An Essential Protection for an Expensive PC
If I received a dollar for every Reddit post I have seen about an expensive PC being damaged during a power event without a UPS, I could probably buy two or three more of these. 1. Protection: helps protect my approximately $2,000 PC and monitor from power surges, voltage fluctuations, and unexpected outages 2. Reliability: during 10 months of use, my PC and monitor have never flickered or shut off when the UPS switched to battery power 3. Unstable wiring: my building has poor electrical wiring, and noticeable power fluctuations can occur when the air conditioner, vacuum, or laundry machine is used 4. Storm performance: we have experienced more than 10 power events during thunderstorms, and my computer continued operating without interruption 5. Peace of mind: I treat this UPS as an additional layer of protection for expensive electronics 6. Value: paying roughly 10% of my computerโs value to protect the entire setup was one of the smartest upgrades I made 7. Battery backup: provides enough time to continue through a brief interruption or safely shut down during a longer outage Real use: My building regularly experiences unstable power, particularly when large appliances are running or thunderstorms move through the area. The UPS has kept my PC and monitor running without visible interruption during every event I have experienced. A neighbor was not as fortunate during one storm and later had to replace most of the components in his PC. Cons: I have not experienced any meaningful problems with this UPS. CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD 1500VA Pure Sine Wave-Cures MacPro Wake From Sleep Shutdown
Purchased this CyberPower unit about month ago. Have 2008 MacPro 8 core 3. GHZ fully loaded internally that was running for last couple years along with assorted Monitors-(2), printer etc. Had been using an APC 1500 & APC 1000- splitting various thing around plugged in to either one to share load. A MDD dual processor was in the mix but it was always on the opposite power supply, not both on one APC unit. For the last 3 yrs have been enduring endless stupidity with these APC power supplies. They would shut down randomly & repeatedly EVEN if the MacPro was not the one on that particular power UPS.Although for the most part - the UPS that was on the MacPro would shut down. You could switch a light on in another room- even a 1 bulb 75 watt could essentially trigger one of the 2 APC units to shut down as if they were overloaded. They were not. House is newer & wired correctly with 12 gauge/20 amp romex wire everywhere for any normal 110v outlets & 8 gauge 50 amp for 220v outlets & 200 amp service. The 2 power supplies are on their own line by themselves-nothing else. I am very familiar with house wiring & have rewired several homes I've owned. All wiring in house is up to snuff done properly. I tolerated this nonsense with these APC for years. They made absolutely no sense. I was aware at some point & positively as of recent reading that the 2008 MacPro's had PFC power supplies in them & that they would prefer pure sine wave power- as house current is. Even with that knowledge it still made no senses as to the random-regular weekly shutdown on the APC units with the computer asleep not even trying to wake or even having A TRUE power outage. The batteries checked out ALWAYS and if not hooked up to computer would work fine. If computer was awake & cut power they would hold system for as many minutes long as they were expected to. No problem. Just if asleep- turn light on anywhere in house- units sometimes/randomly cut out. If house current off & wake computers units shut down. Stupid really. Whats the point of the power supply ? (sounds like I am reviewing the APC's not CyberPower-right ?)Finally my MP had 8Gb of ram out of 16GB go bad. Had it replaced and I said that's it. I mean really- the APC power supplies were shutting down on a almost weekly basis & there wasn't even any power failures- the units themselves were THE power failures. Did as much research as possible regarding PFC power supplies & chose the CyberPower PFC 1500 unit. Cost more than the similar NON pure sine wave APC units. But cost quite a bit less than the Pure sine wave APC units. Who knows why APC charges so much for pure sine wave units. But after using their product probably for nearly 15 yrs- I was done. The CyberPower unit is a GREAT unit. Have read various reviews about the power switch(on unit-on/off & menu) etc problem some are having with it-I don't get the problem. It is a bit of a different technique how the button operates- but I picked it up quickly. The current power draw in numbers of watts as well as