Lucky the product description wasn't complete!
This is a case of a seller being just a little (not forthright). I would not have bought this if I had realized that it was almost 100 percent plastic. And since the photo sucks so bad you can't read the model number.... Its an Edgecraft model # 607E. But here's the strange irony of it all. I trusted the single and only review as written by Monique L and to her credit ended up with a great slicer that I wouldn't had even considered due to the plastic legs. So up front, be aware that the leg or support portions under both the blade section as well as under the thickness knob are 100 percent plastic. Now for the good news..... does this slicer slice...? You bet! I ran beef roast, bread loaves, tomatoes and cucumbers, as well as a egg and cheese souffle that I shared with my neighbors. This slicer rocks and just as Monique said... it's quiet and slices very well. It does break down quite easily for cleaning and the motor never once bogged down even though I purposely forced the roast to see if it would. The motor is fused and the manufacturer has included an extra fuse in the event of an overload. It does have the plastic gears that everyone mentions in the other Edgecraft/Chefschoice reviews and it recommends Vaseline as the lubricant to use on the gears. My first slicer so I really have no comparison... but I do like this slicer... I'll report back if it acts up!

Does the Job
This is the only slicer I have ever used or owned. I needed something to cut mostly vegetables. I like to prepare cut vegs for cooking and I keep the cook stuff in the frig. I got tired of slicing them, and fingers, so decided to try an electric slicer. I looked for something reasonably easy to clean and straightforward. This one works well, and easy to clean. There are only four parts to wash and it is easy to dry off after a scrub. I do recognize it is a light weight machine, basically a plastic model with plastic gears etc, so don't expect to throw a moose on it. Works for me...so far!

Nice little slicer at nice price.
Only used it twice but easy to use, slices effortlessly, cleans easy. Only issue so far is that sliced meats fall on top of thickness dial instead of, say, a plate or wax paper.

Works well but pricing seems to vary greatly
So far we've used this just once on a Costco turkey breast and it sliced it well for sandwiches though probably not as super thin like you might get from the deli. It is well designed for cleaning. Even though it is mostly plastic, the feet held it in place perfectly on our Corian counter-top. Be sure to read instructions before using and cleaning. Watch pricing on this item because it seems to vary dramatically.

Easy to use, relatively easy to clean, blows fuses
The media could not be loaded. UPDATE 9/30/2020 - It's been right at 3 months since I got this slicer. In that time I have used it 3 times. The first use is mentioned in my original review below. The second use was for a slab of bacon (approx 9 lbs). The third use was today, for a loaf of zucchini bread. I made 2 slices into the loaf of bread and the fuse in the slicer blew. A fuse is a cheap and easy replacement but I expected one to last longer than 2.5 uses. Based on that I am dropping my rating to 3 stars.I don't generally review items the same day I get them, but I was pretty happy with this slicer so I decided to go ahead. For the price point, this seems to be an excellent slicer. I used it to slice about 8 lbs of home cured bacon that was chilled but not frozen. I followed that up with three min loaves of fairly dense (ie: poorly proofed) sourdough bread. The time spent opening the package, cleaning and assembling the slicer, slicing the bacon and bread, fully re-cleaning the slicer twice (once between bacon and bread, once when finished), and repacking the slicer in the box was definitely less than what I used to spend just slicing a slab of bacon. The best part was, I had no hand pain AND had (mostly) consistent slices! My thoughts:~The machine is much lighter weight than I expected. It is heavy enough that it mostly stays in place during use, but once in a while it will shift a bit.~The food tray is smaller than I hoped. See the video and photo for examples. The video shows a half slab, the photo shows a full slab. Since I usually slice my slabs in half, this isn't a concern for me but if you are doing a full slab of bacon or something similar, you will need to slice it at least in half, and even then you will likely need to use your hand as a pusher for the first little bit (not recommended but really, we all do it!).~Other reviews talk about the noise. Yes, the slicer is noisy, but not nearly as noisy as others will have you believe. It wasn't so noisy that I couldn't hear the audiobook that was playing on my ipad.~Other reviews mention how easy the machine is to clean. Yes, it is easy to clean, but not nearly as easy as others would have you believe. However, it still only took a few minutes for me to consider it clean.~The blade spins slower than I expected. It still spins fast enough that it will grab whatever you are slicing and "push" it through. It would also very effectively take off a fingertip if you are not careful. I would NOT attempt to slice bones with it.~There is a slight overhang where the blade meets the frame and whatever you are slicing may get caught there. This is more likely to happen if you are going slow. Move with a consistent and moderately fast motion and you will be fine.~Be sure to get the optional straight blade if you will be using this slicer for meats.~Do not fall for the Amazon recommendation to buy the lube. It is fine, but the included instructions say you can use Vaseline instead.I wouldn't consider this a 5 star food slicer overall. But from what I have seen so far, it is definitely a 4 star slicer and for the price point it is very close to being a 5 star slicer. It will definitely make my life easier when it comes to bacon, meat for jerky, charcuterie boards, and more and I would not hesitate to recommend this slicer.

Deli sliced meat at home tastes better
I purchased originally to slice a prosciutto ham. Worked well, but you'll need the straight edged blade for another $25 to better cut meats. Its worth it for sure. Now I use it to cut all kinds of meat, sausage, Costco chicken(cut off the bone first), leftover steak. Biggest challenge is cutting thru an entire deli package of meat(4-5#) before the meat goes bad. But if feeding a few mouths or using sausage, salami or prosciutto, you have a much larger window of time.

Great home meat slicer!
Pretty good for the money. It works great. I make vegan meats and use it to slice up the loaf into sandwich meat. Works perfect!

Works great, but not made in USA as advertised.
My only regret was that it was advertised as being made in USA, it's not, it's made in China. Also this comes with the serrated blade and some of the reviewers said that a non-serrated blade was needed to slice meat so I ordered a non-serrated blade when I got this. The accessory blade has not been used. I have used the slicer for slicing bread, cheese, raw meat, and roasted meat. It has done a really good job of slicing all. Don't waste your money on getting the non-serrated blade.

Muy útil
No me gusto : según el seguimiento del producto , cuando llega a Mexico , es muy lento desde la frontera a la CDMX, parece que lo transportan en bicicleta , tardan 10 días aproximadamente en llegar al destino

It's neither fast nor efficient...
May be great for cheese but for something more challenging like a boneless Jamon leg, it proved ineffectual. And the blade will not come off for cleaning. Almost blistered my thumb in the attempts. Speaking of thumbs, both down on this product.
