Great Alternative to Legos [Wide range of difficulty] [Terrific author/instructions]
I wanted to get into origami again, but I didn't want something that was just beginner folds. However, I didn't want a book that was only higher level folds either. This book starts you with a simple mouse and duck, but after a few days I was already making the swan and a rocket-ship. If you flip towards the back, there are insanely complex folds for you to learn. Ones that include tiny folds for insects requiring tweezers, rounded paper, and even origami that moves--a pianist and a violinist! I am not near those folds, but I feel confident that I will be able to accomplish them with enough practice because of the excellent instructions and diagrams in this book. The author will also not shy away from letting you know it takes work and will not come easy, so have patience. Very rewarding and cheap hobby that uses your hands. I discovered my love for legos recently, but I wanted something less expensive and that would not take up space--origami is like Legos on a budget!

Great book, especially for beginners!
I appreciate the large book pages that allow the visual instructions to be clear and easy to understand. For those newer to origami, it’s tempting to just flip to a page and start folding. But it’s really worth it to take a moment to read the introduction before diving in (in particular, reviewing the “symbols and terminology” page will help to avoid mistakes and wasting beautiful paper!).

Origami art form
Great for the kiddos. Had one spend all night seeing how far they could get as it gets harder. Not sure where they get the names and descriptions from but none of my business.

The perfect "Next Step" in your origami journey.
Most origami books start out with a traditional flying crane and then give you a bunch of simple models such as a frog or a swan. But I find that I'm quickly bored with the simple designs they provide. This book is the perfect next step in your journey. Be aware that the models are essentially sequential. Meaning that each model builds on the techniques of the one before it. You may not, for example, want to build another Nun model but you should try it just to understand the techniques involved. The models quite quickly move into the upper intermediate to advanced levels. But take your time and work through them. I even suggest making key models multiple times to really understand the concepts behind them. I particularly like the shark model since it shows new ways to manipulate the classic bird base. I also really like the kangaroo which is vastly more realistically proportioned the typical kangaroo model you see in other books. Also, it has 2 legs, 2 arms, a head and a tail. That's 6 appendages and yet it's made from a triangle. Think about that. 6 appendages made from a shape with only 3 corners. By the time you get to the intermediate and advanced models you should expect to be quite challenged. This is not an "easy origami" book. This is the book which will guide you into the next realm of the hobby and give you some insight into the possibilities of what is possible.

Do not start leatning at this level
This man is a god amoung folders. If you are just starting out get one of his earlier books to help you learn the language of origami. I started 40 years ago with his original book. I got this one thinking I could just jump back in after 10 years. I was so rusty I had to go back to one of my earlier books to re train my mind and fingers. The pieces in the book are incredable and you will have a great time with outcome as well as the challenge. I would recommend you start with 8 inch paper as some of the pieces have many overlapping folds.

For advanced folders
There should be somewhere listed that this for advanced folders. The instructions are really hard to understand and the diagrams are hard to follow. It's insanely frustrating.

Great Orgami book for advanced users!
My son loves this book. It's pretty advanced so not for beginners. Keeps him busy for a long time!

Muy bueno y gratificante
Es magnífico y clásico a la vez. Vale la pena comprarlo. Sobre todo el reloj de cuco y el escorpión.

Leuk
Heel leuk maar moeilijk. 3D tekeningen kunnen duidelijker.

The complete book of Origami by Robert J.Lang
Beautiful book for above 10 years. Every fold of every model is clearly explained with drawn diagrams and written directions. The book also has a good get up. I am very satisfied to gift it to my child.
