PILOT Precise Varsity Pre-Filled Fountain Pens, 1.0mm, Multicolor, 7-Pack

I absolutely love these. I purposely got me the point because I wanted them to write dark. And they do. As you can see in the picture below they do bleed through the paper. That is not good. They take some getting used to because I'm not used to riding with this kind of pen. So my writing isn't as good as it is with other pens. But it's getting better. They write very bold and I used them for my appointment book and other things and all of the colors are dark enough to be able to see what you're right and they dry immediately. I do love these and I will eventually buy them again once these get low. I do love them and so will you. I have included one page of my appointment book in all of these were written with these pens and look how dark the print is and they write smoothly. Every color including pink are really bold I love them so much that I just ordered another package. I have gotten used to how they write and my handwriting is coming out better. I use them a lot in my appointment books and trust me you will love them. I've tried out many pens and these are the best and my favorite.

Great fountain pens for the price. They work great. They have consistant ink flow, and the color ls are very vibrant. The only downside is they don't last that long. I might just write a lot because my pilot rollerballs also run out of ink fast, but these only last me at most 2 months of consistent use.

Every time I sit to do homeschool planning or write thank you notes during nap time, I grab these. I got this set after a late-night scroll because I wanted something nicer than regular ballpoints but nothing fussy. The ink goes on smooth and dark, and my favorite part is it doesn’t bleed through my cheap planner pages. I can write on both sides, which makes me weirdly happy. The colors are cute, and the kids love picking one when they make cards for grandparents. Since they’re disposable, I don’t stress about losing one under the couch. I already added another pack to my cart.

I've been using the pens for a little over a week and they work quite well. They provide for a very different writing experience that using a standard ballpoint or gel pen. I would recommend them. A bit of background, I don't like ballpoints because you have to press on the paper pretty hard to get a decent line. I've been using the Pilot G2 gel pens simply because the ink flow is much better and they require less pressure to lay down a good line on the paper. However, the G2s will sometimes start skipping and behaving inconsistently. With some of my college classes banning laptops I have to use pens and paper if I want to take notes. So, I wanted to try a fountain pen to see what the hype was about. I read that these were decent starter pens so I ordered a set. These are a very good introduction to fountain pens and do a pretty good job showcasing the advantages that fountain pens have over the garden variety pens that we use almost every day. The angle you write with these pens does matter. That threw me off for a bit before I realized how I needed to hold the pen. But, once you get the hang of it, you will quickly appreciate the value of these pens. During a campus wide event I was writing for about four hours solid. Without these pens I would not have made it. Simply because these pens require very little pressure to use, and are quite light without the cap posted, my hand did not cramp up like it would with my gel pens. I also like the way the pen lays down the link; the line thickness will vary a bit on the angle and you can get far more expressive writing with a fountain pen. Despite how good these pens are, they are not without their weaknesses. Sometimes these will skip on me in the middle of a letter, causing me to go back and redraw a line or two, which is quite annoying. The ink is also not waterproof, which me hesitant to use it in certain circumstances. Another problem is that the nib is too wide for my tastes. This is a little more of a personal preference, but the pens do use quite a bit more ink than they really need to. The takeaway point for me is that I have discovered that I really like fountain pens. I will probably use this set until they run out of ink and then buy one of the more inexpensive Lamy pens. These are quite good and they offer a different, and to me preferable, experience. However, they do have their downsides and they make me eager to use a higher quality fountain pen. That said, for disposable pens these are hard to beat.

These pens are so great!!! I am very picky and I love juicy gel pens. These hit the mark. The glitter is delightful and the ink is smooth and they even look pretty. I use them to take notes for work and I hate boring pens. I wrote a lot (lawyer here) and it’s great to have lots of inexpensive but high quality gel pens. I will definitely buy more from this brand. I have purchased other glitter pens and they were just so so.

I've been using fountain pens off and on for about 35 years. I've had a range of them from cheap, barely usuable ones to $250 pens with gold nibs. These definitely aren't the latter, but being inexpensive, they write very well from the start. I finally don't have to worry about someone borrowing my pens and either walking away with them or damaging the nib, but I still get to use my favorite type of writing utensil.

A good assortment of colors. Easy to use. If you want to see how you like using a fountain pen, this is an inexpensive way to find out. I especially like using them for my signature, which somehow feels more personal than one written with a ballpoint. Recommended.

I bought this set of pens for my daughter for Christmas 2010 because she loves fountain pens. She loves this set, but gave me the blue pen because she's not a fan of blue ink (but she knows I am). I've been using fountain pens for over 50 years and I've used many different kinds. I have numerous pens and inks -- however, guess which one gets used a lot? Right -- the Pilot Varsity. Why? Well, some of my reasons are it writes well, I like the ink color (though it's not my favorite), and I don't mind losing a pen that costs a couple of bucks. Plus it has a lot of ink so it will write for a long time. The Varsity writes a line that's 0.45 mm wide on some cheap copy paper I have and 0.5 mm on some HP Premium Laserjet paper I have (a popular paper with fountain pen users). There's virtually no feathering (and I did the measuring with a 20X microscope, so I would have spotted feathering had it been there). The ink dries in a reasonable amount of time (between 2 and 3 seconds on the cheap copy paper); however, if you're a lefty and you want to use a fountain pen, you may want to get an ink that's known to dry quickly. I have some Swisher's North Sea Blue ink that dries nearly instantaneously, so inks like that would be a good choice for a lefty (alas, Swisher's went out of business, but that ink was made by Noodler's and other Noodler's inks could serve -- check the Fountain Pen Network for their ink reviews). Oh, another tidbit: I had some Pilot Varsity fountain pens that I purchased perhaps 20 to 25 years ago. They sat for 10 or 15 years unused in my desk and around 5 years I started using them again (in truth, I can't be absolutely sure they were Pilot Varsity pens, as they looked different than what's made now). But my point is that these and other disposable fountain pens will likely give long service, even if you don't write with them right away. When this pen dries up, I plan to see if I can take it apart so I can refill it. My approach will be to use a lathe and a cutoff tool to cut the cap off the barrel. If this lets me refill it, I'll put a favorite blue ink in it (probably Herbin's Eclat de Saphir or Private Reserve's DC Supershow Blue), glue on a new cap, and start using it again. I bet it will work!

Excellent disposable fountain pen. Writes very smoothly with consistent ink flow and starts instantly every time. Lightweight, comfortable to hold, and surprisingly reliable for the price. Great for everyday writing.

These write amazingly smooth for the price. The pens hold a decent amount of ink as well. Technically, they are disposable but you can refill them with a little bit of effort either by removing the nib and the housing or using a pvc tubing. The caps fit really well and they won't easily dry out as long as you close the caps.
