Amazing story and well written
This story is an amazing testament to the resilience of the human spirit. The author has endured so much. Her bluntness and willingness to accept responsibility for her actions is often humorous and makes for an excellent story.

amazing survival
I cannot believe Shelley survived and with such a good nature. She still has love, hope and forgiveness. It is a very long journey!

She experienced her life the hard way
The book was easy to read in that the sequence of Shelley’s life events were very well communicated to the reader. She was one that danced to a beat of a different drummer. I liked the book because it was an honest account of all the turmoil she went through growing up because she learned on her own and she learned the hard way. As she matured she did a lot of soul searching and realized what was important to her- Love and forgiveness to herself and to others.

Addicted
Shelley tells the sad story of her life. Addictions were all too common in her family. Her mom, her grandma, her dad, her siblings, herself, her children and her mates and friends. She got clear of drugs herself and tried to help others. But unfortunately addictions over shadowed a large part of her life.

Really enlightening into addict life and the change
I really really enjoyed this book. It helped understand Soo much about the addict mind and even how it struggles no matter how many years one has been clean. It was also incredibly touching in many ways. Even if you are not an addict and know someone hell even if you don't ..this book can teach you something, give you something.

MEMOIR PAR EXCELLENCE!
The world is full of people ‘writing their memoirs’, but this one has the makings of being an exemplary example of one of the great all-time memoirs ever to be printed! It tells the harrowing, cautionary tale of one woman’s hellish battle with life, the tragedies she has been forced to endure, and the redemption she experienced allowing her gradual survival.A truly fascinating look at the perils of substance abuse, and the dark world it opens the door to. Recommended reading for memoir lovers and anyone with concerns for loved ones involved directly, or indirectly, with substance abuse.

Heartbreaking story
Young Shelley was exposed to the hard life of drugs at an early age. She endured through all the drama and pain that comes along with the lifestyle. Her warped thought process as an addict is very relatable if you are one. Bravo for shedding light on the dysfunctional thinking, even after recovery!