load capacity being used on the LCD display is great. You have real-time readout if you chose to, as to those numbers. It's like having Kill-A-Watt meter always on. You get to see the basic power fluctuations of your components. The unit is very compact- somewhat smaller than the APC 1500/1000 units. Right now connected with MacPro w/4 Hitachi 7200 rpm 64MB cache 3TB drives internal, ATI/Apple 5870 video card- w/3 24" monitors, epson 3800 printer, external OWC QX2 raid case w-4 hitachi 7200 rpm 32 MB cache 2TB drives & 2008 8 core MacPro booted off of that raid case along with MBP early 2011-17" plugged in but asleep, DSL modem, Dlink 8 port gigabit ethernet hub, 5th Gen AirPort extreme, MDD G/4 plugged in but off, the CyberPower shows a load of about 564 watts. That draw is confirmed accurate(slightly less actually for CyberPower unit itself not being in mix) if all were disconnected from CyberPower unit and plugged in- instead to the Kill-A=Watt meter. Everything asleep around 54 watts draw. I can switch ANY combination of light/appliance/central a/c /55" plasma/electric 220v clothes dryer/3.5HP 220v air compressor/ 5500watt electric heater- 500 gallon spa w/dual pumps etc in any combination on or off with computers asleep, awake, getting awake, going to sleep. UPS functions PERFECTLY & as expected- stellar performance. NO random shutdowns-nothing. Cut power to unit while computers asleep-no problem. You know the conclusion here -right? Pro's * Economical, compact, nice looking * PFC compatible- Pure Sine Wave unit. * Operates flawlessly * Cheaper than APC pure sine wave units * Power consumption/load LCD is very useful if you like that sort of thing-I do * 3yr warranty -same as APC Cons * Cost more than NON PFC compatible/Pure Sine Wave units * CyberPower warranty/service- unknown quality yet. APC was/had excellent service Conclusion. Highly recommended, especially if you have any of the MacPro's. I imagine some on PC side have units that are PFC and would require pure sine wave to operate a UPS on those computers properly also. I will not ever buy a UPS that is not a pure sine wave unit again.

A very reliable unit
I purchased my first of these UPS units in 2019, and it provided dependable service for years. The only maintenance it ever required was replacing the batteries every few years. In my experience with the many UPS systems I've owned, batteries typically last only 2โ3 years, and this unit uses two of them. Replacing them is a simple process that only requires removing two screws and taking off the front panel. This time, however, when the unit displayed an error code, installing new batteries didn't solve the problem. It turned out that the internal charging circuit had failed, so the batteries were no longer being charged. Based on my experience, the charging system seems to be one of the weaker points of this model. Even so, I decided to purchase another one because the original unit gave me about seven years of reliable service, which I think is very reasonable for its price. The new unit arrived very well packaged, as shown in the photo. Setup was straightforwardโjust plug it in, turn it on, allow the batteries to fully charge, and then connect your equipment. Overall, I'm happy with this UPS. No product lasts forever, and getting seven years of dependable service from a reasonably priced unit is more than acceptable in my opinion. That's why I didn't hesitate to buy another one.

Best Pure Sine Wave i found on the market for the price!
I can say hands down this thing has saved me a total of 3 times so far and only had it for 2 months. In my area we get power outages atleast once a week. And i have nice hardware like a 5070 ti and a 7800x3d to take care of not to mention my montech century II 850 watt psu. I can say this UPS kicked on the moment I had the lights even flicker in my house. I got to see this with my own eyes and hear the system kick on and it even showed in the app on the pc where it keeps record of all surges/outages. I highly recommend this if you have a psu that has atx 3.1 pcie 5.0/5.1 then you will need this version that has pure sine waves. Connectivity was a breeze plug in and download and install app thats it when you plug in the usb to the system and the back of your PCs i/o you can see in the app that it recognizes the PC. This has got to be the safest way to take care of all expensive PC parts. The battery lide gives me about 40 minute of gaming time on my system before it needs to shut down. You can set it to shut down when it only has 5 minutes of power left even if you like. And you can either have it shut down or hibernate even. Highly recommend ***** 5 stars. Saved my components im sure of it!

