Sioux Chief Brown Oakum

Is brown as described, although photo shows more green. Def still some green - but obvious coloration due to natural origin of substance.Great for shoving into old hardwood floors and then covering with tiny sealant/wood glue to fill any gaps /cracks.Also used for an older pipe plumbing joint and compared to any tape for same purpose - this Oakum works much better.oily out of package, but open and let sit in garage for a day or so. or just towel off.Great item.

This is the real deal. With all small hardware stores gone it is great that you carry this product. Excellent for steam radiator valve repair and for sealing my cast iron drain pipes.

The product is exactly as described and I appreciate the limited packaging. No need to pollute the environment needlessly.

This stuff has been around for 100's of years. Use to build boats. They put it between the boards to keep them water prof.I used it to fix a leaking wood water tank. Replacing it would cost several thousand dollars and it was easy to pound this in the cracks that were leaking with a putty knife. Within a couple hours the tank outside was dry as a bone!

Worked perfectly to stop leak between cast iron and ABS

Works well as chinking instead of calk sealant in the heat where sealants can either break down or make the seal so permanent that future repair is a pain.

OK, so I didn't know what oakum was until a Coastie told me that it is what they use to plug holes in ships. Huh. So I purchased it as a gag gift. BUT, in doing so, did some reading and am sure I'll find a use for it. What an original product and good to know something so simple is still being manufactured. Bravo Sioux Chief for carrying on the tradition!
