This is the best oatmeal
That's a bold statement, and I make it as one who loves oatmeal. It's a great breakfast, but if you are checking out steel-cut varieties like Flahavan, you probably already disdain the quick cooking, overly processed, highly sugared brands. If that is your jam, I am not judging, but for me, real oatmeal is the least processed. These take longer to prepare, either soaking overnight to shorten cooking time in the morning or cooking directly from the container. Of the steel-cut, slower cooking varieties, Flahavan's is worth the time. Cook it longer and it becomes creamier, while shorten the time and it's chewier but still so smooth on the tongue. You could eat it all by itself to have a satisfying, full-mouth feel. It is a soothing comfort food. While all brands of steel-cut oatmeal provide a base in which to mix in butter, milk and various flavors, Flahavan's tastes good just by itself. When it comes to oatmeal, bland is beautiful but Flahavan's stands out with a nutty but not intrusive taste.

Very creamy
It’s very good oatmeal, creamy and dense which I like. A little pricey.

I rarely write reviews, but it has to be said (probably again): Flavahan's is THE steel-cut oatmeal, significantly tastier than its well-known competitor in the steel-cut oatmeal world. I do the the easy-peasy overnight method and batch cook -- that is, separate dollops of oatmeal into small glass containers and freeze them. Then as needed I thaw one at time in the fridge and warm up on the stove for a delicious breakfast. Good chewy texture and nutty flavor.

$30 for 56 oz. is way over priced.
Anthony's Organic Oats just as good for less money. I discovered that My local market sells this cereal for. $8.00.

My new favorite oatmeal
Not being very familiar with steel-cut oats, I decided to veer away from my standard Quaker old fashioned and try something new (and shiny). Being a little bit more expensive, I was hesitant that the price difference would be justified because oatmeal is oatmeal, right?Well, once the cans arrived at home, I opened them up and prepared some for breakfast. The texture is a lot different than other types of oats, these are not mushy at all, and I noticed that I'm quite a bit fuller for a lot longer.I'm a steel-cut oats convert, I don't know if I can ever go back to the flaked or traditional oatmeal, other than to use it for baking or other preparations.Worth the price for the quality and flavor.

Great breakfast
I make a batch in the pressure cooker every week for a quick and hearty breakfast. I get the same great texture and flavor Monday through Friday. Total hands on cooking and prep time under 5 minutes.
