Good field of view and overall excellent quality - a superb lens!
OK, so this lens has some mild vignetting, some softness in corners when wide open (but cured by stopping down to f4), and so on. Compared to the 20mm and the 30mm, it is generally the lowest rated overall of the three (though it seems to be moving up the ranks lately). But...it has something they don't -- a very wide field of view! It's center sharpness is excellent, by the way, and it compares very well to other manufacturer's 16mm lenses (beating most, if not all, in a similar price range, and even a few more expensive competitors). Plus it's the fastest (at f2.4) 16mm available currently. Overall it is very good to excellent, I'd say.So, for someone like me, who shoots a lot of landscapes, street scenes, flowers, insects, sometimes at weird angles, and some far shots, again at a creative angle usually, this is an interesting tool. As one who likes to be able to cover a wide angle of view in his compositions and who can live with the very minor shortcomings noted above...this lens is a good choice, especially at the very reasonable price asked. It also makes your Samsung a slimmer, nicer looking camera which is great for walk-abouts and quick off the cuff shots. So, as pretty much the only choice for a really wide angle prime for your Samsung NX camera, I give this 4 stars (since updated to 5 stars!). As I gain more experience with it, I will come back and update with comments on actual image quality in real life situations. (See updates - outstanding lens!)*** Update: Raised my rating to 5 stars as I am very pleased with the shots I am getting. Also, the AF (Auto-focus) is faster than the 20-50mm Zoom (and less finicky) and the manual focus works well. Overall, I like the handling better than the (excellent) 20-50mm Zoom and I very much like the more compact profile. But the big win remains the wider field of view. I am enjoying that aspect very much. This is the lens that will be mounted on my camera by default.*** Update: It was a beautiful, sunny day this past Sunday and I had a chance to take my Samsung NX1000 and this new lens to a local park for some test shots. I've uploaded a few (in "customer images" and downsized for web) to give you an idea of the field of view you get with this lens. I loved every minute shooting with it. [ For some reason, Amazon has removed the images, not sure why? ]*** Update: I continue to be very happy with this lens. It's a true joy to shoot with. More versatile than I expected. I get good close-ups and gorgeous landscapes. I am having a blast with it and that's what it's all about, right? This lens opens new doors in terms of composition and really broadens the creative options at my disposal.*** Jan 2015 Update: I have now used this on NX-20, NX-300 and others, always with great results. Some of the newer smaller and very thin and trim Samsungs (e.g. NX-3000) might make a good match for this lens and will give you a very light and compact from factor. They all use versions of the same basic APS-C sensor which is truly excellent, so you will still have the same great image quality.

For the price, you can't beat it.
This is a nice 16mm prime lens. It gets the job done nicely, but I wasn't blown away with clarity and sharpness. For the price, it is the best landscape photography lens available for NX.

Easy and Compact, with minimal distortion.
Very pleased with this lens. Much wider frame of view and with minimal distortion. It's small and light enough to fit on my NX2000 and carry around in my pocket, though I have a little pouch on my hip for it. This will replace my previous go-to lens, which was the 20-50mm kit lens. I'm an amateur photographer and I'm preparing for a road trip across the US. Might come back and share the photos. But so far, the test photos have looked great, and I'm especially pleased with the night time shots. I'm a manual focus kind of guy, so the the large grip space is spacious for my fingers. I'll leave it on Shutter Priority 1/80, since I have a bit of a shaky hand and there's no OIS. So with the iFunction right there by the grip, it's easy to adjust for lighting conditions and capture crisp shots.

Want it all in one shot, this is the lens for you!!
Great wide angle, does exactly what it should and does it well!! I can't say its going to be my walk around, it won't. However its great for the wide angles I want when shooting bridges, wanting to fit the whole thing in one shot. I also shoot city scenes, intersections etc. and this is absolutely the perfect lens! If I want close ups, this is not the lens I am going to use, its not intended for it! I can edit with cropping of course, but why not just use the right lens using some time and patience and raise my quality of shot up there with it? Take your time, take your shot, with the right lens! And you will get the performance your looking for! As a walk around lens, only if your looking for the larger (wide angle) views as your over all thing its not mine. I usually like to zoom and use the other lenses for that. This again, for me is only for wide angle shooting to fit lager frames in one shot, and man does it perform!!! Can't go wrong!

Handles low light great!
Handles low lights well, takes clear, vivid images. Not as wide as I wanted and had to buy the 12-24 to get the ultra wide angle but still a great performing lens. It's lightweight and smaller size make it a nice overall lens. One of my favorite lenses and I would recommend unless you need really wide angle. The 10mm will fisheye, the 12-24mm is ultra wide, this 16mm is wide angle, not ultra wide as Samsung claims.
