Huge mark-up for the Bosch name on a cheap product
I am a Bosch fan. Mostly because I like the logo and blue. So I waste a lot of money stupidly on Bosch stuff. I’ve wanted these for a while. At the same time, I have become very curious about Knipex. Everyone has been telling me they’re amazing. So, being bored, needing new tools, and having the cash laying around, I ordered this and the equivalent Knipex for roughly $12 more. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B001094GLY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_5ZZQ51MQEPQ4F9BKFH2C?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1The Bosch definitely look sexy. But, they work difficult and have defects. Rust was coming out of one of them - I sprayed silicone lubricant on needle nose pliers - A LOT - and it still works unreliably (doesn’t open all the way and gets stuck). Upon examination, it might have to do with the shape of the metal parts not being perfect fits. The Bosch are made in China and, while I usually balk at that criticism, it’s real.Meanwhile, the Knipex worked great out of the box. They feel great. They have no cheap feel. They’re made in Germany. So for $12 more, I recommend getting the Knipex instead. Or for a lot less, buy a similar product from China and skip the middle-man. You’re paying for the Bosch name here.
