Satin IceSilver Shimmer Fondant, Vanilla, 2 Pounds

This stuff is so cool! My little one really wanted unicorn cupcakes for her party and the only stuff I could find in the store was made of plastic, or included suspicious ingredients that I wouldn't feed the kids. A baker friend recommended I try this fondant and it worked brilliantly. It's totally safe and yummy and was pretty easy to work with with virtually no mess. The kids and even my husband got in on the action. We used the gold fondant for the horns, and silver for the hair. The instructions also said we could mix with other colors, so we mixed the silver with pink, yellow, orange, blue and green to make multicolored sparkling hair. We put some extra sparkles from edible glitter dust on the horns for extra pop. Everyone went wild over the cupcakes and we had a fun bonding experience too. I'll definitely use it again!

I have been creating cakes for well over 15 years and have always made my own fondant. Never have I ever bought fondant in a store, much less ordered online. This particular cake required a gold shimmery look, so when I saw this, I thought I would try it. BIGGEST REGRET OF MY LIFE when it comes to cakes!! Total waste. No matter how much I kneaded it, it never quite became pliable enough. I even placed it in the microwave for 20 seconds to help soften it up. It still never got that right consistency. I made three attempts to roll it out to cover an 8" round cake, but each time I went to place it on the cake, the fondant completely fell apart. I finally had to give up and figure out a Plan B. Ended up making my own fondant and using a gold shimmer powder and the cake turned out perfect. Should have stuck to what I know works and saved myself the headache and $22.00!! A very expensive mistake when it comes to creating cakes! Never again! If I could give it zero stars, I would.

The media could not be loaded.  Very unsatisfied as I was handling the fondant I keep coming across a hard spot that would not flatten when rolled would not even mix in when kneading the fondant. This product is very unsettling no matter how much shortening I added it just did not want to stay together and drys out pretty fast needless to say I will never buy this again... wish I would have purchased Wilton as I always do and never have a prob never had to add shortening either which again DID NOT WORK

Made decorated cookies for my co-workers birthday - thought I'd snazz them up with some gold fondant. This stuff is so much fun! I forgot to get a pic before they were all gobbled up (everyone said the gold stuff tasted yummy). I had no problem rolling it out and cutting shapes to put on top. I am surprised by the negative reviews- I had no problems at all working with it. (I often work with polymer clay making figures so used to this kind of pliable stuff.) I plan to make another batch of cookies in the near future for a friend's bridal shower so stay tuned for pics!

When I opened it it seemed dried out. So I read the directions and attempted the Unicorn horn. It was cracking and was just yellow. No shimmer of gold in there. I went on some YouTube videos to see if there were any tricks and nothing helped. Disaster is all I can say. I was embarrassed to take them to my granddaughters birthday party.

I mixed it with another color, per Satin Ice's color suggestions, worked really fast, no cornstarch or powdered sugar, just shortening as you suggested -- been working with fondant for many years, never had luck with Satin Ice, wanted the shimmery effect, now that my elephant skin fondant is on my cake, I don't see any shimmery. Not impressed with this product. Other than doing the cake over again, any suggestions?

It is easy to use however add a little shortening to your hands when you’re working with it because it dries easily. The picture above was painted over with gold but only because I need it super shiny this is more of a mad at goal weight with Specs. It’s soft it’s easy to use but it does crack easily I mix mine with some plain white fondant to give it a little more stability. But I was really impressed that it was really gold in color and not yellow

I bought this fondant to make shark fins for shark week cupcakes. It arrived super fast. I opened the tub and was a little concerned: the fondant was just wrapped in a blue plastic bag it wasn't sealed or anything. I'm not sure if this is normal or not since I've never bought this brand before. I'm giving it 4 stars because it was shiny and pretty and easy to roll out and decorate with. I took one star away because packaging freaked me out. I debated throwing it out because I feel like it could have been easily tampered with.
