The taste is balanced and pleasant, making it an excellent choice for those who are particular about flavor. The shake boasts a creamy texture that is neither too thick nor too watery. This makes it easy to drink on its own or incorporate into smoothies and other recipes. Orgain Vanilla Protein Shake is formulated with organic plant-based proteins, including peas, brown rice, and chia seeds. Each serving delivers 21 grams of protein, which is essential for muscle repair and growth, making it an excellent option for post-workout recovery or as a meal The combination of different plant proteins ensures a complete amino acid profile. Delicious, Good Nutrition, Wish It Didn't Contain Sunflower Oil Though
Updated November 24, 2024: Still ordering this and still drinking it! Overall, this is the best ready-to-drink protein shake out there in the dairy category. The ingredients are organic, the milk protein is from grass-fed cows, and the taste is absolutely delicious. I have tried almost every dairy and non-dairy protein shake out there. The vast majority of them are not organic, have artificial sweeteners and contain questionable thickeners like carrageenan, an inflammatory substance. The Orgain has small amounts of locust bean and gellan gums, which may or cause a problem for some, but I have not experienced any issues. The only two ingredients I wish were not in the product are brown rice syrup and high-oleic sunflower oil. The brown rice syrup because of the potential arsenic concentration, although thankfully the main sweetener here seems to be the organic cane sugar. The sunflower oil because it's a PUFA and PUFA's have inflammatory effects on the body. However, I drink it because at least Orgain uses High-Oleic sunflower oil, which is a form of sunflower oil where the polyunsaturate content has been decreased and and the monounsaturated content has been increased. So that reduces it's inflammatory effects and makes it safer to consume. Still, if I had the choice, I could do without either the rice syrup or the sunflower oil. But on balance, this is a good product and has good nutrition, although at only 16 grams of protein per container, it will not be a good meal replacement on it's own. I'd consider it more of a supplement, or a really good snack. It also makes for a great coffee creamer. The vanilla and chocolate flavors are absolutely delicious. I never get tired of them. The strawberries & cream is also very good, although it has a slight chemical aftertaste. The mocha flavor is o.k., but would be my least favorite of the 4 flavors. I have the vanilla on Subscribe & Save, and get a case or two every month.

smooth light vanilla taste, leans a bit sweet for my preference/Cafe Mocha good too!
Orgain Organic Nutritional Shake, Vanilla Bean - Meal Replacement is pretty good. It is a tad more sweet than I like, and I would prefer more fiber. Usually I make a smoothie using a meal replacement powder, but I wanted some convenient ready to drink option available for on the go, or when I just dont feel like getting the blender out. I also use this as creamer in my coffee. I see there that there are many reviews stating theirs were chunky. I have had a few now, and haven't had any issues thankfully. I poured one into a glass and took a picture so I can show you how smooth my supply is. Purchased June 2021 with best by date of May 2022 ------------------- Edit to add: I like Orgain shakes enough that I have purchased the vanilla few more times, and I recently purchased the Cafe Mocha. I came here to review the cafe mocha, and my old vanilla review came up. They must be on same page. While I prefer the vanilla for its versatility (drink straight, add to smoothies, use as coffee creamer), I like this Cafe Mocha a lot too. Has a light easy to drink flavor. I have added to coffee, or I have added some instant coffee to this and then poured into a cup with ice. All good.

Tasty and healthy snack or meal
I’m recovering from surgery and a systemic infection that kept me from eating much. Breeze and Ensure will keep you alive, but they have more chemicals than I’d like and the source of the whey is unknown. So, I use Orgain. Mixed with their unflavored vitamin powder or their vegan nutritional drink gives a healthy meal that is easy to prepare, tasty, and healthy. You could even add the protein powder and vitamin powder to some bananas and strawberries for a super healthy meal or add some cacao powder and heat for healthy hot chocolate. Pros: organic real food and vitamins, taste great, lower in sugar than other protein nutrition drinks, good at room temp and cold, responsible packaging Cons: they are a bit addictive and at 290 calories are really a meal substitute. I hope they begin raising their cattle with the humane, vegetarian and grass fed certifications too. Srawberry flavor is too sweet for my taste, but if you’re a child of the 80s, you may like the Nestle Quick taste. Bottom line: I’ll kep some in stock in case of illness or if I need a quick meal. The vanilla is even better than the chocolate imo. Tasty, healthy, good after a workout, dental work or illness. Add to cereal or oatmeal for some filling protein energy.

New formula tastes gross and gives me diarrhea
This used to be my go to protein/nutritional shake. I thought the vanilla flavor was yummy and it really helped me get some calories in in between meals. I really liked that they used mostly real sugar as fake sugars make me sick. They did have a little bit of Stevia in there; which normally I don't like, but I seemed to be able to handle it. However in changing the packaging they also changed the formulation. And they did not advertise at all that the ingredients had changed. I instantly realized something was different the moment I tried one of the bottles with the new packaging. It had that gross fake sugar/monk fruit extract taste to it. And low and behold, I check the ingredient list and they had added monk fruit extract to it. The taste was notably less good, but I powered through it and tried to incorporate the new formulation into my diet. I finally realized after a while of drinking them and eliminating other possible triggers that this stuff was making me sick. It gave me diarrhea every day that I drank one. It's really unfortunate that they added the Monk Fruit Extract to this, as alot of folks who cannot handle fake sugars (like Aspartame, sucralose), also cannot handle monk fruit extract and/or stevia. So now there is a whole group of people that cannot enjoy this shake or use it to keep their nutrition levels up. I'm also not sure WHY they added monk fruit extract, as the amount of sugar in the drink (12g, 22% DV), does not seem to have changed from the previous formulation. So now I have no protein shakes that I can drink, as the rest of them either have fake sugars or monk fruit extract in them. And the few who do have real sugar only in them tend to use WAY too much sugar. I wish they, or any company really, would just make a simple protein shake with NO sugar substitutes AT ALL in them, and instead use low to medium amounts of real sugar. I realize Americans want everything to be super sweet but there are a bunch of us out there that cannot handle intense sweetness or sugar substitutes due to a variety of health conditions (IBS, Crohns, UC, fibromyalgia, Mast Cell disorders, etc).
