Bought it because the charge cable I cut could not carry enough current to power my Raspberry Pi. Happy to report that this cable works! Been installed on the 3d printer for a couple months now with no issues.

The description states 5 pins but I didn't realize the 5 pins did not include the ID pin. Instead is has the "shield pin". Pin 4 (ID) is used for device identification especially in modern devices for OTG connections. Still looking for a break-out with Pin 4 (ID). So 5 plus shield. Breakout USB micro + Pin 1 Vcc D- Pin 2 D- Data D+ Pin 3 D+ Data N/C Pin 4 ID - Pin 5 Grn S No Pin Shield

I use these with my raspberry pi B3 that still have the micro USB port for power. I hook them up to buck power supplies that can produce reliable 5v power. No problems with them at all.

It works for anything you want to use it for as long as it's Micro USB.

This microUSB breakout cable appears to provide access to 5 separate wire connectors at the microUSB end, however the cable is standard 4-conductor, with the "S" and "-" pins shorted together at the breakout end. I'd hoped to be able to switch a tablet between "Host" and "Client" by signalling through the "S" terminal, but this cable won't allow that. Rated "3-stars" for not specifying that additional information, otherwise quality appropriate with price.

I purchased this to hardwire a dash cam in my vehicle. Easy enough to use, but I have to reseat the usb micro end of the cable into the camera jack after a couple days of driving. I assume that the jack doesn't latch in place all the way. May be okay in a static environment, I would not recommend for any item that needs to be moved around or will be subjected to vibrations
