In my front lawn I have a lion's head fountain that continually draws praise. The problem with the fountain is that like any open air water cache, moss and fungus are attracted to it. The resulting green, murky water did a disservice to the fountain.Initially, I used the natural clarifer that I use with my hot tub to maintain the clarity of the fountain's water. The clarifier sort of worked, but the clarifier functioned by coagulating the water impurities so that they were removed by the hot tub's filter. The fountain did not have a filter and the result was that the impurities clogged and killed the pump.An extensive web search suggested that Fountain Clear would help. I purchased a bottle, with guarded expectations, but it really works. I believe that you are to add an ounce for 100 gallons. My fountain is perhaps five gallons so I would add half of a cap full. The entire summer the fountain water remained crystal clear ... and I do mean CRYSTAL clear. It was amazing. The water would evaporate at a rate of 2 gals a week. One week I would simply add water, the following week I would add water and half a cap of the Fountain Clear.I highly recommend this product, however, there is a caveat. While the fountain's water remained crystal clear, algae invaded the fountain like never before. The water was clear so you could see the algae all the better. It was no big deal because when the cold weather of winter came, the algae froze and literally flaked off. However, I will search for a chemical to limit algae growth while allow Fountain Clear to maintain the water's clarity.

The water clarity on this really really works I couldn't be happier I will definitely buy from this buyer again because of the fact that it made my fountain look so clear and it's very inexpensive and it's easy to use it lasts a while I love it

Didn’t work

I bought this for use in a small outdoor fountain. I know birds and dragonflies visit it, so I didn't want to use anything that would harm them, such as chlorine. The fountain had been cleaned and I was looking forward to keeping it that way. The concentration was supposed to be an ounce for every hundred gallons, and my fountain holds maybe five, so I put in one cap-full first. Within a week I had things growing in it. Thinking I might not have used enough, I cleaned the fountain again and this time used three caps full. Again there were things growing within a week, and within two it was almost overtaken. I'm not sure if it's the heat or the humidity in my area, but this product doesn't work for me.

Read the product box: it does not call this a cleaner, it says "clear," because it is an additive. It is not intended to clean the fountain, water feature, or birdbath, etc. It keeps the fresh water you add clean for longer, reduces algae, etc. I have tried it, and am on the fence about its efficacy, but decided to keep using in case it's a fraction better than not.(BTW, Microbe Lift 3Pond Bird Bath & Statuary Cleaner 10SBSC is designed to clean. I've used it when changing bird bath water, as it's also safe for wildlife. But they no longer ship it to my area in Calif.)

The product works just as it says it does and this particular size is so much more economical than the small bottles I found in local stores. I prefer to buy locally, but sometimes it's just not feasible to pay that much more.

Just started using this brand for large 3 tier fountain. Seems to work well.
