6-Level Wood Rack

This has been a fantastic addition to my garage workshop. I originally bought one unit for lumber storage and ended up ordering a second shortly afterward once the first filled up with board overflow. The rack feels well constructed and sturdy once mounted, and I haven’t had any issues with sagging or stability. It does a great job getting lumber up off the floor and organized in a way that’s actually easy to access. Installation itself was straightforward, though I do wish the package included some kind of mounting template for laying out the holes. Not a huge issue, but it would have sped things up a bit and made alignment easier. In my case, my storage area isn’t traditionally framed, so installation required drilling into masonry and using Tapcons. That’s obviously not the product’s fault — I just personally dislike drilling concrete whenever I can avoid it. So I’d mainly encourage buyers to think ahead about what kind of wall they’re mounting into and what hardware/tools will actually be required for their specific setup. Once installed though, this thing has been great. If you’re building up a wood stash in a garage or home shop and need a better organization solution, this is an easy recommendation.

This rack is a fantastic product that has helped me to keep my workspace organized and clutter-free. I purchased this rack for my garage, where I store a lot of lumber and other building materials. I didn't use this for storing lumber, although it would be great for that. I attached it to my concrete block wall in my studio, made shelves to fit on the upper posts, but on the bottom posts I custom made a shelf with sides that hung down, drilled large holes on the sides and used a threaded iron pipe to thread through a VERY large roll of 48" long cotton batting with a fitting screwed to one end so it wouldn't pull out. They I can just roll off what I need and cut. Perfect. On the shelves I have some rolls of fabric and metal open baskets for wool roving. So it can be very versatile depending upon your imagination. And because it was designed to hold wood, it is perfect for this very heavy cotton batting for any textile artists out there. I could have used another in my attached wood shop, but I already had several gorilla shelving units to hold all my barn wood and another for construction woods.

I bought two sets of these in mid March 2021. They solve the problem they were designed to solve. In my case, they create temporary storage for long dimensional lumber materials, and for woodcrafting I enjoy between DIY renovation projects. You can see from the photos that it holds 12' 2x6" and various other items including one of my ladders, a roof rack, longer tools (my 6" level, drywall T-square) etc. Without weight calculations, I estimate this assembly can hold 6 16' 2x6" boards per each horizontal level. Each horizontal level defined in this assembly by four leveled orange horizontal metal bars (two kits). Actual measurements of the components inside the package are provided in the photos for your reference. I find these measurements useful when planning the installation and making my Sketchup. The plastic spacer disks that your mounting screws (not included) will pass through create a 1/2" space between the gray vertical support and the wall (photo included). The plastic spacers and slide-on horizontal (orange) components seemed weak coming out of the packaging, but they get the job done fine. I was able to hang from each of these orange supports (I am 6'2" and 200 lbs) without any hint they might fail. Translated, that means I deliberately exceeded the stated weight limit of each horizontal member in this case by about 90 lbs. No problems. I mounted the ones you see in the picture 35 1/4"" from the left perpendicular wall, 33 1/4" from the ceiling, and 32" on center between each vertical support. I used Spax 4581820700765 1/4 x 3" T-Star Drive Washer Head HCR (Exterior) Powerlag Screws (not included). Essentially, I mounted each assembly to a vertical wall stud, skipped a stud, then mounted the second assembly and so on - making sure each one was level and plumb. You can see the Sketchup I did to show how they are attached to the walls (ignore the shelving units I have not built yet above them). These walls are 11' tall. While I am generally happy with what these do and how they are doing the job, I have a negative: One orange horizontal member in each kit seems to be defective. Since I had one defective orange component in each box, I thought maybe I had missed something in the instructions and the defects were intentional. But each of the defects in each are slightly different. In both cases, the lip portion of the underside of the member are shorter than the rest (see photos). In one defective component, the top of the square through-cut is also cut more distal to the vertical (gray) member than the others. The net effect of these two defects (one per kit) is that one of the top-most orange horizontal components angles up at an unnatural angle (see photo second vertical assembly from the left). in the second defect, the top-most orange horizontal component slides down over the support screw (see photo third vertical assembly from the left). I chose in this case to mount the two defective orange horizontal components at the very top of the assemblies with the hope that I can find a way to contact the manufacturer and get replacements. Since these orange horizontal members simply slide over the top of the gray vertical support bar and rest on the support screws, I should be able to replace these two defective members without having to disassemble anything more. Contacting the manufacturer with the specifics of my case doesn't seem to be an easy thing to do. I don't see a need to return the entire units since they are both mounted and functional. Just getting replacement parts is an adventure I'm still working through. Depending on how the manufacturer responds, I'd likely buy these again if I need more space for wood. The concept is sound. The execution is a little sloppy. 4/6/21 Update: After talking with Amazon customer service, they have agreed to send me a single replacement package. I will take two parts from the new package (presumably not defective) and return the rest. This solution seems a little expensive for them and slightly inconvenient, but it probably works better from their perspective than breaking open a box and sending me replacement parts I need. In the end, Amazon is honoring their end of the deal to get me two fully functional units, so I'm going to add a star (from 3 to 4), and simply accept the gift that life isn't always fair, perfect or clean. The best we can do is trust that, despite imperfections, we will each do our best in the end. Well done.

