If you are starting to study Kendo, this book will really help!
I have been training Kendo for about 15 months. There are so many things in this book I wish I had known about earlier in my training. I'm going to recommend it to students in our dojo's beginner class. The book has links to many of Imafuji Sensei's videos, giving it a very rich range of content. I shared the section on how to hold a Shinai with one of my Sempai, who also teaches the beginning class. He said that the "number 1" hand gesture, was a very useful method of showing new students how to have the correct grip.I hope many people purchase this book. There isn't anything out there that I've seen that has information really geared for beginners.

The Real Deal.
This book's purpose is to teach and reinforce the basics of Kendo. Japanese Sword fighting is so much more complicated and ritualistic that what the Media At Large lets on. This book was made for the people who do not have a Dojo that teaches correct techniques and those who do not have a dojo near them. I joined the website to learn about Kendo and to learn to practice Kendo and have waited for even a small amount of the information Masahiro Imafuji shared to be in written form; and now it is. This book is worth more than the listed price. If you want to learn what real Kendo is, buy this book, read it, and practice what you have learned.

Great book for beginners!
Our 11 year old loves it! We even purchased him an bokuto sword to practice with. He loves the clear instructions.

Great book for beginners and teachers
Hiro is someone I recently discovered and immediately have a lot of respect for. He makes great videos and has a website dedicated to art and spirit of Kendo as well as it's budo aspects; not just the sport aspects. This book is great for people like me who don't have access to a kendo dojo but still want to learn.

Very helpful
Excellent resource for this VERY late beginner. The product is made even more useful by the authors website. The URL has changed somewhat but it gets you on to the site and navigation from there is easy.

Excellent and informative
Very good guide for beginners. Clearly written, well illustrated with drawings and photographs. I expected no less after watching sensei Imafuji's videos. His students are fortunate.

All the same boring kendo. Better watch his videos on
It's Ok for absolute beginners. But if you start to participate in kendo, you will know that very shortly anyway. There is nothing about katas. All the same boring kendo. Better watch his videos on YouTube
