Philips Hue Smart 60W A19 LED Bulb - White and Color Ambiance Color-Changing Light - 2 Pack - 800LM - E26 - Indoor - Control with Hue App - Works with Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Homekit

Ever since I went to a large electronics retail store near me to get something totally different than these bulbs and saw the Philips Hue demonstrated in concert with what I was looking for, I was hooked on them. I have them throughout my home and have them in my office at work. I have about 30 of them in my house and 10 of them in my office. To say the least, I am more than satisfied with the Philips Hue products. Now the review… Philips have been making bulbs for many years and then when they broke into the industry of smart wifi bulbs, they became quite the hit. Pair the hue bulbs with the Hue Bridge and the app, one’s creative side can really shine. The Build Quality. These bulbs have a little heft to them whereas there is a lot of technology that needs to be crammed into a space the size … well the size of a light bulb. The build quality in my opinion is pretty solid and done well. The illumination part diffuses the LEDs used in these bulbs are very smooth and do not see any hot spots whatsoever from the LEDS inside. The colors produced from the RGB LEDS are pretty rich and vibrant but as in every RGB style bulb, the light output will vary from color to color and different white temperatures. Case in point. If you choose the bulbs to light up in blue, the overall Lumens factor will be less than if you choose to use Yellow or other bright colors of the spectrum. But if you go with the white ambiance aspect, the whites will pretty much be equal in Lumens factor from the lower temperature like 2700K to the higher temperatures like 6500k. Features. These bulbs are full of them when you connect them with the Hue bridge. You can have them turn on and off with the use of Google Home, Assistant or Alexa. You can turn them on or off with the use of the user-friendly app and even turn them on or off when you are out and about as long as you have the app connected to the cloud server set up within your smart home. You can set up various different scenes as long as you have multiple Hue Bulbs. Scenes really don’t look great or seems simplistic if you have just one bulb. To get the best results, I recommend 5 or more of the Hue Bulbs in a room to get the different color scenes to show off well. (Refer to the bedroom pic I posted with this review.) The latest versions of the Hue Bulbs can be operated via Bluetooth on the dedicated Bluetooth version of the Hue app. So, with bulbs having the Bluetooth technology, you do not need to have the Hue Bridge. The downside to that is you will not be able to set up multiple rooms and you can only control 10 Hue Bulbs via Bluetooth vs. up to 50 Hue Bulbs with using the Hue Bridge. If there is anything that would be considered a downfall to these bulbs, is they are a bit on the pricy side. I have a few thousand dollars invested in my Hue Echo System and love everything about these bulbs. That would be the only flaw I can find with them. The Recap. These are some of the top of the line of smart bulbs. Can you find cheaper bulbs as far as costs is concerned? Yes, you can. But the saying goes, “You get what you pay for.” And that holds true with these bulbs. If you are willing to invest into the Hue System, you won’t be disappointed.

I ended up preferring these over the other Hue bulbs I tried because the ultra-low dimming makes a noticeable difference. The biggest reason I bought these was for softer lighting at night, and being able to dim them down to around 0.2% is much nicer for that. They work really well as a night light or for low ambient lighting without feeling too bright. Setup was easy in the Hue app, and like other Philips Hue bulbs, they felt responsive and reliable. The light quality is smooth, the dimming works well, and they integrated without any issues with my smart home setup. For regular use they are great, but the real standout feature is how low they can go compared to other bulbs. If you just want a standard smart bulb, there are cheaper options out there. But if you specifically care about very low dimming for bedrooms, hallways, or nighttime lighting, these are definitely the better choice.

I love these lights, I use 6 A19 bulbs and 4 BR30 bulbs for the kitchen. I have the 6 bulbs spread between 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. I started getting these in 2018, and have bought a couple more each year. So far, I have had no issues. I see some low reviews for Google Assistant, I can't say anything on the Google stuff - I use the Hue Hub and Echo Show/Echo dots. Using Hue Hub and Echo, I've so far never had a connection issue with these bulbs, like I have had with cheaper bulbs I tried in the past. I have bedroom lights set to turn on when my alarm goes off, and they have never failed so far. Echo and Hub both find the lights right away, and I can set routines with either app. I never bothered to look at the instructions the bulbs come with, if you have connected any smart devices to apps before, there isn't much to it. Turn on the bulb, and Echo/Hub will find it. Just note that if you have a power outage, the bulbs will typically turn themselves ON when power is back...that can be a little jarring at 3am! You can also set the bulb to remember it's last setting, so if you flick off/on the light switch (normally leave the switch ON all the time), it will turn on at the same color/brightness it was last. I use the base wattage bulbs, and they have been perfect for me, but I generally keep my lights lower, such as 10% for bedroom lighting, and around 60% for my kitchen. At 100%, it's more than bright enough for me. Colors look great, and make my home office way more comfortable. Using a setting like "energize" in the office helps my eyes feel less sore, I'm big on setting just the right color for working. I have given these lights a 5, because I have never had an issue with the 10 total I have (and may be getting 4 more today), I've never had an issue between these bulbs and my phone apps Echo/Hue Hub, lighting is great and color is what I wanted in a bulb. I love smart-lights, and after testing cheaper ones, these have been much easter to work with (in my experience), and unlike my old ones they have always stayed connected to my apps. 3 years so far with never having to reconnect is a win for me. Just bear in mind, I can only speak to using Echo and Hue Hub with them.