It’s a nice rack to rest your wood on. It will take every inch if you mount it properly. A few screws and you’ll be ready for years of satisfying woodworking to come.

It holds a lot of wood and helps you keep your work area clean. It was also very easy to install and seems extremely strong.

These were just delivered tonight, and the instructions provide some information that I could not find reading through the instructions or comments. Maybe someone will find these useful, and maybe I'll remember to come back and edit this with an actual review once I've had some time with it - Mounting hardware is not provided, as mentioned. For mounting on concrete they spec that you need 1/4 inch anchor bolts, with a minimum length of 3 inches. Three per post, or 6 per box of shelved you purchase. - The instructions mention mounting outdoors, it doesn't apply to my use case, but since it seems to be a common question the short answer is yes you can, but you need to build some cover to protect it from the worse of the elements. - otherwise the finish seems to be well done, no obvious blemishes. Second impressions: Installed these and I have some updates. - there are two hole sizes, 3 for the mounting bolts and 6 for the stops for the shelves. The mounting bolts are 1/4 inch. The instructions recommended 1/4 inch bolts, but with my lack of skills drilling holes in concrete to precise measurements I found that reaming them to be larger gave me the play needed to get them mounted. - The posts were all slightly different lengths. This can result in missaligned shelves, but fortunately the bottom screw hole and mounting holes were aligned so just making sure that I measured everything from the bottom (and kept them oriented correctly) things worked out.

I have a full wall of lumber storage using at least six pairs of these. They are great. They don't bow, they're easy to assemble, the wood that's been stacked there hasn't warped a millimeter and some of it's been on the rack for five years. I'm adding similar lumber storage to a different wall in my shop and ordered three new pairs of these for it. I have never in my life received products so damaged and clearly used. In one of the three boxes the bags that contain the screws were ripped open so the screws were loose (and missing a few). The box had external rips to it that someone had just taped over. Many, MANY of the plastic inserts in the ends of the shelf pieces were smashed, but were smashed in such a way that transit damage wasn't likely to be the culprit. I don't think Bora did this. When I peeled off the shipping label to put on my label to send it back to Amazon there was someone else's shipping label underneath, so one of the boxes had clearly been a returned item. However, the other two were also damaged and they didn't have any previous labels—I don't know. It feels like Amazon is poorly re-packaging open-box and returned items and shipping them out as new. Take your business someplace else.

Ob jetzt Triton (Australien), Kastforce (China) oder in diesem Fall Bora (USA), das Regal schaut immer exakt gleich aus und ist (jedenfalls in diesem Fall, laut Anleitung) made in China. Die Qualität ist aber richtig gut und preislich unschlagbar. Ein klitzekleiner Lackfehler an einem Tragarm, sonst super verarbeitet und lackiert. Es sind immer jeweils zwei Formrohre in Plastik eingeschweißt, und alles formschlüssig in einen Karton verpackt, deshalb gibt es auch keine Lackschäden durch den Transport. Es war sogar nochmals in einen Versandkarton verpackt. Einziges Manko: Wenn man sie denn braucht, die Montageanleitung gibt es nur auf Englisch, Französisch und Spanisch. Das Einzige auf das man aufpassen muss: Die quadratische Ausnehmung in jedem Tragarm hat auf einer Seite zusätzlich eine kleine halbrunde Ausnehmung die im montierten Zustand in den Schraubenkopf eingreift - die muss nach unten zeigen. Ansonsten ist der Aufbau selbsterklärend. Beim Triton Tragarmregal wurden in den Rezensionen immer die Schrauben kritisiert, welche hier auch nur verzinkte Blechschrauben sind. Mehr braucht es aber auch nicht. Die sind nur dazu da, dass die Tragarme ohne Belastung nicht runterfallen. Mit Belastung verkeilen sie sich mit dem horizontalen Formrohr und dies nimmt die Last auf. (50kg pro Fach!) Befestigungsmaterial für die Wand gibt es auch hier nicht, nur die Empfehlung Ankerschrauben mit ø6mm und einer Mindestlänge von 76mm zu nehmen (ich weiß nicht ob in den USA keine Dübel verwendet werden?) Bei einer Maximalbelastung von 300kg (6x 50kg) würde ich aber auch auf gute Befestigung in der Wand achten!
