I do like Nora Roberts
I do like Nora Roberts, and this books had a good story line with the nostalgia of Hollywood and the film industry of those days but I did not the step-son's character Paul. He was almost creepy in the way he would slither around the bio writer Julia. The way he would touch her cheek, run his fingers down her arm and they weren't even a couple yet and the possessiveness he displayed towards her was just creepy and I couldn't wait to get away from those pages when these two characters were together, which was much of the book, but then of course in the end and even before they do become a couple which was no a surprise. Just wasn't a favorite from this author. And it was a long book, I think it would have been cut back some, I mean 530 pages of Kindle reading.

Genuine who dunit
It’s been years since I’ve read a Nora Roberts romantic suspense and really enjoyed most of this one. I love Robert’s writing style, it is easy to get caught up in one of her stories, unable to put the book down until the villain is revealed. Roberts did a great job building the romance between the heroine, Julia, and the Hollywood movie star, Eve’s, stepson Paul. I gave a minus star due to the ending, which I felt, left too much unanswered and hanging. Yes, we find out about the villain, but I would have like an epilogue, explaining if the biography was published, if there were consequences for some minor villains, and perhaps a paragraph telling us about the future of Julia and Paul.So often, mystery writers build up a great suspenseful story only to end it with a slam bang thank you purchaser. I like endings that wrap things up a little bit better.I still recommend, since I stayed up to 2:30am to discover who the villain was.

Hollywood’s Heyday
I thought I’d read every published work of Nora Roberts but a scan of the synopsis of “Genuine Lies” quickly dispelled that notion. This lengthy (530 pages) vintage Roberts was originally published in 1991 and is set in the Hollywood of the early 80’s so everyone smokes and the glitzy fashions are over the top as one would expect in the heyday of studio contract stars. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed being immersed in the intrigue of that era and this story specifically. It is essentially a story of romance and intrigue that includes multiple extramarital affairs, deep secrets, lies, deception, even murder, and the lavish lifestyles of Hollywood’s rich and famous. I had to reorient my recollections of that era and all it entailed but once I got there it was easy to roll back the calendar and just enjoy. Pure escapism!

Vintage Nora Roberts - great read!
This is another of Nora Roberts’ novels originally published in 1991. I enjoyed it then, and enjoyed it again this time around. This complex drama/romance of Hollywood personalities is full of secrets, action, and intrigue. The only thing that dates it is that most of the characters still smoke. Since I remember when lots of folks smoked – in public, in restaurants, everywhere – it’s a trip down memory lane for me. Ms. Roberts is an intrinsic storyteller, and always produces a great read. I highly recommend it.

Good book, excellent condition for the price!!
Product: I was able to get the hardcover edition with minimal wear for only 1 dollar more than the Kindle price. For Nora Roberts’s books that’s an excellent deal!!Story: I love how the reader is transported back in time with Eve. The portions of the book devoted to Eve’s younger years are still written in 3rd person but the reader is taken into the past as if they traveled in a time machine I guess is how I’d describe it. Personally I prefer this method of writing to books told in 1st person.

Excellent read
this is by far one of Nora Roberts' best, in my humble opinion. This novel has everything- romance, drama, action, suspense...and murder. Not to mention a truly delicious plot twist! Her characters really make this story come alive; they are vigorous, well fleshed-out and believable. You can't help but root for Eve Benedict as she takes you on the twists and turns of the gritty and emotional rollercoaster that was her life and her legacy, complete with all the glitz and drama of old Hollywood, tarnished with countless dark secrets and painful memories beneath the glamour. Being a huge fan of the golden age of Hollywood and the actors who ruled the era, this book really got to me. The author did a stand-up job of weaving real-life icons and actors seamlessly into the plot. I imagined Miss Benedict on par with Lauren Bacall or Marilyn Monroe! It's fascinating that there are essentially two heroines in this story - Eve and Julia, and that Nora Roberts successfully portrays their drastically different personas so harmoniously. Better yet that there's a balance, and one doesn't overshadow the other. I also appreciate that Eve is not a typical heroine. I love most of Nora Roberts works and I feel she has an exceptional gift for creating characters who are so human. She's not afraid to add the flaws or explore the darker sides of humanity, and that's what draws me the most to her novels. I've re-read this book four times now, and it's just as fresh and entertaining as the first. This is seriously one of the best. a must-read!

Genuine Lies
I figured this this out half way through. I think parts of it reads like a soapy romance story which I am not really interested in. But then again, this is all about Hollywood. Overall, I would say “Meh”.

Intriguing mystery
Really enjoyed the book and storyline, however sometimes there were so many different characters I became bored trying to keep them straight I would put it down and not reading for several weeks. The second half of the book was the best

Amazing!!
This story is the best kind of soap opera. I want them to make a movie but only if it's set in the eighties. I didn't think I'd like eve. She was selfish and manipulative but I really enjoyed her because she was also loving. While I didn't warm to Paul straight away he won me over when he flew out to London to be with her even though they were in a fight. I really liked Julia and understood where she was coming from and why the big surprise made her so angry. I loved it all! I enjoyed reading if her past and only wish eve and victor got their happy ending or that Julia and victor could have shared a moment with the truth out there. Really enjoyed it would reccomend for anyone who enjoys a bit of drama.

Another great who dunnit from my favourite-Nora.
A super book full of the exciting background of a super star and her paramours and the exciting life she led but remained her own woman. The young woman employed by her to write her memoirs turns out to be quite a surprise herself. This then developes unto a who dunnit which keeps you on your toes until the end, all wrapped up in love and passion. What more could you ask for to fill a few days so that you can’t bear to stop reading until the end.

👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼Great read nice romance and suspense all the way.
I have loved every book I have of Nora Roberts novels and I have brought many. This one was no exception, true Julia's stiff but let's give her a break she's been hurt ah! And Paul was a typical alpha male ( I'm not really into those sort unless their wolves).I couldn't put this book down and I found I was really getting invested in the characters pathetic or what but I find you have to live the book to enjoy it. The only niggle about the story was what happened to Travers? I thought they would live in the big house and she would have someone to look after again, AND did she publish the book and how the people in it coped with the fallout.Come on Nora don't do that anymore I "hate" it when an author leaves loose ends especially as there's no follow up.Great read.

Another great book of Nora’s
Wow, I read this book years ago, but had forgotten most of it so decided to read it again, very hard to put down and the shock nearer the end, I did not remember and didn’t expect, can’t go into it as it will spoil it. Well worth a read, full of intrigue, murder, mayhem and romance. An emotional read, I don’t know how Nora does it, so many twists and turns, loads of detail.

Love and hate
Another enthralling book from Nora Roberts. Eve was a glittering star who seemed to have everything, but was a woman who had sacrificed almost everything for the glory. Deciding to have her biography written, she employs Julia, a single mother, to do so. Eva really puts the cats amongst the pigeons when she announces that it will include all of her secrets. The story is a maelstrom of emotions including love, fear, betrayal and sorrow. I loved it.