Philips Hue light bulbs are like having a personal sunrise simulator in your home. They're so bright and cheerful, they make me feel like I'm waking up on a tropical island instead of in my dingy apartment. And if I ever need to set the mood for a romantic evening, I just dim those bad boys down low and boom! Instant ambience. My only complaint is that they're not great for taking selfies, but I guess you can't have everything. Here’s what changed my life though. I haven’t touched my light switch SINCE buying these bad boys. Dear golly you hook these lights up on your phone and a Apple HomePod your house turns to heaven. “Hey siri turn on lights” BOOM, let there be light.. “hey siri turn off light” BOOM your back in the dark ages. “Hey siri turn the lights red at 20%” BOOM bring out the rose pedals and champagne. If you got the dough the make your whole house full of these you can separate the lights into rooms. So “siri turn on kitchen lights/ porch lights/ bedroom lights/ have a disco party in the bathroom.” Whatever you need. hate getting in/out of bed and messing with the lights? Have Siri do it. You ever walk outside your house or apartment to see you left the lights on? Scroll down on your phone and Tap the lights and BOOM theyre off. No need to go back inside or waste energy. Absolutely game changing I will NEVER go back to normal lights TLDR: Game-changing, sunrise simulator, surprisingly insanely convenient, incredibly smart, extremely customizable with their app, WORTH the money. The conscience it has brought has been so worth. Also got my first pair of bulbs in 2017 and they STILL work to this day. GET THE PHILIPS HUE HUB TO MAXIMIZE BULBS

Love these. Go all in on it for everything in your house if you decide to use this brand. It’s easier to just get used to it all on your phone. Well not all at once. Yes it’s expensive but very convenient. Love setting the mood and being able to dim in general. Also you can now set timers for when things come on. Handy this time of year to buy the plug adapter for turning the Christmas tree on and off

These are completely compatible with all the systems including Apple Home Kit. The Hues app (free) makes set up completely simple, and offers many "fun" features to play with. The color bulbs are fun to add ambiance and mood. You can use the Hue app to easily set "scenes" or "easily programmed settings", timed automations, etc... or you can do those things completely integrated with Siri, Alexa, etc. I wish they were a bit brighter, but they are adequate for a lamp bulb. They are a bit expensive for the color bulbs, but given the flexibility, long life, and low cost of operation... you get a lot of features. Think carefully about your application and whether you will use the color feature in the intended location beyond the "novelty" timeframe. If not, the "non-color" white bulbs are much cheaper and do provide various "colors" (temperatures) of white light from warm (yellow-orange) to cool (bluer-white). If you will have multiple bulbs in the same room that you don't intend to have at differing intensities, then perhaps regular "dumb" LEDs with a smart dimmer might be a better option. If you want color & independent control... these are probably the best option.

I started my journey with smart bulbs about 5 years ago. I bought a round of the Costco options, and two separate Amazon cheap brands. With each purchase I learned something. You need to know how you want to manage your lights, if multiple brands are compatible, do they require (or work with) Google/Alexa/Apple home. If I could go back and do it all again I would save my money and invest entirely in PhilipsHue. If you think you want color options, don’t buy the cheaper white bulbs to test it out. Just buy the color bulbs, one at a time if that’s what you can afford. We have been thrilled with the products we have ordered from this brand, but I do wish I had just bit the bullet and started with the color bulbs. Even now I watch for a sale and buy one or two new bulbs to replace old non smart or white only options. Commit to one brand (my advice is choose the best!) control all your lights in one place - you will need at least one bridge device. Automations are so easy to set, lights are easy to control from an app. We use an iPad for our pet/house sitters.

I love these lights . Depending in what mood I’m in, I adjust the lights to it. They are easy to set up also.
