You can use clear oil, clear corn syrup or glycerin which are "thicker" allowing your glitter or snow to float slowly down to the bottom. I prefer glycerin and bought mine online. **Q: What kind of plastic is it?** A: The plastic is slightly flexible in the middle area. If I squeeze it with my thumb and finger it will indent without creasing and go back to shape when released. Pushing from the top does not indent. I don't think it would break if dropped, even on a tile floor from 5 to 8 feet. **Q: How much glycerin do you need to fill globe. Per each one globe?** A: If 1 tbs of glycerin is added, is the rest water or distilled water? **Q: Could you put battery operated fairy lights in this or would it be a fire hazzard?** A: You could use fairy lights but it may depend on the size of the battery pack.
