Has everything for the coffee loving family!
The media could not be loaded. I needed something that made enough coffee for two mugs each for three people- big mugs- and this was it.I needed something that let me choose the boldness of the brew. This is it.I needed something that I could program for a time to brew. This is it.I wanted something that wouldn’t spill when I poured. This is it.I wanted something I could easily pour into. This is it.Finally, I wanted something that looked nice.Bingo!

Good Features but Bad Design
I'm fairly picky about my coffee. I loved my Ninja coffee maker but it died after 6 yrs. They don't make that model any longer and the new model is $160+ with more features than I need. So I decided on this Hamilton Beach that has a few features I liked in an effort to save about a hundred dollars. It's not for me so I've returned it.Now, taste is subjective, so I won't get into that except to say I personally didn't care for the taste (even after trying different amounts of water, coffee and brew strengths). Why I returned it... several minor issues that designers should have cought, such as...*Front pour lid doesn't lay back out of the way so you're forced to hold pot 6 / 8 inches above when pouring.*Have to pour water in very slowly because of very shallow entry that slightly tilts back for water to flow into the reservoir.*Water drips on burner plate. When changing the filter, adding water etc... Keep a towel nearby.*Very noisy/loud when brewing and occasionally when not.*Water filter that needs replacing every 30 days (even though I filter my water before use). Just an extra expense.*You can't put enough grounds in the filter to make a decent pot without the grounds overflowing the filter and going into the pot of coffee, even using the strongest flavor setting.*Flavor, if you like strong coffee, forget it.*Slow, 11 minutes to brew a half pot (I never timed a full pot).Keep in mind that's on the 1to4 cup strength setting (yes, 1to4 cup is a strength setting and not amount setting). It does have good features as well (which is why I bought it in the first place).3 strength settings. Regular + Bold + 1 to 4 cup3 burner plate heat settings. High + medium + low10 min to 4 hr Auto Shutoff Adjustable in 10 min increments.14 cup pot (most are 12).But, in the long run, I wasn't happy with it at all, so I decided to return the Hamilton Beach and pay the extra $ for another Ninja (with more features than I need or want).

Program function not functional.
This is my second pot like this one. I use the program function so my coffee is ready when I wake up. My first one gained time so quickly I had to reset the time every night before going to bed but otherwise it worked as it should until it stopped heating altogether. I broke out my old coffee maker and used that until I could get this replacement. This one from day one gained time just like the old one but it worked otherwise. Oh well. Then, only in the program mode it stopped brewing and turned off before the brew cycle finished with about 4 cups to go. I noticed the clean mode light was lit so I went through the clean cycle and now it keeps better time but every morning I wake up to an unfinished brew and the clean light is lit. I have run the clean cycle and unplugged it numerous times which should have reset the clean cycle timer but no joy. I like everything else about it but for me, this is a really serious a black mark against it. If anyone at Hamilton Beach reads these reviews, I hope you will address these issues and not just scrap this model and release a new one with the same or new problems.

Not a satisfied customer.
REVISED review: THE GOOD: Nice that to fill with water, I can leave it in its space and not have to pull it out to fill.THE BAD: Auto shut off kicks off at random times even though it is set for 2 hrs. Sometimes right after brewing and you don’t realize it until you go to get a fill up.Also, Keeps cutting off before even finishing brewing. Sit and wait for it to get done then go to get a cup and it has shut off half way through so have to start it again and wait again.

Great coffee maker!!
Time for a new coffee pot. It’s been about 5 years since we purchased the Mr. Coffee. It was a good run. I wasn’t looking for Hamilton Beach specifically. I sort of thought we’d just get another Mr. Coffee or something more high brow. We are quasi coffee snobs. My husband and I LOVE this Hamilton Beach 14-cup coffee maker!! The carafe has a huge handle on the side and my husband can get ALL of his fingers around it. I like that you can just keep it under the counter because the top front pops open so you can pour the water in, or you can flip open the top back if you want to pour it in faster. The cone shaped basket also pops open to the side and not from the top. There are plenty of programmable settings as well. I’m definitely happy I chose this particular coffee pot. The coffee tastes amazing too!!

NICE (for 1 year)
UPDATE: The mfr sent a replacement unit gratis - luckily I was just barely within the one year warranty period. So it's a five-star coffee maker, minus one star for questionable longevity.UPDATE: Died after almost one year. I will update again after the mfr gets back to me about Warranty service.Hits all the right notes with little features like variable keep-warm temp and keep-warm time, different brew options, simple operation, replaceable charcoal water filter. And we LOVE the coffee it makes - our fave is the "1-4 cups" cycle, even for larger pots. 💖

Best coffee maker that I have owned.
This coffee maker is easy to clean and keep clean. The front pull-out basket prevents coffee grounds from spilling into the basket. The brew feature lets you select the strength of your coffee. The warming feature keeps your coffee hot for a long period of time. The 14 cup pot is just enough coffee for my husband and I. We no longer have to make a cup of instant.

Garbage
The carafe is NOT drip free when pouring a full pot. It's drip free when you have less than a 12 cup pot you are trying to pour. 50% of the time, it brews then shuts off the warming plate immediately after. It's a piece of junk as others have had the same problems. Do yourself a favour and DO NOT buy this model. Wish I had never bought it.

A terrible coffee maker
I ordered this coffee maker and it worked for about 7 days then it quick brewing half way through a pot and shut off. This happened a few times so I returned it and got a replacement. The replacement worked 2 days when I was brewing it right away. The first morning the timer was set I woke up to half a pot of coffee as the rest of the water leaked out overnight. I gave it another try the next day and the same thing. I have returned it for a refund.
