The best headset I've had ever.
This headset is just the job for long gaming sessions on my Xbox one s. Over the years I had several headsets (usually turtle beach ones like the xp510 and x43), the Astro A50 Gen 4 is the best fitting and the comfiest one I've had up to now, The sound is very good once you have maxed out the two highest frequency adjustments in the the software that you have to download to your PC, this Astro Command centre is what you use to adjust the frequency bands to shape the way you want the headset to sound. The two highest ones need setting the highest in my opinion as the treble is muffled otherwise, then adjust the bass to your liking, once done you save the setting and update them to the headset then your done. You can save three and adjust them for different sound for other games styles eg one for more bass or more treble or how you want it. The Astro A50 Gen 4 is now suitable for the new Xbox series X through the use of just the USB connection as they have done away with the optical connection. The build quality is really good and I bought these as other headsets have snapped at the place the speakers connect to the headband on my last three headsets (my razer nari ultimate (xbox) snapped at the earcups). The Astro A50 has strong tubes on which the earcups turn so no worries about these breaking there, Overall I'm extremely happy with them and they would no doubt last for a long time, I was fed up of buying headsets for them to snap near the earcups over the last four headset I had for my Xbox. The battery lasts for a very long time when in use and depletes slowly and can game for extended gaming session, when finished place them down on the charger by the earcups and they magnetically fit down on the charging base. I take real care of my stuff so If you value build quality and excellent sound get these Astros. I have had these for a month now and have really got used to them. Love them to bits. Just to add some detail to my review I noticed that someone reviewed these Astro A50 as a one star saying they broke after a few days, this is highly unlikely as the headset pad at the top is removable and in the picture shows one side of the tab at the top of the headset comfort pad half way out, THIS comfort pad IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THIS as they are clipped in by slightly parting the headset band while putting this in and squeezing back the bands together, they are removable for putting in the top part of the mod kit or removing for cleaning. That reviewer seems to seem to have jumped to the wrong idea and thinks they are broken.... the head pad at the top is removable by having a tab on both sides of it and is easily put back by pulling apart gently the head band and the clips fit front and back of the headband, this is easy to do. It's a shame they think they are broken (highly unlikely as they are really well made, this is the best headset I've ever had and other brands I've had did not have the build quality unlike these Astro A50's.. Gaming pro's use these for tournaments.....THEY ARE THAT GOOD!!!). I remove my head band pad for cleaning regularly, It's seems in my opinion they did not understand how it fitted together and thinks they are broken... they misunderstand how easy it it to fit it back in.. I can assure that it's supposed to be this way and NOT broken.. this puts the Astro A50's in a negative light..in my opinion unfair. I have had mine for about four years and although has signs of wear it's still works perfectly well!!. I have no regrets getting these as once you get the EQ right for your own preference you will most likely love them, I do!!

Premium Sound and Comfort for Serious Gamers.
The ASTRO A50 Wireless Gaming Headset is one of the best headsets Iโve used for long gaming sessions. From the unboxing experience to actual performance, it feels like a premium product. The sound quality is outstanding โ crisp highs, deep lows, and clear directional audio, which really enhances immersion whether youโre playing competitive shooters or cinematic story-driven games. The Game/Voice balance control is an excellent feature. It makes it easy to fine-tune how much of the in-game sound you hear vs. your teammatesโ voices. The included charging base station is sleek and functional โ it charges the headset reliably and displays battery status, which is really handy. Comfort-wise, the headset feels light on the head and the ear cups are soft and breathable. You can easily wear it for hours without fatigue. Wireless performance is also solid with no noticeable latency, and the 15m range is more than enough for normal setups. Pros: โข Excellent sound quality and surround immersion โข Convenient charging dock with clear status indicators โข Great comfort for long sessions โข Reliable wireless connection and range โข Game/Voice audio balance is a game-changer โข Compatible with Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, and Mac Cons: โข Premium price point (but you get what you pay for) โข The software setup for custom EQ and settings could be more user-friendly โข No Bluetooth support โ strictly 2.4GHz wireless Overall, if youโre looking for a top-tier wireless headset for gaming that delivers both performance and comfort, the ASTRO A50 is a fantastic investment. Itโs built for serious gamers who want zero compromises on quality.

Excellent Headset
I have been through absolutely loads of Headsets as I game on PC, Xbox and PlayStation so I have a lot of experience. I returned a Turtle Beach 600 Headset for the Xbox as the connection was unstable (interference I presume). It's a shame as the surround sound (especially) was awesome on those. When you enabled Atmos you could actually hear things above you. I then went to a Hyper X Cloud Flight Wireless headset for the Xbox and this has great bass and sound in general and Wireless signal was excellent...but...I wear glasses and they clamped a bit hard and the Surround Sound just wasn't as good. I mean it worked but not as good. So; I was looking for something more comfortable and so I tried these. They are SUPERB. Very comfortable and do not clamp my head but the surround sound is incredible! Nuketown in COD...i'm upstairs and I can hear an enemy walking up the stairs..not just walking up the stairs but I could tell that they were half way up so I could time my shooting perfectly ("camper!"). Not only this but the bass is great and sound quality is pretty decent as well. Highly recommended for competitive gaming. They are a lot smaller than they appear in the photo's as well and very neat being able to site them on the charger when not in use. I suppose the only thing I would change are perhaps a smaller boom mic.

