Great mic that is versatile for many musical situations with good durability and connectivity. sound quality is great for the money. it does run off of phantom power so battery not an issue.

Purchased this for a Trombone mic for a live Vegas theatre show. Works great. We bought one several years earlier for the Trumpet, and it's still working great. Good mic for a decent price.

I play tenor saxophone in a cover band about once a month. I didn't expect this mic to make a major difference, but it did. I was personally tired of being restricted to a normal mic, and I wanted to be able to move around more without having to adjust a mic stand everytime. I also know next to nothing about sound equipment, but I know Shure's reputation and I thought it was a fair price. It sounds amazing for the price and it definitely beats my previous setup. I was originally debating between the wired one and the wireless, but because of the price difference, I went with the wired. Though I am restricted to the wire, I still am able to move about while also having enough length to suit my needs. If there any other sax players out there that know nothing about sound equipment, this the wired condenser mic does require phantom power. This would be an additional cost (less than $20 for a cheap phantom power source) unless your mixer has it built in. I can see myself using this mic for a long time. I highly recommend this for any sax play that wants better sound quality with an option of mobility on stage.

Works great! I was using a mic on a stand for my alto sax, but it was difficult to keep the sax close enough while playing. This clip-on follows my sax, and I can easily move it to my tenor as well.

I purchased this to mic up my resonator guitar (the onboard piezo was junk, and other pickups just didn't capture the resonator biscuit...which is really the whole point on that style of guitar). This Shure mic did the trick. It sounds pretty clear and authentic, way better than other little mini-preamp mic contraptions or acoustic pickups. If using it for a guitar, it can be tricky to find a place to clip it so that it stays secure and stays out of the way of strumming. (You can see what I worked out on my pictures). It is definitely well built for pro use. But since it is condenser, you won't want to drop it! I definitely recommend this mic. Only (mild) cons: - it could be just a *little bit* louder - it could be just a little bit cheaper (some $ is paying for the Shure name) - the XLR barrel is a heavy thing. It is built like a tank. That's good for durability of the socket, but you need to be careful not to hang all that weight on the fairly thin mic wire.

Thought it would do a good job based on reviews. Only worked well for 2 performances. On third gig, sound guy was getting feedback through the mains with bad static every time the cable moved. Inquired from seller about a refund after the normal time but have not heard from them.

Good sounding mic. The only thing I was hoping s if it had a mute switch.

Nice and warm sound with dark midrange ..some fat frequencies at @ 90 to 300 Hz...highly essential for Alto sax...great highes and soothing base..love the product... One thing I did not like is heavy preamp that hangs to your trousers as it has got XLR connection...

Clips well to bell of instrument with no concerns it would dent or scratch it. Sound recorded is good.
