SALOMONMen's Sense Pro Max Trail Running Shoes

I bought these shoes for a very specific kind of trail/Road running race. I was looking for Hybrid shoes, comfy on the Road (30K) and with some grip on the forest path. (30K). The first training is done in similar condition and the result is great. It's larger shoes (Structure/External sole, not feet size), than usual Salomon shoes, but safer on the muddy and slippy ground and much much comfortable on the road than the Sense Ultra...

Upper is super comfortable. Feel light on the foot while still being super supportive. I like way better than the sense ride.

I have about 41 miles on 5 trail runs with these. I purchased them because I wanted great grip that Salomons are noted for, and I was under the impression that the toebox area was wider than the Speedcross series.Length-wise I ordered a 13 US and it seems true to size, width-wise they were a bit narrower than I expected, and I began to get hot spots on my left forefoot at about mile 5 on the very first run. I tried them for a couple more shorter runs and continued to get hot spots. I tried them again for a longer run with a lot of elevation change, and I started to feel some pain in my left foot. Frustrated, I ended up removing the insoles right on the trail, and stowing them in my running vest. After that the little bit extra room was good, and the last run in them of 11.5 miles with lots of up and down went well.My next step will be to remove the laces and put regular running shoe laces in so I can heel lock them a bit better for less toe banging downhill. The lace loops have some plastic insert in them though, not sure yet how I'll get around that.Overall I am happy despite having to make my own modifications to them. These shoes are cushy enough and protective enough that I don't notice the missing insoles, even with thin Darn Tough socks.I will get more runs in them to confirm, but right now I'll give them 4 stars.