High-end pricing for a terrible product
For the pricing of the Astro A50, youโd expect a really nice, comfortable headset with a decent mic and great audio. In fairness, the audio is decent and (sometimes*) feels good to wear. Thatโs as far as my praises for this joke of a product go, however. As far as comfort goes, ever since I bought the A50s there has been a consistent issue with the head cushion popping out of its position and refusing to stay put. The detachable nature of the head cushion paired with the rubbery, malleable material used to produce the main headband seems to make it impossible for the cushion to stay in place for many usersโ there is even a market for 3D printed clips to keep it in place on Etsy, which serves as ample evidence for the countless users of these glorified earmuffs experiencing the same issue. The microphone isnโt great. I personally donโt fault the A50s *too* much for this flaw, as headset mics are usually there for convenience rather than the raw quality youโd get from a standalone audio recording device. However, with such a high price point, one may expect higher quality from this particular area than from cheaper mid-range headsets, which frankly is not present. Worst of all, however, are the random and infrequent times the A50s justโฆ stop. What motivated me to write this review, in fact, was both the mic and audio suddenly shutting off in the middle of a round of a shooter. Turning it on and off doesnโt fix it, nor does restarting your computer, and this time even the force reset strategy suggested on the Astro subreddit (where you will find many customers as dissatisfied as I) didnโt fix it. The device is still charged and audibly responds to inputs on the buttons physically attached to it, but it refuses to function otherwise. This happens roughly once every month or so, and is as much of a headache to fix as the last occasion for someone that isnโt entirely tech-savvy such as myself. There are many more complaints to make about this product, such as how annoying setting up the microphone to function normally was, but I urge anyone curious to see the full multitude of the issues these headsets regularly experience to just scroll through r/AstroGaming for 10 minutes. HyperX is more reliable, get a headset from them or just find a nice cheap pair. Theyโll always be better than the A50s.

Best wireless gaming headphones I have ever owned (and I have owned a few).
I have had Steelseries Arctis wireless, wired (pros, which I use on my work computer now), Razer wired and wireless and more...here's the pros and cons and why these are my favourite of the bunch. Note I am a web designer & an avid PC gamer (every day, COD/OW, RDR2, and too many Steam titles to list). Pros: 1. Sound is fantastic even without the optical it's rich and lovely and I like it better than my high end Steelseries Pro's (which I wasn't sure I would find). 360 sound in game...if you're looking to hear every footstep, these do the trick. 2. Comfort is the best in class. I was worried as I can wear my Steelseries all day without any pressure headache. Razers I can only get away with about an hour. These I could fall asleep in and not notice. They are just squishy but still stay on my head. They are lighter than my Steelseries Pros as well. If you have a larger head these are a good choice. 3. Microphone is crystal clear, and everyone says I sound better on this vs my Steelseries or my Razers. One of the things I love about this mic is that it has the ability to play your own voice back to you. This doesn't seem like a huge bonus, but it is for me. Circa 1am when I am playing COD and my kids are sleeping, before these headphones, I would get louder with callouts...which woke up my teenage daughters (and got me put on the naughty step). These allow me to hear how loud I am, and I haven't woken them up once since. Cons: 1. The software doesn't work well all the time, and sometimes doesn't want to start (and no it's not a driver update). 2. The charging base sometimes feels like it needs to be aligned with the sun to be able to work. You can't just plop them in and boom they charge...they need fiddling with to get set in correctly every time. 3. Length of charge could be better. My Steelseries seem to last forever. These on a daily basis I get down to the single digits, and they have died on me twice, and I had to hook them up to a cord. I wish it had a longer battery life. The verdict...these are still the best wireless gaming headphones I have ever owned. The pros far outweigh the cons. I am hoping they tweak the software so that it's less buggy, when it does work, it's great. If you are looking for a great sounding, epic set of gaming headphones, give these a chance, I have been very happy with mine. Note that I got these for ยฃ167 from Amazon Warehouse, which I got an amazing deal on these. The headphones didn't have anything wrong with them, just the outer box was a mess, but the inner one was pristine.

