Atoma Diamond Sharpener Coarse Grade 140

Just in case you don’t know Atoma sharpening plates are the best that you can buy I have used them for many years now and they are just the best a bit more expensive but they last for ages so I can highly recommend Atoma sharpening plates.

I use this to flatten my whetstones after use. It does that job brilliantly. Not showing any sign of losing it's efficiency after a dozen or so uses

If you are willing to pay for quality, this is the diamond whetstone to get. Make sure you get the correct coarseness grade.

Great for leveling your stones, saves your time massively if you're professional chef. I use it on my chosera's and shapton stone's. It can leave small scratches on them, but after few strokes with your knife they gone. I have Japanese single bevel knifes, so I really need my stones flat and that atoma is massive help.

i was expecting a level tool because of the reputation and the work it is designed to do. however my plate appears to be slightly bent. i have tested it by eye, squares, straight edges, spirit levels, brand new japanese whetstones and any other relatively flat tools that i own. the result is always a slight curve in the same direction. i dont know ow i am supposed to true a whetstone with a wonky atoma

Perfectly flat, exactly as described, perfect for flattening finer stones

This works well for sharpening and flattening. If you have chips in the iron I would use some sandpaper first at 80 or 120 grit but after that, this, a 400 and a 1200 before a strop will get your tools sharp.

I used this a part of my plane and chisel lapping process.I found it very gritty, it gives the impression that the diamonds are loose, it could be a bedding in process.It's also not 100% flat, I measured it yesterday and can get a 0.002” feeler gauge under a straight edge, not sure what the tolerances are. I would prefer a ferritic base, as for small items I use a block with magnets to hold the item flat against the surface.
