I can now do pull ups in an apartment that doesn't accommodate all the other pull up bar setups
Forgive the lengthy review, but I wanna provide you with details of my experience so you can determine whether my assessment applies to your needs/interests with this product.I have been wanting to be able to do pull ups at home so I started looking into pull up bar setups. Long story short, after much analyzing of my apartment, it turned out most setups out there either physically wouldn't work or would require too much rigging/rearranging or were too expensive (hundreds of $$). While scrolling through pull up bars on Amazon, I saw this one. I liked the fact that it wasn't permanent since the only place I could put it was in my entry door frame which, unfortunately, the door would not be able to close with the pull up bar in it. I liked the fact that it could be adjusted to fit my 35" wide frame. I liked the fact that due to its design, as you put weight on it, it technically should become more stable. Finally, I liked the price and that delivery time was maybe a week out. My only concern was I wasn't sure how well built my wooden door frame was and although the support feet on this pull up bar appeared to have good surface area on them, I didn't know if once I put my weight on it, if the force would just crack or even break the frame. I debated and decided to take the chance in buying it.I found the setup to be fairly easy, but I am a mechanic by trade so that may have given me an advantage. Its functions and features made sense to me, it just took about 5 minutes to figure out how they all worked together. I did read the instructions just to make sure there were no less-than-obvious do's or don'ts. I found the wording of the instructions kinda confusing, but the illustrations were helpful. From opening the box it arrived in, to being set up in my door frame and ready to test, was about 10 minutes tops at a casual pace. I did hear some creaking from my door frame during the final tightening of the bar, but no further sounds during use.Its been a week now. I'm 5'10" and weigh around 120 lbs and do 5 pull ups on it 2-3 times a day every day. I keep it leaned against the wall near the door when not in use and I think it literally takes me less than a minute to grab it, install it and have it ready to use. The door frame makes that creaking sound every time I do that final tightening of the bar, but still, no further sounds during use. It also has yet to move on me at all. I've checked the door frame several times after removing the bar and while the feet definitely leave a print on the wood, I don't see or feel any warping or cracking of the wood. Its safe to say that at this point I am very happy with this pull up bar. Just a few months ago I could do 10 pull ups at a time without breaking a sweat. Having been unable to do many of my outdoor sports and activities over the past couple months, I was heart broken to discover those 5 pull ups mentioned above is the best I can do right now. I hope this product continues to support me (quite literally) as I work my way back up to 10 again!

It's great, if you install it correctly
The instructions are so poorly written, you're almost better off not reading them at all. That said, the bar is simple to install and practically foolproof. The only way this thing is going to fail is either misuse, or improper installation. Unless the bar snaps or is otherwise physically compromised, it is YOUR fault if it falls.Getting it set up can be a little tricky. You have to "widen" the bar by rotating the center segment while holding the end feet stationary, until the width is almost identical to your door frame. Then you can place it in your doorway, and tighten it in place. I did it solo, but having an extra set of hands would save a lot of time. For the record, you cannot overtighten the bar when you're putting it in. As long as you're doing it by hand, you really want to get it as snug as possible. If you can't do a pull-up already, maybe get someone who can to help you put this thing in. Seriously, get it twisted in tight. Failure to do so is the main reason you'll see folks complaining. When you think it's good enough, keep going. You aren't going to break anything. There may be a Herculean figure with forearms strong enough to crack a door frame by overextending the bar, but anyone in that kind of shape probably isn't buying something so they can work out in their bedroom. For average people, there is no way to go too far, so tighten it as far as you can. And for the first week or so, check it and tighten it down more if you can, as your door adjusts it might relax a little. After all that, congrats. You have something that'll last forever.

Very sturdy an great design, just be careful where you install
This pull up bar is great - it's very secure once installed and the grip is a comfortable size. The added grip pads are also a nice touch if you don't want to hold onto the bare metal.I liked the "feet", which are designed to utilize the weight of the person using it, making it even more secure when in use.Installation was a bit of a hassle at first, since the feet can spin freely until they're pressed against the wall or a door jamb. I had to hold it against the floor and hold the other foot in place while I twisted it to get it to the right length, then finish up where I wanted it installed.Unfortunately, I'm returning mine because while the bar is very sturdy, my doors are not.To get the bar tight enough in the door jamb, it actually pressed part of the jamb into the frame. At one point while finding the right tension, the bar slipped and scuffed the paint with the blue feet.I removed it after leaving it installed for a day, and it ended up pulling paint off the frame.I think as long as you have a sturdy enough place to install it, you won't run into the same problem.

Sturdy, Reliable and Safe
The media could not be loaded. This is by far the most sturdy and reliable portable pull up bar I have used. I spent some time researching and I'm quite happy with my pick.I tried it on a few doors and I settled for a concrete doorframe. This is important because it is designed to latch on tight, it even has clips on each side to lock it in position once it is at your desired length. It does leave a mark but I'm happy to repaint it when I take it off. It's best to set it up in a place where you would not be taking it off regularly cause it fits quite solid. A friend of mine who is over 100kg tried it and it did not flinch. The only thing I would have like is a better extending and contracting mechanism. You expand it by turning it on each side. Once one side is fit, it takes some doing to turn the other end to fit into position. Once you do though it's a fantastic pull up tool.In conclusion, just make sure you get your doorframe measurements right, pick a concrete or solid frame and try not to take it off often.