Rock solid, good price, good runtime, easy to manage
CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave So good, I bought 2! UPS systems in this class can easily cost more. I have had poor experience with APC systems in this range, so I gave CyberPower a shot. First one I bought for all my network equipment. I bought the optional network card as well. I have a couple routers attached, several WiFi Mesh base units attached by PoE router, laptop, NAS and a couple other items. I get 1 hour or more of uptime! (YMMV, yada yada) All the items I have attached amount to about 40% load if they are all on at the time. The 2nd UPS I bought about a year later for my home entertainment stuff - TV, stereo and a couple miscellaneous network items. Also gets about 1 hour uptime. No net card on the 2nd one, I wanted to test connecting it to HomeIt via HomeBridge and RPi. I don't need to manage these UPSs on a regular basis. We live in the mountains and power can be flaky. I wanted to have some way to monitor utility power when I was at work. The NIC adapter is perfect for that. I think it is a little on the $$ side, but has been worth it. Plugs right in and easy to configure. I started out with a 1 year promotional subscription to their service, but don't really need it. I still get power change notifications even without the subscription. When I get a power out notification I know I have about 1 hour of uptime before I need to turn on the generator. I did get the other CyberPower UPS to hook up pretty easily to my RPi unit running HomeBridge, with NUT UPS plugin. NUT can have a reasonably steep learning curve. I did get it working, but haven't really had the need to play with it too much since I still have the other UPS with the NIC. FWIW, I already had the RPi unit in place for a bunch of other IoT integrations with HomeKit - I would not go that route just for UPS management! ;P A word about generators: Most UPS systems will not play nicely with your standard portable open frame generator, regardless of how large/stable it is. It's the shape of the stepped wave that can often fool the UPS causing it to trip on. The only foolproof way around that is to 1) Get an online UPS system at 3-5 times the cost of line-interactive 2) get an inverter generator. Don't get too fooled by 'generator' modes on line-interactive or standby UPS types. Those modes may help, but in my experience it will not work 100% of the time. Initially I had a standard Champion 7kw open frame delivering power to whole house. Performance was rock solid voltage and frequency delivery without fluctuation. These CyberPower systems worked off the generator about 75% of the time, tripping on the rest of the time. I have a couple APC systems with 'generator' mode that would have nothing to do with the generator - they would trip instantly even in 'generator' mode. Still, this was not stable enough for me. My solution was to get the inverter generator - a 9kw Westinghouse delivering power to the whole house. It was actually cheaper than getting an online UPS equivalent to this CyberPower! Ultimately it wasn't just the lower cost, but the versatility and stability of delivering super clean pure sine to the whole house. Better for everything inside. Zero issues, of course, with these CyberPwoer UPSs. They just see the generator output as regular utility power.

Run Time Much Less Than Advertised, Works at 2/3 Load
Normally I don't get pure sine if I expect to be drawing very low power vs what the power supply is rated at since I figure it won't stress the caps that much and the runtime will still be reasonable. Recently though I purchased a bunch of small computers that I expect to have lit up much of the time pulling much closer to their power brick limits and I also am sizing the UPS closer to the max load (about 700 watts or so from a 1000 watt UPS) so decided to go with this pure sine UPS. UPSes are very helpful since one of my locations regularly experiences brown outs and brief power drops, generally for less than a minute and I have long running compute jobs that I do not want interrupted and I don't want my power supplies thermally stressed any more than necessary during what may amount to a few hundred power losses over the course of 5-10 years. I purchased two of these units and have not evaluated any of their features as I don't care about that much, but placed each of them fully charged under 700 watt resistive loads. At 2/3 of rated power with ideal loads the units with fully charged batteries brand new only had 2 minutes of run time. The screen says 6 or 7 minutes when power is first pulled but then drops drastically, getting only a third of what it 'estimates', as if the batteries are worn out crap. Of course looking at the specs they also indicate it should run like 2.5 minutes at 1000W which no way is that happening. Maybe you'll get 60 seconds, I didn't test it as I don't need to run max load and would never size that close to rated capacity. My conclusion, since I have two brand new units that behave identically, is that the batteries are likely brand new OEM and are not crap but are nut sufficiently large to meet Cyberpower marketing claims. Either I got a batch of crap OEM batteries, or more likely the marketing 'specs' and the controls in the unit are totally way off for run time. That being said, even if the units stand up to my load with older batteries for one minute they will probably be adequate to cover 95% of my power events and that's probably the case for most folks connected to a low quality power grid. If you want to protect against long power drops though and need time to shut down a computer pulling say 700 watts or more, you'll probably want an automated shutdown that can hit the deadline just to make sure they can flush everything from ram and shut down quickly enough to prevent data corruption of typical cheap consumer file systems and drives.

