I found that the hot plate did not get hot enough to make a pan of water boil and the plate unit itself got very hot indeed and would burn you if you touched the white area. I returned mine.

What is the maximum temperature of this hot plate? (In Celsius)

Sorry I dont know the maximum temperature but it gets hot enough to cook most foods. The only problem I get is that it takes ages to boil water - for example if you are cooking boiled potatoes it's better to boil a kettle of boiling water first to put in the saucepan and then its fine. Hope that helps a bit.
