ChordBuddy Learning System - Guitar | Sheet Music Songbook for Beginners |Guitar Method with Color-Coded Instruction Book, DVD and ChordBuddy Device | Easy Step-by-Step Guitar Training for Students Review: It works...read review - It does work excellent. Read all of this review. With these 4 chords you can play about any song! Most songs only need 3 chords, G, C, D You will be strumming a song within minutes! Great for practice singing/playing, learn strumming patterns,or keep playing songs when my old fingers get too tired! There's a review of guy using them for a LIVE SHOW IN BARS! Travis, the inventor has EXCELLENT tutorials on YouTube! CONS: The buttons you press actually press multiple strings, they're made to be removable as you progress, (remove a "button")...nice idea BUT... Unless your fingers are pencil thin...thats not going to work! Because they're removable, they seem to slip out of the carrier...when the strings start buzzing, I have to keep pushing them back in place. I ended up slipping some paper in there so they don't slide out. I might end up gluing them. THEY HAVE TO FIT THE RIGHT GUITAR! Its not completely universal! The main issue is FRET SPACING! A guitar with 22 frets, 25 1/2" scale length, (measure from bridge to nut)....DIDN'T WORK...string buzzing, the "string pressers" slipping off stings etc Another guitar, 22 frets, 25" string length WORKED EXCELLENT Another guitar with, 21 frets 25 1/2" string WORKED EXCELLENT Match these dimensions to a guitar...you'll be jamming in minutes. Practice practice practice! Review: I'm happy - Good value.

It Works!!
A good system for a person to get a basic knowledge of basic chords, and chord movement. The one finger chords are good for getting the fingers ready to play actual chords. I was impressed with the take one tab off at a time. Going through the process, reviewing all the songs, and removing one tab at a time should get the person ready to play "real" chords using the fingers and the "usual" positions. Many times, the "play through the pain" part causes many people to give it up. I think this is going to work for my friend Linda. The reviews about "it does not work" --IMO--are caused by improper installation. I had to play around with ours--but got it figured out in a few minutes. I would recommend this to any and all to get through those first couple months on the guitar. After that, it should make further learning much easier.

Good, but has frustrating faults
I have zero musical skills, and using the Chord Buddy I feel like I can play around with and learn the guitar. The frustrating part of the Chord Buddy is the "dead strings" it causes. The product says it will fit any guitar, factually, it doesn't fit very well with the Silvertone guitar I also bought here on Amazon. Granted, the guitar is not very expensive ... however, I wasn't going to invest a lot when I have never played the guitar prior to wanting to try and learn. Does Chord Buddy make it easy to learn, and is it fun ... absolutely. Is it frustrating always getting "dead" strings or weird sounds from the guitar because the Chord Buddy doesn't quite fit right ... yes. On a side note my kid knocked my guitar over and the Chord Buddy broke, so there's that too. If you are like me, and have always wanted to play the guitar ... but don't know where to start. For $40 (or $80 in my case with the broken one) it is worth the investment as long as you are aware it is not as seamless as promoted.

Chordbuddy device needs improvement
Most of the negative reviews regarding the chordbuddy device relate to the products attempt to universally fit most guitars. It would be nice if the product fit more securely, but it's not designed to be a permanent fixture to your guitar. I spent over an hour fitting the chordbuddy to my guitar so that it would function as intended. This may sound like a lot and you may think that maybe I couldn't follow the simple installation instructions but I had two issues that needed attention to get the chordbuddy to work on "my" guitar. First was the chordbuddy didn't want to stay in the sweet spot or keep the proper angle no matter how tight I adjusted the screw. I resolved this issue by using some zip ties to pull the chordbuddy tight to the fret board at the recommended angle. The second issue was that no matter how hard I pushed down on the yellow button I couldn't get the A string to sound right because the little grey foot wouldn't push it down far enough for the string to rest cleanly on the fret. I don't know if the grey foot wasn't manufactured at the proper height or if my fret wasn't tall enough. I resolved this issue by cutting some self-adhesive felt pads to fit on the bottom of the grey foot. I ended up adding these pads to a couple other of the grey feet to allow for better results while playing. These modifications resolved the issues I was having and allowed me to proceed through the training. It would be nice if the product could be designed to universally fit more securely and to have adjustable feet.

Hand handicap: can play guitar again thanks to Chord Buddy
I am very grateful to the inventors of Chord Buddy because I can play guitar again despite a hand handicap. I have played guitar since childhood. I always loved it, just to strum and sing along with friends or by myself. In 2014, I suffered an injury to my hand which resulted in a handicap of my left hand, and I was no longer able to play guitar. Enter Chord Buddy. You only need one finger to play it. Yes, it only plays 4 chords- C, D, G, and Em but you would be amazed at how many really popular songs can be played with those four chords! In addition to the songbook that comes with Chord Buddy, you can do an Internet search for songs that can be played with those chords. It is astounding how many there are! Chord Buddy does not fit all guitars. It will fit an acoustic guitar and other guitars with thinner necks than a classical guitar. Installation is not the easiest, but with following the instructions with patience and care, you can successfully install it on your guitar. The picture is of Chord Buddy installed on my guitar.

Tried it but it's to small for my guitar.. I thought it would fit most of the guitars but not mine. I don't know if I misread it but I'm going to look if there is a bigger one..

I"ve been a full time guitar teacher for 16 years. I've had all sorts of students from beginners to advanced, young to old, in all the popular styles. electric, acoustic, classical, grade exams or students who just play for fun. A gentleman started guitar lessons with me recently he's 74 years old and although really enthusiastic has been struggling with the left hand chords. The skin on his finger tips is quite thin and wasn't developing the thick skin required to get a clear sound on the left hand. We tried gorilla tips for the finger tips with some success. Still the left hand was struggling to form chords and change quickly enough to play simple songs. His sense of rhythm and strumming is great and he loves to sing along to Johnny Cash, Elvis, Dean Martin etc. I took a chance and ordered him a chord buddy. From the first few strums he was absolutely delighted to be making nice clear chords and strumming through the 60 chord songbook. I wouldn't recommend it for everyone of every age or musical style because the chord buddy is limited to 4 chords in the key of G and you can't use a capo. But if your goal is to sing and play and your comfortable in that vocal range or you want to back up a friend it's great. Especially if you have limited mobility or even a disability in the left hand, (the buttons can be played with one finger) I think the chord buddy a blessing and allows people who otherwise wouldn't have access to the guitar great enjoyment and sense of achievement. So the product gets 5 stars from me. The packaging gets a big fat zero! Amazons Fault! Mine was delivered without even an envelope jiffy bag box anything. The courier labels were stuck directly over the product information, front and back, box was squashed and one end had a flap open, luckily no small parts were missing. If it was a present I'd have been embarrassed to give it to anyone and would have returned it. It's the first time in 20 years of mail ordering products that I've encountered such a lazy careless attitude to P&P Maybe that should that just be one P? Anyway the product deserves a strong recommendation so I went ahead it with a positive review hope it helps!
