The Art of Mad Max: Fury Road

The media could not be loaded.  I've received a few request for the review of this artbook and now it's finally here.The Art of Mad Max: Fury Road is a huge 176-page hardcover artbook that measures 16 inches diagonally across.This book features the art and making of the film. In terms of break down, I would say it's 50-50 art and photography. The art consists of storyboards, story scene paintings, character and vehicle design. The photography are of film stills, behind the scenes shots and those to highlight certain aspect, such as close ups on the different vehicles. The photos are fantastic also because they are really high res where you can see lots of details and well composed like film art.The artworks are beautiful with a nice textural feel to them. I'm not sure how they are created but majority is definitely not digital painting, more like pencils, pastels, and those grainy medium, and some paintings also. Some drawings actually reminded me of Moebius' art because of the level of detail rendered.So what's featured exactly?Furiosa and the wives, Immortan Joe, Coma the Doof Warrior, Miss Giddy, Nux and the many other characters. Vehicles are the highlight also and we have the War Rig, Gigahorse, Big Foot and various other pursuit vehicles. The vehicle designs are really amazing. Overall, there's this really gritty steampunk look to everything and everything seems to work well together visually.The commentary included talks about the filming process, the characters, story plot at time, vehicles, building stuff, the staging and even some nostalgia from the first few Mad Max films. If you also left the theater in amazement after watching Mad Max: Fury Road then I'd definetly recommend getting this! The quality of the pages is great and it is filled with information. It's amazing to read about all that went into making the movie, the story line, the dedication, and all those awesome raw action scenes! The pages are thick and good quality and aren't easily smudgeable. The photography in it is also great and seeing the storyboards from years back when the movie was just an idea is awesome. All in all a great book to have if you're not only a fan of the movie but also enjoy all the behind the scenes stuff.

I love all the MadMax movies, but Fury Road had the most killer vehicles. Lots of them featured here, plus characters and storyline info. I'm sure the book could've been twice as many pages, but I'm happy for what it is. A beautiful hardcover book worthy of any fans collection. I bought mine during Prime days and saved 5 bucks, but would've paid full price either way. Oh what a lovely book!

Goes into wonderful detail on the production of the film: Props, costumes, locations, vehicles. Was better than I expected it to be, and I already had high hopes. My favorite section was a discussion of the cars and the challenges involved in actually filming with them.

This is a great book that will serve as a nice companion to the film.This is a well-balanced book that includes a lot of imagery: early sketches, concept art, production photos, character portraits, and shots of the finished movie. The book is mainly organized by major characters and sequence. Material is presented in chronological order of how it appears in the film.Anyone who has seen "Fury Road" knows that it has a very distinct look, whether it be the complex vehicles, the unique character makeup, or the overall color palette of the film. As you might imagine, there is a lot to explore in this art book, which allows you to see the design work up close and study it. Love this book. A must-have for anyone who enjoyed the film. Probably one of the finest quality books I've ever owned. A good coffee table size with lots of photographs, sketches, and behind the scenes details on thick paper. I was annoyed with how long it actually took between purchasing the book online and actually receiving it. I would have liked the seller to have been more upfront with their inability to provide the product on the estimated date they provided.

One gets the feeling you could have a whole series of "The Art of" dedicated to Mad Max Fury Road. The vehicles alone could fill pages and pages. Still, this is one gorgeous book, a must for those of us who enjoyed this master piece. Not only you get to admire the amazing concept art, beautiful stills and story-boards, you also get a peek behind all the stories and backstory George Miller and company cooked for these characters. Great buy!

Beautiful Artbook full some of the most wonderful pieces of art based on a movie I've seen yet. The artbook is a perfect complimentary addition to either a collector or a fan of the series. It's stocked with lots of photos from the shooting sessions and an astounding amount of info about the developement of the movie itself, I especially liked the part about the rig. It's just fantastic.

Una pasada de libro. Grande, de tapa dura e imprescindible si eres amante no solo de la película sino del cine. Con muchos extras, imágenes de los bocetos, fotos de la grabación... Un tesorito, vaya. Baratísimo para lo que es. Muy recomendable.