Silent, reliable, plenty of runtime
Had this about a month now. It's dead silent and just does its job in the background. Powers my PC and gaming monitor, and when the power actually goes out I'm getting close to 50 minutes of runtime โ plenty of time to shut everything down clean. No complaints, does exactly what it's supposed to.

Used to be a stringent APC Fan until I bought this
I purchased this UPS along with it's smaller sibling to replace my aging (and now underpowered) APC units. I had read most of the reviews, good and bad, here on Amazon before deciding on the purchase. I'm so very glad that I did. Initial unboxing was pleasant and easy - they were adequately packed in the box from Amazon, and the product boxes themselves were pretty unspectacular - none of the usual flair that you see with other companies - almost utilitarian. That's NOT a bad thing. Pulled the UPS out and found a note affixed to the UPS that stated information about the protection system built into the UPS to prevent it from turning on - the battery leads were already connected. NICE. Plugged in the UPSes and let them sit overnight on their own circuit. I moved them to the intended client PCs and connected everything I usually do - including the bundled USB cord (which by the way is a standard USB cord - you could swap it out from your printer if you needed to - no proprietary connection, another plus!) I then did what every geek I know would do, I loaded it up - fired up every copy of every program I could muster and really put it to the test. My primary PC has the following specs, so that you understand what kind of load I put on it: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T, 8GB RAM, 2x Raptor 150GB in RAID, 2 additional hard drives, 2 x Radeon HD 5870's in CrossFire, a Corsair 850 Watt power supply, and a Coolermaster HAF932 Full ATX case (no custom cooling - just the standard fans) I also connected my Acer B273HU (27") LCD to one of the UPS battery enabled plugs, and connected my other 22" Acer to a surge-only plug. Under full load - two copies of Eve Online running with Prime95 running in the background, I pulled off about a 414-430 watt load. This UPS just laughed at me and showed TWO bars out of five on the load meter. It would occasionally spike up to three bars, usually staying at around two for the most part. Well, that's nice while it's running on AC power - but it's a UPS, so how does it do on battery power? In a word, wicked. In two words, wicked SICK. I wish I could emphasize that here. The same load conditions above generated an initial run time estimate from the display of about 14 minutes. It eventually started ticking down, so I sat here thinking "OK, showtime" - then it settled on 11 minutes. And then jumped between 11-12 minutes for FIVE MINUTES. The battery gauge barely moved - one or two hash marks. Woah. I finally stopped the test around that point and plugged the AC back in. Not bad for a first showing, right? I left it alone for a week - went out of town for another, and come back to it at the conclusion of my trip. I repeated the test, this time with two copies of Eve, Prime 95, and for giggles, started running a transfer test across my network of media files. I begged the UPS to show me a sign, a weakness, ultimate failure by all accounts. It didn't flinch. I've *never* been as floored with a UPS as I have been with this unit. It should be noted that I had another APC unit of a same rating that could barely run my system as well as this one - even with a new battery (older unit). It's what ultimately drove me to trying this brand out. If you have Amazon Prime, it's even better. Overall: * No obnoxious smells * No dreaded hum from the unit before, during or after asking it to do its job (I admit, electricity makes me nervous - bad thing for a geek, but there it is) * QUIET! * The LCD display does turn itself off, but I find that it doesn't bother me as much - I just tap it with my toe and it turns on to show me what I need, so if you like to do some literal toe tapping, it will work nicely. Since the unit is quiet, you may find having it on your desk won't be a bother either. * For the cost, an absolute STEAL * Accessories are generous - standard USB cord (try getting that with your new printer!), Telephone cable, Coax Cable, driver CD, manuals, warranty card * VALUE. If that isn't obvious yet, you're hard to please :) If you're considering it, and the price is where it has been lately (about $180-200) stop thinking about it and BUY IT. The little brother is the 550 watt version, and running both my file server and backup server ekes out about a 24 minute run time (no monitors). This company is amazing. I hope you have the same luck with them as I did, and thank you Amazon for carrying such a fantastic product.
