Practical and Resourceful

This is a fantastic resource for fostering a Growth Mindset in the classroom! I highly recommend getting the resource book to go along with it. Everything is pertinent and easy to understand. I especially appreciate the level of detail Ricci goes through to explain how to implement these ideas. It's extremely practical.

Resource for New and Seasoned Teachers

I appreciated the simplicity of the writing in this book. It makes the work easily accessible by new and seasoned teachers. I have added this book as part of my school’s summer reading list to help my staff prepare for the 2020-2021 school year.

Save your money

This book started out strong, but pieces were very poorly written and contradictory. Not a good source for growth mindset unless you only read the first two chapters. After that, it becomes excessively fluff-filled and has several sections with long quotes from others' work. While not academically dishonest, you would be better off reading the cited studies and drawing your own conclusions. I am sorry I wasted my time and money on this "book."

Three Stars

Helpful to skim through, but not much practical advice for the secondary classrooom.

The Only Book a Teacher Needs

Required text for a class I am taking for my licensure. Best. Book. Ever! It is full of very useful suggestions, not just on teaching mindset, but, differentiation, lesson deliver, etc.

Read 1st & last chapter and you’ve read the whole book

Had to get this for summer read for teaching.... boring book. Repeated the same thing over n over. Easy to write a paper or answer questions on because the whole book is the same.

No doubt in my MIND that this book rocks!!!

I greatly enjoyed reading "Mindsets in the Classroom" the first time around, and the updated version is like icing on the cake. Mary Cay Ricci is renowned in the field of education for her work with growth mindset, and I also appreciate the fact that she is very responsive to dialogue and questions. My colleagues and I have learned a great deal from her. I love the updates that include makerspaces and instructional coaching, as these topics are extremely relevant and gaining prominence in our field.

Valuable reading

I'm a volunteer reading tutor in a Title 1 school. This book gave me a new perspective on my approach in working with the students. It is wonderful - I read it twice. This book would be a valuable library addition to any parent or teacher.

I thought this book was going to give me useful strategies for introducing growth mindset

I thought this book was going to give me useful strategies for introducing growth mindset. I am disappointed in that it links to an American education system and has limited relevance to a uk classroom. It also spends a lot of time convincing me of the need for growth mindset education and not telling me how to achieve it. I found the Growth Mindset pocket book a better buy but am still looking for materials to support teacher development to foster this as a whole school approach in a primary school.

Inspiring.

This is my first ever review because I feel so strongly about this book and its message. I wish this book could be mandatory for every teacher, education administrator and parent. Thought provoking and inspiring. Simply written, personally I would have liked more research data, but a great introduction to some powerful concepts. Focus is on educators and how to create a "growth" mindset environment in classes and schools but great for parents too to ensure that a child's key influencers are communicating the same message. Buy this book.

MIndsets in the classroom

As with any book of this type pick out the good and relevant parts, discard the dross. It is aimed at schools rather than college hence why I'm not enamoured by it but I trudged through every page and I do make use of it again and again. For me it does take Carol Dweck's growth 'Mindset' into the classroom and expands upon this.

Well written

Great reference book on the topic of mindsets. Have started using some of the ideas and philosophy in my own class of 6 and 7 year olds and already seeing a difference in their attitudes to learning.

For me the book promised more than it delivered. Far too much talking about their experiences almost as if they did not have enough to fill a book. Not being a teacher (I run a youth group) I found it not that useful. Perhaps a teacher might but it does seem thin on material.
