I love this for my yamaha psr 273. More than worth the 5 bucks!
I bought this item in December because I saw that even the high end priced products also had bad reviews. I digured if this was crap, i would not loose much money. The item surpassed by expectation for the five or so bucks. I plug in both midi ports when using. That way there is no confusion about in or out. I needed this to play into a music notation software. At first it didn't work because I had only one of the midi sockets plugged in. i plugged both in. It still did not work so I opened up the midi settings in the notation software to where I wanted the notes played in. I changed the settings from automatic to manual. i then fixed the manual settings to my liking. That was like a one minute or less fix. I then played my keyboard with all the cables plugged in and the notation was recorded to the software. Now Iknow that if i use on a another computer I will check the MIDI settings.Product is awesome. Works perfectly as desired. It's still going strong. great product. The supplier also delivered way earlier than I had anticipated given that the initial purchase had a late date delivery scheduled and agreed to.

Was easy to install
I never owned any MIDI to USB products, but I own an old Casio CTK-481 from ages long ago that my dad bought and never used it.It wasn't until recently decided to mess around a thing or two with music. All the other MIDI to USB products go for around $30-40 and this thing comes comes in at $5 which makes it appealing so tried buying it.It came by itself 2 days sooner in a bag through normal mail, probably because I'm on the east coast. I plugged it into my notebook, a Pony Vaio Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit with FL Studio 10 installed. I never used a MIDI device in FL and I can say without having to install drivers or find a CD, it worked right after plugging it in, which is great. Just had to press rescan devices in FL Studio. I don't know how to measure latency, but it feels fine to me, if there is any.One note though, on the device, it has 2 MIDI wires, in and out. Like the other reviews say, you have to reverse the order (place in wire into out, out wire into in). Otherwise, you may feel like it shipped broken or something.Speaking of other reviews, I hear it doesn't support a pedal, so if you have one, this product appears to be a no-no. I'm giving a 4 until I can see how it performs over the months.

One of the most useful USB cables ever!
If you are the type to be out and about, and tote your laptop & some sort of MIDI interface around with you, then this cable is a must have. It makes getting those spur of the moment lines captured so much easier and faster than lugging around extra dead weight and equipment. The simplicity can't be beat. You plug in your audio it/out, and plug into a USB. Done. Obviously, the quality isn't going to be nearly what it is from using an interface, but the trade off is great: 1 cable instead of several and no more carting around the dead space and weight of that overpriced interface. If you are piecing together some sort of home studio/wannabe studio, and you don't care too much about the high quality, or are pinched for pennies, this is a great way to get you by. Again, the quality isn't nearly as high as an interface will get you, but you're also only spending a fraction of the cost, so don't expect a huge fraction of the quality. If all you plan on doing is doing basic notation homework for a music theory class, buying this would be absolutely brilliant. If you fall into this third category, the type who is a true audiophile, has invested in moderately decent tools and instruments, and you use a voice recorder when the muse hits you... then invest the ten bucks on this. I see two very legit reasons for this group of people. First, you most likely have friends who bring some of their goodies with them from time to time. It's almost inevitable that you will end up with more instruments than MIDI inputs on your interface. Problem solved, and all you needed was that one last USB port. The second, and more likely reason to invest is this scenario: Most of us have had, or will have, that night where everything is flowing and coming out perfectly. Inspiration is running full speed. And then it happens. your interface decides to flip you the bird. It's an unwritten law, like that waitress asking how that burger is right as you take a bite. Your interface will go out on this night, and all the local toy stores will be closed. If you didn't spend the few dollars now, your whole night of making music has just been shot down, and all those great melodies and rhythms just got washed away like they never happened.

so effing great.... my electric kit for ipad garageband!!!!!
AWESOME! JUST AWESOME!!!!! I have an Electric drumset with midi out/in (Yamaha dd-65, but any should work), I am using this midi to usb converter to hook it up in garage band (with the lightning usb cable adapter and a powered usb hub [a usb hub that gets power from a wall socket])This thing works perfectly for me. Only issues I notice are the hi-hat pedal works, but only once at a time. I push the hihat pedal down and hit the hi hat and it sounds like a closed hi hat on the first hit only, the second hit and more are all open hi hats, I have to re press the hi hat trigger for it to close again... that's about the only problem but not too big of deal for me since I am using this as a portable recording device to throw down ideas when I am not at my studio... love it!

and it works like a charm
I am yet to use it properly, but to test, i connected my Korg microPA to laptop using the cable, and it works like a charm. Connects perfectly well and it was detected by the software without any glitch. Only point to note is - MIDI IN of the cable goes to MIDI OUT of your keyboard and vice versa.I am yet to figure out its complete use with the application, but I am positive that it will work well.
