordinary book. The characters are credible; you want to find out more about them. At the same time, you feel as if you might know one or two of them already. You may even find yourself rooting for them. The attention to detail takes you right into each scenario. If you've never been in the deep South, you'll know what a piece of it's like after reading this. If you have been there, this will take you back. Firing Squad is not a short story but is a fast read if you find yourself not able to put it down. I enjoyed it so much that I bought a few of them to give as Christmas presents.
