Lithops is a genus of succulent plants in the fire plant family, Aizoaceae. Members of the genus are native to southern Africa. The name is derived from the Ancient Greek words λίθος (lithos), meaning "stone," and ὄψ (ops), meaning "face," referring to the stone-like appearance of the plants. They avoid being eaten by blending in with surrounding rocks and are often known as pebble plants or living stones. The formation of the name from the Greek "-ops" means that even a single plant is called a Lithops. In the fall, a bud will force its way up through the fissure and shortly thereafter a white or yellow flower will unfold. The flowers of many of the Lithops species have a spicy-sweet scent. If a plant does not flower the first year, perhaps it is not quite old enough. Lithops usually must be three to five years old before they begin flowering: they have been grown as seedlings for two years or more in the nursery. As the fissure separates further, a new pair of leaves can be seen developing inside. As the plant becomes older, it increases in size by division. This will begin by one plant producing two pairs of new leaves. The plant will then have two "bodies" attached to one root system. Some plants in Lithops collections have as many as ten or more bodies per plant, but it takes many years to develop a plant of this size. Very little watering is needed. You can tell when it needs moisture by looking at the leaves. If they are full and plump, the plant is fine; any wrinkling means it needs a sip. Use a very small watering can and water more heavily in spring and summer. Soak the soil and let dry between waterings. Discard any water collected in the pot's saucer. Do not water at all in the fall and winter, even if you see withered leaves, as this is part of the life cycle of the plant. *BE PATIENT, AND WATCH YOUR ROCK BLOOM!**

Look great
these arived a day earlier than the expected earliest date of shipping. They were all in there pots, and look healthy. I recieved about 5 different kinds of Lithops. One of the plants I received recently flowered (before it arived). Two of the others are growing new leaves and shedding the old ones. I am pleased with these plants and know where i'm getting them in the future.

Photo does not match- You only get 8! small black cups with 3 tiny plants in them. I felt ripped off. You DO NOT get 24
This is a rip off. The photo shows 24 cups of lithops. I bought this. When I got the lithops, there were 8 cups with 3 tiny lithops in each cup. They were all the same kind of lithops. There were not 24 cups of lithops, only 8 cups. You have to know what you are getting, 8 small cups, with 3 tiny lithops in each cup. They were also all the same kind of plant, so that is what you are getting.

Poorly packed and fungus killed
I bought these for little succulent terrariums I was going to make for Christmas. When I first got the package, they hardly had dirt. I went and got Miracle Grow cactus and succulent mix in a sealed bag and replanted them immediately. They started to grow larger then today I noticed one of the plants was wilted looking. On further inspection it was covered in white fuzz which I looked up was fungus. I have been to every plant place in town, trying to find replacements with no luck. I just pray it doesn't spread to the rest of the plants I bought from this place. I had them sitting in the window. I watered them according to instructions I found online.

eh
Price is comparable to Home Depot and their lithops selection. Photo is misleading. Not much variety. Pretty small specimens. This item gets 3 stars only because the seller was telling the truth. You can't help but feel slighted though with that picture and the title "24 Mixed Lithops". You do get 24, but it's 3 to a cup, and most are alike. I believe I received 4 different species. By the way, Home Depot (surprisingly) has a better selection (than what I received) and approximately 3 to 4 lithops per cup at $2.50 a pop. Seller shipped quickly so I'll give 'em that. Not a bad experience, but eh.

different
these are pretty cool. but flowers never bloomed from them like they are suppose to. instead they just kept shedding their skins and a new one would grow out of the middle of it. i would buy these again

love lithops
What you get is smaller than what the picture seems to show but nonetheless these lithops are fantastic. I planted them and they have already grown considerably. Very healthy. I highly recommend.

Did not look like the photo shown. Plants were very small! Big Disappointment ;( Lithops purchased at Home Depot much larger at the same price per plant.
