If I buy this, is it a complete set? or we have to buy additional items?

Hi SamThis should include everything you need to super sleuth, the 22-page activity journal is full of great activities!

Would this be too "girly" for my 11 year old son? I think he would love the concept but not if it's girly.

I work for Educational Insights and sent it to my 9-year-old nephew. He loved it and showed no indication that he thought it was too girly.

Is it ultraviolet light coming from it?

HiThe Nancy B. Science Club Black Light Illuminator & Nature's Mysteries Journal includes a hand-held/stand-up black light with 3 LED black lights and textured grippers. Hope that helps, let me know if you have any additional questions.

Is the ink comepletly invisible in plain sight?

I don't think so, I am not 100% sure though as we never used it. It arrived broken and the seller would not reply to a return request.
