I clean the filter (rinse it with a jet stream from the garden hose) at the end of every day and replace the filters with a new one about every 3 or 4 weeks so far. If you let the filter go without cleaning, you may only get a week or two at best. It cleans very easily and only takes a few minutes. As I said, the inside diameter is a little smaller than other filters, but it's a soft rubber so it makes a tight seal at the top and bottom of the pump assembly. That's not a critical concern of mine, but if you're looking for a tight fitting filter - this is the one for you. Overall I give it 5 stars for the price, and quality of the product. Delivery was actually a few days earlier than was originally estimated so that was a bonus.
