A few good lessons
Most of this book is common sense, unless youโve never shopped in person in your life. Some suggestions are debatable; not much in here is a secret. Some are just silly; e.g. ask the people in the fitting room where there is a nearby window to see things in natural light? In a dept store?

5 Stars for the Visit to โ Wait, What?โ World that is How to Win at Shopping
I really enjoyed this book simply because it tickled my funny bone. Did I glean any useful new tips from reading this? I donโt think so, but I also donโt need to be told not to buy underwear that is too small. Another โtipโ is: If you hate thong underwear, donโt wear wear them. Ummm, thanks for that? Some strange things that made me question โwho are these people โ?????!!!??? are these tips:* ALWAYS snap photos of yourself wearing favorite items from your closet before a shopping trip.*ALWAYS start a folder of styles you like for reference on your shopping trip.* ALAYS bring a bottle of water. *ALWAYS look your best *ALWAYS wear comfortable shoes * ALWAYS stop and read the store directory * NEVER shop an outfit exactly as a celebrity wore it.Iโm not mad that I spent money on this little treasure, but Iโm also not about devoting so much energy into my wardrobe. Iโll just keep cruising along in my well fitting underpants , still losing at shopping.

Excellent Common Sense Book For The Thrifty Shopper!
I must chuckle at the bad reviews on this book because I have a feeling almost none of them have actually read the whole book cover to cover. This little gem is fantastic and full of practical advice for the woman who doesn't want to waste her time and money going about shopping in a way that is awkward, inconvenient, or pointless. This book is FULL of advice gems on what to wear shopping, how to shop, when to shop, and how to get the most for your money and the biggest bang for your buck in terms of wardrobe pieces. David Zyla has years and years of experience as a stylist and the main guy in charge of building up wardrobes for thousands of people and hes good at it. Having read Color My Style I had to get this when he came out with it and it was enormously helpful. Many reviewers are saying its full of common sense advice. That's absolutely the truth. But what they fail to point out is that most of this 'common sense' advice is stuff you would not think of until you have someone literally standing there pointing this stuff out like you do reading this book. It's full of 'ah hah' moments that make you go... yea I should have realized that but didn't.Don't be afraid to read anything Zyla writes. He does a fabulous job. I really can't wait for a book from him on styling a home!

This is a book about shopping
This is a shopping book, not a style book. There are many great tips on how to shop. There are tips on how to get great deals and how to avoid our merchandise. If you live to shop then you will pick up some great tips. If you hate to shop then this book may change your mind. I recommend this book.

Could have saved my money because most of these tips are common sense and one was very bad. One recommendation suggested wearing fragrance on planned shopping trips. Wrong! Please do not wear fragrance when trying on clothes because no one else wants to smell it, either on the garments you don't choose or in neighboring dressing rooms. There are good tips, though, like which day prices are lowest and how to use personal shoppers and what tailors can and cannot do to give perfect fit. A good resource if you're a novice shopper.

Good for the serious shopping beginner
Someone who is less an experienced shopper than I might give this extra stars. There are enough valuable hints so that she could save the price of the book. I will keep as a reference. Material is organized well and would be easily referenced.

Great book! Armed with this information and my personal colors from a consultation with David Zyla, I had the best shopping trip I've ever experienced. I know my style, my colors, and have the confidence to quickly scan a store's racks to find my personal best outfits. The least amount of stress I have ever had when shopping.

Slim pickings
Literally about shopping--i.e. what you do while you're in the store. Not about shopping in the larger sense of a building a wardrobe, etc. And it's just a little collection of "tips", not an actual discussion of the topic. I think there were a couple useful tips in there, but that's all.

Not worth it
This was in the format of lists and had an american slant to the 'advice' given. I felt that much of the advice were common sense. A bit of a waste of time in my opinion.
