New medium offshore releases didn't hold line tight enough. These do. Great for salt water.

Very nice downrigger release for ocean salmon fishing
These are very tough downrigger line clips that hold your line with a lot of gripping power. Best used with large flashers while fishing fairly deep for strong fish. With the strong gripping power you never have your line and flasher release accidently when trolling deep, or at higher speeds.The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because of the length of the cable: 16 inches is too short in my opinion. I will re-rig the clip with 3-4 feet of heavy monofilament for my downriggers. Otherwise, an excellent product.

Downrigger quick release.
I have used this type of downrigger release clip for many years. They do not damage the line and easy to adjust release tension. I use them on both downrigger weights and planers. I have tried several other styles and these work the best. One tip on using these. Leave them in the open position when not in use to keep the rubber from sticking together, if not you will end up using glue to put the rubber back in place. It does not damage these in any way. I have forgot, and have had to make this simple repair many times. I use these mainly in saltwater, but I have used them in fresh water fishing as well. I know you will like them. Very easy and quick to use.
