You I use a medium thickness in picks, what would you recommend in these?

I bought the heaviest nylon in this style of pick and upon playing the piick seem to bend and give a little bit against the string especially the thicker gauge strings. If you are looking for a pick that doesn't feel like it bends while playing which I really don't care for that feeling when I'm playing. I quickly went out and bought the Dunlap big stubby and little stubby guitar picks in 1 mm 2 mm and 3 mm. If you are used to using medium gauge pics I would recommend the 1 mm big stubby and a little stubby. I hope that helps and makes sense.

Are the 1.5mm Dunlop Maxgrips a good pick for a beginning jazz acoustic guitar student?

These picks will work for acoustic playing. As far as jazz playing I prefer the Dunlop jazz III or the stubby 2 or 3mm.