Amazing headset
Astro A50 If you have every used the Astro brand before then chances are you know about the quality your getting when buying into there brand. The build quality of these are excellent, great materials used and they last literally for years. The main reason for purchasing these were the fact you can replace pretty much all of the parts the mic, earcups locked in via magnets, foam headband so if these do fail over time i can just replace them without buy a completely new headset while the earcups have a fully swivel rotation. The comfort of these headsets make long sessions with these on just perfect you would barely have an issue there that good. The headset also flex's quite abit however, with the many parts used and I've used a different model to these previously these flexing like this and I've never had an issue where they break. The clamping force on the ears are just perfect there is enough force to keep them on you head without having the pressure that even if you wear glasses cause headaches or your not able to play for long sessions. The buttons on the back of the right earcup you have the power, surround sound, EQ which can be adjusted and saved to the headset when you are happy with the performance. (this can be down via the software that you can download from Astro) the volume wheel had a great feel the noticeable tactile step so you know your changing the volume. The right earcup plate then has the voice to game chat adjustment so games where you may want to concentrate more on sound than mates in game. The docking station is fairly large though and does take space, although if you have multiple setup like console and PC you could buy a separate station and dock the headset into each dock to sync with the various system your using. especially useful if you use 2 consoles it will work the same or the Xbox and PS5. Sound quality for gaming on console was just great i enjoyed the experience the subversiveness of playing certain games. I feel these are very well balance there not bass heavy there not to high its balanced in the middle for what the Astro do give you is a well rounded audio that have texture and clarity. If your into your FPS games you can hear movement clear the direction its coming from these provide a good amount of detail to the audio. The mic is clear although you know there filtering out and isolate background noise's. Overall these are a great headset, build quality is excellent, audio quality is perfect for me i loved the comfort especially for long gaming sessions. i also like the fact that parts are interchangeable.

As promised
I generally ascribe to the philosophy of buying something good once instead of something cheap multiple times. First off I should mention how comfortable these things are, it feels like they fall into place into the most comfortable position on your head like it was tailor made for your skull. Padding is both comfortable and durable. And the overall weight is quite low. I could wear these for hours without any discomfort. The sound quality is high, and adjustable. An app that pairs with the headset (on pc I don't know about consoles) can be used to quickly switch a bunch of sound frequencies to make them sound louder or quieter so you can customise and save pre-sets for different games if you're that kind of person . This paired with the 3d sound makes video games quiet immersive. The microphone high quality but very sensitive. If you're using a fan its best to use push to talk, although my friends did say that the background noise wasn't annoying. Speaking of annoying some people might find it so but the microphone does have voice feedback so you can monitor how loud you're speaking. Its actually very good feedback in my opinion without any noticeable lag between my speech and after a few minuets I didn't find it distracting and noticed I wasn't raising my voice as much. If I had one complaint it would be that the noise cancelling isn't as strong as I would like but I suppose that's a trade-off for comfort which I value more. If I had two it would be that I feel such an expensive headset is somewhat wasted on me, It really feels like to use this headset to its full potential you need to be the kind of person that likes to fine tune their sound for every experience. I'm not that kind of person so I feel underserving (for lack of a better word) of such a amazing headset. Like I said above the headset has a lot of cool features, but the average consumer probably won't want them all and you might be able to save yourself some money by buying a cheaper headset. If you do buy it though you won't be disappointed with any aspect of this headset.

Amazing experience... when it works. Overall very disappointing.
I bought the Astro A50s back in February 2022. Be warned, if you buy this headset expect to have problems and troubleshoot regularly! Did not meet my expectations for the price. The handful of people I know who also use this headset have the same experience with unreliability. For about six to eight months the Astro A50s were amazing - the best quality headset I've ever used. However, after about 9 months I started to expirence problems. Pros -Sound Quality is excellent over optical audio. -The directional audio is excellent. -Noise cancelling is excellent. -Headset feel is good. Initially I did get pressure headache after about 6 hours of use but after about three weeks of daily use these abated. I recommend the faux-leather earcups as an additional purchase for comfort. -Battery life is good. 15 hour claim is a bit dubious - I think I achieved this once, maybe 10 hours once, and 8 hours reliabily after then. Cons -The mic mutes when folded upwards but sometimes it doesn't unmute when pulling it down to face level. There is no fix for this, you just have to keep trying until it works. This issue developed after 2 months of use. -The headband comfort was initially good but after about 6 months it has deteriorated and can become uncomfortable if placed on the head in certain postitions. -The headset charging not reliable. It should charge while resting in the base station but this stopped reliably connecting. Often feels like I need to check the planets' allignment/my horoscope to see if the headset will charge while sat in the basestation. -Poor Troublshooting docs and Poor Support. -Internal build quality is poor for the price range. -Battery runs out without warning. It should beep at 10% remaining but this stopped working. This issue developed after 10 months of use. Further Comments: More than once I left the headset to charge in the basestation only to realise hours later it wasn't connected. Sometimes you have to hard reset the headset, sometimes the basestation, sometimes reinstall the Astro Command Centre software, and sometimes all three! Although advice on Astro's website suggests windows updates/driver updates, this almost never solved the problem and I had to do my own troubleshooting. Even with a background in IT support this was much more painful than I was expecting to find accurate or reliable information. Of the dozens of times (maybe twice a month) I've had issues only once has a driver update solved it, and a windows update never has! I used a Steelseries Siberia 800 headset before and while that also had issues, it lasted two years. The Astro A50s have lasted 14 months. Thats a 10 month difference for a very similar price range. Very dissapointed with the internal build quality of the Astro A50s: there is a power connector inside the headset which can become loose which means the headset doesn't turn on. Often the fix is to unscrew the right earcup and sqeeze the connector back in place. This has developed after normal use while gaming - why the connector isn't glued together is baffling.
